Our new programs are designed to provide children with a fun, safe and motivating environment to stay healthy, meet new friends and enjoy a wide variety of sports that Thanyapura has to offer. We emphasize the importance for growth and development no matter what the child s ability. Thanyapura is at the cutting edge of junior sport programs with world-class coaches, facilities and opportunities for children to achieve their dreams and goals. Positive role models are important to the development of an athlete s sporting ability, character and desire to achieve. Thanyapura provides a unique environment where children are able to regularly train next to and sometimes with some of the world s premier athletes. The SUPERKIDZ program has been revamped to offer children a taste of a wide variety of sports including swimming, triathlon, tennis, muay Thai, soccer, touch football and beach volleyball. This is our base level program catering to kids who just want to have fun in a safe and active environment. This development pathway creates opportunities for kids who want to further develop sport specific skills in our core sports of swimming, tennis and triathlon. AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS 2014-2015 3
SUPERKIDZ The new and improved SUPERKIDZ program is our way of introducing kids to as many sports as possible in a fun, safe and exciting way. The SUPERKIDZ program will be conducted from 3pm - 5pm every Monday to Friday with children completing two different sport activities each afternoon with a break in between. Each week will consist of the following sessions: 2x Triathlon sessions 2x Swim sessions 2x Muay Thai Classes 1x Gym for Kids class New 3x Fitness sessions (variety of other sports including soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc.) The SUPERKIDZ program will be closely supervised by our sports team and school mentors who will escort all children from school to the designated meeting/pickup point. TENNIS Tiny Tigers Futures Challenger JDP EJSA Tiny Tigers: This class is a chance for younger children to discover a love for the game of tennis. Activities in the class will work on their balance and hand-eye coordination through catching, holding the racket with proper grips and developing their racket awareness. These developments will give them a head start as they grow, allowing them to learn technique as they develop. Futures: In our Futures group, students will develop the key fundamental of contact. This allows the students to control the tennis ball and begin to place their shots into particular areas. Students will also learn to identify forehand, backhand and service grips, as well as develop an understanding of the lines and specifi c areas of the tennis court. Challenger: Challenger students are working towards rallying consistently from the service line and sending and receiving shots from ¾ court. Players will begin to use full swings at varying swing speeds. Serves are also a key component of this level, as serves are the most important shot in a player s development. Junior Development Program (JDP): The Junior Development Program (JDP) program is designed to fully develop a player s ability to understand the game of tennis to the fullest and offer an increased rate of potential improvement for its participants. This program will offer the complete package for players to develop defensive, neutral and offensive skills, develop weapons through feeding exercises, consistency through co-operative rallying, as well as closing the gap between the skills developed in practice and the reality of match play. TRIATHLON Junior Development Program (JDP) EJSA Junior Development Program (JDP): The Junior Development Triathlon Program has been based on the highly effective Australian Junior Development Programs that have produced some of the world s most successful athletes. This program is designed for those who wish to pursue triathlon as a sport and will offer children the chance to travel as a team to international competitions as well as train alongside the EJSA program athletes. The training programs have been developed by Australian professional triathlete and Thanyapura coach, Ben Hammond who has over 12 years of involvement with the Australian High Performance Programs. This program is designed to create a positive atmosphere where kids are motivated to learn and develop the skills to one day compete on the ITU Triathlon circuit. AQUATICS Silverfinz Swim School Silverfinz Squads EJSA Silverfinz Swim School: For 2014-2015 we have also revitalized our Silverfi nz Swim School program to provide a more clear development pathway for those kids who want to take up swimming as a sport. The Silverfi nz Swim School program is a fun and exciting way to learn a necessary life skill in a safe and encouraging environment with our expert team of coaches. The Silverfi nz Swim School program will consist of seven levels for the kids to aspire towards. Silverfinz Squads: Upon the completion of Silverfinz Swim School, children have the chance to move into our squads program. THE TREE CLUB Tree Club is our club kids offering childern a chance to play and relax whilst parents are active within the Club. Daily motivational activities including crafts and fun games help kids to learn social skills within a wider range of age groups than they may experience at school or home. Every Tuesday, Tree Club hosts a newborn Play Group for children 4 years and under with special activities for the little ones. Babysitting is available for those under 4 on an hourly basis, or parents can feel free to remain at the Club to play with their kids. 8:00am - 7:00pm Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm Saturday Sunday NEW GYM PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS The Thanyapura fi tness centre has also undergone a makeover for parents to enjoy offering more with a newly designed gym fl oor space for small group training sessions. In fi rst term our fi tness team will launch two new programs to bring together individuals with similar goals.
