I'm pleased to share that DelDOT is hosting an upcoming public workshop on Thursday, October 20 th in an open format that you can attend anytime between 4 p.m. to 7 pm at Adas Kodesh Shel Emeth to discuss bicycle and pedestrian improvements along Washington Street Extension. This is a great opportunity for individuals in the community to share their feedback and see the plans for a complete street that works well for everyone, whether it's walking, bicycling, riding transit, or driving. In addition, I've included some details about National Drug Take-Back Day occurring this Saturday, October 22 nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have unwanted, unused or expired medications, please drop them off for safe disposal. Lastly, make sure to mark your calendars for the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company's Halloween Fire Safety Parade and Party on Saturday, October 29 th, starting at 11 a.m. at the top of the Lindamere neighborhood on Brandywine Boulevard. Sincerely, Debra Heffernan State Representative 6 th District DelDOT Workshop for Washington Street Extension Please attend a DelDOT workshop on planned improvements to Washington Street Extension adding several crosswalks, including the crosswalk at Marsh Road, and a recreational walk and bike path. These changes will calm and slow down traffic on Washington Street Extension, as well as improve the walkability and bikeability of our area from Philadelphia Pike to Rockwood Museum to Lea Boulevard. The workshop will be held at Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth, located at 4412 Washington Boulevard in Wilmington, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is coming up this Saturday, October 22 nd, from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. at locations throughout Delaware, including Shipley Manor Nursing Home located at 2723 Shipley Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. Please leave medication in original containers leaving the drug name, but remove any personal information like your name or address. Click here for a complete list of drop-off locations. Unwanted or expired medications cause thousands of accidental poisonings each year and have been detected in municipal water supplies. All medications will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
The following medications will be accepted: prescriptions. over-the-counter pills. pet medicines. vitamins liquid medications and creams Leave all medications in their original containers. Syringes/sharps will not be accepted. BHFC Halloween Fire Safety Parade & Party Join in the Halloween Parade and festivities led by the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company (BHFC) fire trucks starting at 11 a.m. sharp on Saturday, October 29 th, at the top of the Lindamere neighborhood on Brandywine Boulevard. Kids can collect candy from neighbors and the shops of Bellefonte on Brandywine Boulevard. The Halloween Fire Safety Party at Brandywine Hundred Fire Company, located on 1006 Brandywine Boulevard in Bellefonte, will follow the parade at 1 p.m. and will include crafts for kids, games, a pumpkin patch, and Halloween Costume contests for each age group with prizes, free hot dogs, pretzels, cookies & ice cream. Most importantly, please remember to pick up your FREE smoke detector with a long lasting tenyear battery and receive helpful fire safety tips. Additional Halloween Events in Our Area Brandywine High School Halloween Trunk or Treat Friday, October 28 th, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Brandywine High School, located at 1400 Foulk Road in Wilmington. Bellevue Community Center Mischief in the Garden Friday, October 28 th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mark your calendars for a Halloween party filled with fun, food, games, crafts, ghost stories, and a costume contest for kids.
