Kapiti to Mainland Swim Saturday 5 March 2016 Race Day Timeline: The swim commences from Kapiti Island at 12.30pm to fit with the low tide at 1.30pm. Approximate times for the day of the swim are as follows and will be confirmed on acceptance of entry: 09.30am 10.30am 10.45am 11.30am 12.30pm Approx. 3.30pm Swimmer registration begins Final registration time at Kapiti Boating Club Race brief for all swimmers and boat skippers Boats begin leaving for the Island Race start Prize giving - will be held 30 minutes after the last swimmer finishes Support Boats: Limited field: Entry Fee: Each swimmer will have a support powerboat. Boats are provided by the Kapiti Boating Club. Swimmers can provide their own boat but must be from outside the membership of the Kapiti Boating Club refer to Rule 10. The swim is limited to a maximum of 20 swimmers plus those who supply their own boats. Priority of entry to those who are members of clubs affiliated to Swimming New Zealand and Masters Swimming Clubs. Refer to RULE 18. The entry fee is $100.00 per swimmer ($50 if supplying own suitable boat see rule 10 for details regarding own boat). All fees are to accompany entry or paid by electronic payment to the Club s bank account as included on the entry form. RAUMATI SWIMMING CLUB RULES FOR: KAPITI-MAINLAND SWIM 1. THIS event is to be a scratch event with entry priority to members of clubs affiliated to the SNZ and Masters Swimming Clubs. Entries must be limited to a maximum of 20 swimmers. In the event of entries exceeding the maximum of 20 or the number of boats available, the organising committee of the Raumati Swimming Club will determine the swimmers who take part. ORDER of priority will be: 1. Registered - Swim Clubs 2. Masters Swim Clubs 3. Non Registered Swimmers Non registered swimmers may pay the Swimming New Zealand (SNZ) registration fee with their swim entry fee for temporary registration to gain the above registration preference. 2. ALL entries MUST be on the official form completed in every detail including an accepted and signed waiver and paid the required entry fee. 3. COMPETITORS must be over the age of 16 on the day of the swim. Swimmers under the age of 16 will be considered on receipt of parental approval and endorsement from their coach or other suitably qualified person that they are able to handle open water conditions and their fitness will enable them to complete the course. 4. ENTRY fees will be refunded to competitors who scratch from the event 7 days before the event or on the production of a medical certificate. 5. COMPETITOR S swimwear must be in accordance with FINA rules. Wetsuits are not permitted. 6. COMPETITORS must wear a suitable cap for identification by the race referee. 7. COMPETITORS must register within the designated registration time and attend the race briefing. 8. COMPETITORS must be accompanied by a powerboat. No boat may accompany more than one (1) swimmer. In the event of danger to either the swimmer or the boat, the decision made by the boat skipper, will be obeyed by the swimmer and/or coach without question. The boats will be under the jurisdiction of the race referee and the Commodore of the Kapiti Boating Club for the duration of the race. 9. COMPETITORS must have a coach or other support person who will be on the boat during the swim. More than one support person for any swimmer will be at the discretion of the boat skipper. 10. COMPETITORS may provide their own boats, but these must be from outside the membership of the Kapiti Boating Club. Entry forms must advise whether a boat is required or, if providing own boat, details of own boat must be forwarded with entry form. All boats must be: powered by motor be at least 5m in length equipped with working marine UHF radio all necessary safety equipment including life jackets for all on board 11. NO swimmer may be accompanied in the water by another, non-competing swimmer, at
he/she shall be deemed to be out of the race. Subject to these provisions, sustenance will be allowed to competitors at their own discretion. 12. THE race will be conducted from a standing start on a beach at Kapiti Island, over a course to be determined by individual swimmers to the finish line adjacent to the Kapiti Boating Club Rooms. Swimmers must swim to the entrance of the flags and make the run up the beach to the finish line. Under extreme weather conditions the Race Organiser may amend this decision on the day. 13. MAXIMUM swim time will be 60 minutes after the first swimmer to finish. Swimmers who have not completed the course in this time will be removed from the water and transported to the beach by boat or at the referee s discretion. 14. A Veteran is classed as being over 35 years of age. 15. THE organiser/clerk of the course/referee is empowered to alter starting times, cancel or postpone the event. It is also empowered to abandon the event after the official start for safety reasons. If cancelled, entry fees (excluding the cost of providing boat escort) will be refunded. 16. THE organiser reserves the rights to refuse entry to any person. The organizer or race referee also has/holds the right to remove or prevent someone from starting or completing the event at their discretion, and any decision made is ULTIMATE AND FINAL. 17. MATTERS not specifically dealt with above shall be decided in accordance with the SNZ rules, FINA rules and Raumati Swimming Club rules.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT Indemnified Persons include; Raumati Swimming Club Inc, Kapiti Boating Club Inc and their officers, employees, volunteers, agents and contractors, and public bodies, land holders and sponsors associated with the Event. I confirm that I am fit enough to participate in an event of this nature. I understand that I should not compete in this event unless I have trained and prepared appropriately for it. My physical condition has been verified by a medical practitioner or I confidently believe that I am sufficiently fit and healthy to compete in this event. By competing, I accept all of the inherent and obvious risks involved with swimming, which I acknowledge is a dangerous recreational activity. I also am aware of and accept the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting there from. Accordingly I hereby release and forever discharge the Indemnified Persons from any and all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, damages or proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any personal injury, death, property damage or loss sustained by me or any other person as a result of my participation in the Event. I hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Indemnified Persons from and against all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, actions, and proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any injury, loss, or damage sustained by me or any injury, loss, or damaged suffered by any other person as a result of any act, omission, neglect, or default on my part in connection with my participation in the event. I understand that the Indemnified Persons have the right to postpone the event, change the start time or cancel the event if conditions warrant. Indemnified Persons will make every possible effort to ensure this event takes place. However there will be no refunds given if the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Indemnified Persons. These circumstances include without limitation; water or weather conditions, fire, flood, storms, explosion, acts of God, war, governmental actions or nonperformance by third parties. I hereby agree to allow my photograph, video, multimedia or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the organisers, sponsors, or others. I agree that if I suffer injury the Indemnified Persons can at my cost arrange medical treatment and emergency evacuation services as the Indemnified Persons deem essential for my safety.
