THE ANNUAL KUDU TOURNAMENT PRESS RELEASE 2012 A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY TO WET YOUR APPETITE!!!!! A magnificent hole-in-one was the perfect way to conclude the most successful Kudu Tournament in its 15 year history! Willie Maree from Pretoria had a stroke of genius on the 7 th hole of the 18-hole championship Koro Creek Golf Course at Modimolle, Limpopo, on Saturday and with this won himself a stand at the Estate as part of a promotion which has been running for more than a year. The first two Pro-Am days saw Kenneth Dube, PGA Professional and Director of Golf from Royal Oak Country Club walking away with the honors (with 77 points) and a nice cash prize of R7500 to boot. The total prize money up for grabs for the professionals amounted to R30000, along with various substantial and worthwhile golfing paraphernalia for which no less than 32 Professionals competed representing 22 golf clubs in all. In second place was Johan van Vuuren (Woodhill Country Club) and third Henk Alberts (Pretoria Country Club). The annual flagship event at Koro Creek took place from 27 th till 30 th of June with almost 500 players participating. For the amateur golfers, all three competitions in the format of both Individual Stableford as well as 4-ball alliance (two to count) provided ample opportunity to take home a whopping array of prizes ranging from game to mouthwatering golf gear and vouchers from, among others, ten participating golf clubs. Local club-member Solly Rabalao was victorious in being crowned the overall Kudu Champion 2012 after two days of excellent play earning himself a state-of-the-art Cleveland Classic driver as well as, of course, a Kudu bull. Amateurs A van Dyk and Adriaan du Plessis also won a Kudu each in the individual competitions, with Johan Weber, Jacob Phala and Jan Nel all deserving blue wildebeests with their second places. For third placings J Swart, Jan Diedericks and Jacques Correia each got themselves an impala and so did the 4-Ball Alliance winners. Daily hand-outs, raffles and entertainment at the 19 th, support and involvement by local businesses as well as sponsorships and promotions by circa fifty various industry-related companies and individuals, in combination with authentic Bushveld hospitality and a challenging course in very good condition after hosting the recent SAGES National Championships, all contributed to an outstandingly successful, enjoyable and memorable tournament. The small Limpopo town was inundated with visitors preparing Modimolle for yet another significant tournament namely the Limpopo Open to be hosted by Koro Creek Golf Estate from 5 th till 8 th of July, as well as the Sanlam Cansa Golf Day to be held 21 st of this month. Fine-tuning to the format and all-round detail comprising the Kudu Tournament is the already the focus as preparations are being put in motion for the 2013 event in order to solidify the status thereof on the golfing calendar with the main aim to concentrate on and extend the Pro-Am in particular. With reciprocity agreements secured between Koro Creek, Zebula, Euphoria, Elements, Legend and Hans Merensky, together with various initiatives driving the sport, golf in Limpopo is bound to flourish and be taken to the next level. The quality of products on offer is astounding, the individuals and businesses involved even more so, and therefore the aim to capture a significantly larger portion of the national rounds than the current 2% this province hosts at this point in time, notably probable. 2013 KUDU FESTIVAL WEEK The tournament takes place from the 17 th July to the 20 th July 2013 With a phenomenal growth over the last four years, this tournament has become one of the most pristine golf tournaments in the area. The players will receive handouts at the start of the tournament, thereby adding value to the experience, the cost for the Members Invitational is R350.00 per day per player which includes dinner. We will have locations available for promotional material as well as spots on the golf course for branding. We will brand them during the prize giving and make sure that a professional MC gives them the added exposure during the dinner and prize giving. We will have a two tee start in the morning starting at 09:00 with the field restricted to 120 players to ensure pace of play is maintained. Prize giving will be 30 minutes after the last score card is handed in. Prizes for the tournament will include various game. The professional golfers playing in the Pro Am will play for a prize fund that may amount to almost R 50 000.00! Golfers from all the provinces will join us. Neighboring clubs will also be heavily involved, thereby making sure that this is a community project to enhance and market the Bushveld area as a well known and loved area to enjoy the game of golf.
