CCAC Breeders Award Program (BAP) Rules Purpose: The purpose of the Breeders Award Program is to encourage the spread of a variety of species of fish through the hobby and an understanding of their propagation. It is also intended to ensure survival of threatened or endangered species and also species that are now extinct in their native habitats. The Breeders Award Program rewards the achievements of CCAC members in breeding aquatic species to collect and convey information on successful breeding to other hobbyists. BAP Committee: The BAP Committee shall consist of a chairperson(s) appointed by the board of directors. The duties will consist of witnessing fry, as outlined below; maintaining accurate records of point standing and reporting these to the General Membership through Fancy Fins and on the club website; and obtaining awards, when needed. BAP Program Specifics and Addendums: 1. This BAP program will begin January 2, 1992. 2. Participants must be CCAC members in good standing 3. It is the aquarists' responsibility to see that his/ her spawning is verified and that his/ her points are recorded. 4. It is the aquarists' responsibility to fill out the CCAC BAP Standard Spawning Report and give it to the BAP Chairperson. 5. Points may be awarded to individuals or to families, but not to both. 6. All articles written for BAP must be submitted to BAP Chairperson first. 7. If the aquarist wishes to write an article on subjects, other than the fish spawned, permission must be obtained from BAP Chairperson first. As of Nov. 2003, each article must be 250 words or more. 8. When BAP points are reclassified, the points shall not be applied to the detriment of any points previously given. In event, that the changes would increase the previous points given, the change will be retroactive to 1/02/92. 9. Transfer of points from another club's award program will not be allowed in this BAP PROGRAM. 10. Lapse in membership- former club member s points will be reinstated depending on availability of records. 11. Changes to the BAP Rules and Requirements must be submitted via written request to the BAP Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. CCAC Breeders Award Program (BAP) Rules Page 1

Classes and Requirements: Class A: A. The aquarist must spawn and raise 10 fry to 60 days of age. b. Submission of at least 10 fry to our monthly meeting auction a. 5 points will be awarded upon verification by the Committee Chairperson b. 3 additional points will be awarded for submission of a written article of 250 words or more explaining breeding techniques and setup. Class B: A. The aquarist must spawn and raise 10 fry to 60 days of age. b. Submission of at least 10 fry to our monthly meeting auction a. 10 points will be awarded upon verification by the Committee Chairperson b. 3 additional points will be awarded for submission of a written article of 250 words or more explaining breeding techniques and setup Class C: A. The aquarist must spawn and raise 5 fry to 60 days of age. b. Submission of at least 5 fry to our monthly meeting auction a. 5 points will be awarded upon verification by the Committee Chairperson b. 10 additional points will be awarded for submission of a written article of 250 words or more explaining breeding techniques and setup. Class D: A. The aquarist must spawn and raise 5 fry to 60 days of age. b. Submission of at least 5 fry to our monthly meeting auction a. 10 points will be awarded upon verification by the Committee Chairperson b. 10 additional points will be awarded for submission of a written article of 250 words or more explaining breeding techniques and setup. Point Classifications: (Examples) Class A: 8 POINTS 1. All livebearers not listed in other classes 2. All Oryzias (ricefish) 3. All snails 4. Danios and Brachydanios 5. Cichlids: Convicts, Firemouths, Blue Acara, Jewels, Ports, Similar species. 6. Killifish: A. gardneri, Australes, Aplo, Lineatus, Apl. Panchax, Epiplatys, Dageti. 7. White clouds & Australian Rainbows. Class B: 13 POINTS 1. All barbs 2. All Colisa species, Bettas, and Paradise Fish 3. All goldfish, Koi & Carp 4. All halfbeaks 5. All other Mop Spawning Killiefish not listed in Class A. 6. All other Rainbows not listed in Class A & D. 7. Cichlids: All not listed elsewhere (Aequidens, Angelfish, Tilapia, Cyanoguttatum, Severums). Class C: 15 POINTS 1. All Goodeids, Zoogoneticus 2. Anabantoids: Kissing, Moonlight, Pearl & Croaking Gouramies, Osphronemus Goramy, Belontia Species, Anabas species. 3. Catfish: All corydoras 4. Characins: All except those listed in Class D. 5. Cichlids: All not listed elsewhere (Geophagus, Dwarf Cichlids, Africans, Tretocephalus, Tropheus Species, Cichlasomas) 6. Killifish: All soil spawning except those listed in Class D 7. Livebearers: Belonesoxs 8. Marine: Fairy Shrimp, Seahorses, Pipefish 9. Other: Bumblebee Gobies, Glassfish, Sun Fish, Sticklebacks, American Minnows, Leaf Fish, Snakeheads. 10. Rainbows: Featherfins Class D: 20 POINTS 1. Anabantoids: Chocolate Gourami, Combtails, Ctenopoma Species 2. Characins: Neons, Cardinals, Black Neons, Hatchet Fish, Silver Dollars, Piranahs, Pencilfish, Rasboras 3. Killifish: Rivulus Rectidallus, Heteromorphia, Saberfins 4. Marine: All not listed in Class C 5. Livebearers: Anableps 6. Catfish : All not listed elsewhere. 7. Others: Badis Badis, Algae Eaters, Lamprichthys, Scats, Arrowanas, Butterfly Fish, Mudskippers 8. Breeder Awards and Criteria: A. Breeder (*) 50 Points a. Requires 20 points from class A b. Remaining 30 points from any other classes B, C, or D c. Presentation of certificate or plaque upon completion B. Senior Breeder (**) - 150 Points b. 50 points from classes C or D c. Remaining 50 points from any of the classes d. Presentation of certificate or plaque upon completion C. Master Breeder (***) 500 Points b. Senior Breeder points c. 350 points additional points i. Must include one Class D spawning ii. Remaining points can come from any or all of the four classes. d. Presentation of certificate or plaque upon completion D. Grand Master Breeder (****) 1,500 points b. Senior Breeder points c. Master Breeder points d. 1,000 additional points i. Must include 4 Class D spawning ii. Remaining points can come from any or all of the four classes e. Presentation of certificate or plaque upon completion plus 1 year paid membership to CCAC E. All Around Breeder (******) a. Requires a verified spawning of one species, from each of the following: i. Angelfish ii. Barb iii. Betta iv. Catfish v. Danio vi. Goldfish vii. Livebearer viii. Mouthbrooding Cichlid ix. Other Anabantoids x. Plant Spawning Killifish xi. Rainbow xii. Additional Points Information: 1. The eggs must have been spawned by the breeder's own fish. 2. 60 DAYS of age means 60 days after hatching for egg layers. 3. Points will be awarded for each different species bred. For species which have different color morphs or physical characteristics (Hi- fin, Plumetail, Bubble- eye, etc) points can be earned for one additional spawning of any different variety of that species. Points will not be awarded for any duplicate spawning of the same species except as noted above. 4. Any fish, not listed in point classifications or on the BAP Species List will be assigned points upon written request of BAP Chairperson and approved by the Board of Directors. Specialist Breeder Program: In addition to the standard BAP program, members who participate are automatically included in the Specialist Breeder Program (SBP). This program is designed to recognize members who have taken a special interest in a specific class of fish and have bred a large number of fish from that class. These members may be viewed as having an expertise in that particular field of aquatic husbandry. SBP Awards: Awards will be presented at the annual banquet and will be in the form of a certificate and a goody bag of various aquarium products. SBP Rules and Class Requirements: The rules for participation are the same as for the standard BAP with the following exceptions; 1. Each qualifying spawn submitted generates 1 point towards that class regardless of difficulty. 2. Species may only be counted once (e.g. White Calvus and Black Calvus are only counted as one spawning, Tiger Barbs and Green Tiger Barbs as one spawning.) 3. SPB Class Requirements: a. Each column displays the number of species required to spawn to achieve that level.
