Television does not do the scale or surroundings justice. The setting, the crowd management, the regional hospitality and friendliness, the people there primarily to experience the golf, the camaraderie of the participants - all contribute to a wonderful tribute to the game. We met some wonderful people in and out of Augusta National, and enjoyed every minute. It brings out the best characteristics of the sport in a venue that is as close to a 'Disneyland' for golf one can find. A phenomenal way to appreciate the game. We had a great time." Mark and Jane were the fortunate winners of the drawing at the Annual Mira Vista Bash Party. Any Member who sponsors a New Member is eligible to win a trip to the 2017 Masters or US Tennis Open! Drawing will be held at the Bash Party on Saturday August 20th. Contact our Membership Director, Shauna Fenn, if you have a friend who may be interested in membership!

GOLF COURSE MAITENANCE Panoramic picture of the driving range near chipping green 5-18-2016. Mike Epps Golf Course Superintendent Panoramic picture of the driving range near chipping green 5-26-2016. The pictures above are of the short game area at the south end of the practice range. The green in this area will be roughly double the size of the old one and will be built to USGA specifications. A green that is built to USGA specifications is designed for drainage and a consistent root zone depth. The short version is 12 of a high sand organic mix root zone over 4 pea gravel, over drainage pipe. The USGA recommend greens specification are more detail that my short version and can be found on the USGA site. The grass we will be planting on the putting surface will be spring and will take roughly 8-10 weeks to grow in, before its ready for play. The short game green complex will have several new bunkers around and a much larger chipping area to practice on. The bunkering around and in the short game area are laid out to give you several different and realistic shots to what is on our course. During the month of June, we will need to close the fairway portion and north end practice tee to allow for construction. We have installed a temporary net on the south end practice tee. The hitting net is roughly twenty feet tall and eighty feet wide. The net is designed to allow you to hit full shots into it. We will start using the tee/net area once we close the fairway portion of the range on June 20 for construction of the target greens. We have also prepared a short game area behind the Pointe pool area. There will also be a short chipping area next to the south end tee. The hitting net and temporary short game areas have been set up allow members to continue to warmup before play and practice while the main practice areas are closed. As always, I hope to see you out on the golf course soon, and my goal is to have the course in the best condition possible every day for your enjoyment. If you have any questions or concerns please call or e-mail me (817-294-6615, mepps@miravistacountryclub.com ) or come ride the course with me, I ll buy the coffee. Thank you for your time, Michael L. Epps
