The day will be a circular walk starting and ending in Malham village and taking in Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar, the limestone pavement and Malham Cove. This team engineering task is to design and build a gripping device, so that the meteorite can be safely handled from a distance. You will be competing in groups to build and test the best solution. Arty Maths! There would seem to be an unlikely relationship between Art and Maths. After all, the two areas depend on very different thinking patterns. So why not discover the link between the two subjects and bring out your creative side with the Maths Department in Room 20? Snow Park - Chill Factore Snow Park includes all of the fun snow activities with just one pass! Downhill Donuts - ride the bumps of the tubing lanes in huge rubber rings. Plus, race a friend or two down the lanes or see who can set the fastest time, everyone can enjoy the thrills! Luge Slip 'N' Slide - Release the big kid in you screaming down the twists and turns of the slide built using ice. Sledge 'O' Mania - there's three to choose from. Race each other on the sledges, build your speed with the nippy zipper and try dodging and weaving with the carver. Find your sledging prowess! Snow Luge Built entirely from REAL SNOW take on its twists and turns as you race to the bottom. Helmets are provided but pupils MUST bring suitable gloves (they will not be allowed on the slopes without them and are costly to hire at the venue). Guild Wheel Bike Ride! Calling all you cyclists out there Mr Quinlan and Mr Farringdon are going on a bike ride around the Guild Wheel on Enrichment Day. All you need is your bike, a helmet and a packed lunch. We will be stopping just before lunchtime at a Spar shop on the route if you don t want to carry a packed lunch. The itinerary of the day is as follows: 0830 Meet at school tennis courts with bikes, helmets and a ruck sack with lunch and waterproof jacket (LQU to check bikes and helmets) 0900 We will cycle to the start of the Guild Wheel in Broadgate. We will go clockwise around the wheel. Location: Preston Guild Wheel Time: 8:50am to 3:20pm. (You need to bring your own bike to school). Dove Cottage and the Lake District! Indulge your inner Romantic poet and explore some of the Lake District with the English department. First stop will be Dove Cottage where William Wordsworth wrote some of the greatest poetry in the English language. If time allows, we will wander into Grasmere village and hunt down world famous Kendal mint cake and Grasmere gingerbread. Location: The Lake District, Cumbria. Time: 8:50am - 3:20pm For more information: See Mrs Woodhouse. We'll stop for lunch at Brockholes visitor centre and finally, in the afternoon spend a couple of hours exploring Ambleside. You will have free time here to spend as you choose. This may mean that you watch the world go by and (hopefully) soak up the sunshine in a cafe, spend the afternoon browsing the shops or enjoy a game of crazy golf.
