We have been supporting the GW baseball program for over a decade through this annual event. Last year the tournament raised approximately $25,000 for the baseball program. Over the years, we have raised over $250,000 at these tournaments, which has enabled the team to increase their travel budget, upgrade recruiting efforts, and purchase new equipment. We are hoping you can help us reach our goal of $30,000 at this year s tournament. Over the years we have been fortunate to have been joined by such outstanding baseball luminaries as Frank Howard, Jim Palmer, Mark Lemke, Tim Cullen, Chuck Hinton, Mike Toomey 74, Don Stanhouse and John Flaherty 89. This year marks a special occasion as we will welcome GW Athletic Hall of Famer and former Major League Manager Sam Perlozzo 73 as our guest. Last year's Colonials squad, though 23-31 overall, was exceptionally young (22 of 31 players were freshmen or sophomores) and managed a 14-13 mark in the Atlantic 10. Two freshmen, 2B Tom Zebroski and 1B-DH Curtis Eward (of Oakton High), made the All-Conference Rookie Team. Junior OF Charlie Kruer and senior Michael Parker both earned All-Conference first team honors. Infielder Michael Parker, the team MVP, was named All-American and was drafted by the NY Mets in the 24th round of the MLB Draft. This summer he batted nearly.300 for the Kingsport (Tenn.) Mets in the Appalachian League (Class-A). Coach Steve Mrowka sees greater things in the upcoming season. Our various sponsorships offer many ways to support Steve Mrowka and the GW Baseball Program. It is these sponsorships that are the key to the success of this event. Once again, we have structured sponsorship programs to benefit our Friends of GW Baseball, family, friends, alumni, and business associates. These sponsorships have been packaged for large companies and small businesses, as well as individual sponsors. Please share this opportunity with your business associates, friends, and family. If you are unable to sponsor, perhaps you would consider donating an item for auction or raffle. To confirm your sponsorship level, please fill out the enclosed form and return it to GW Baseball, attention: Pat Hartung 703/971-1701 phone, 703/971-5327 fax, or email at pat.hartung@nationalcapitalgolf.com). Sponsorship forms should be returned by Friday, October 5, 2007 to insure representation on course signage, banners, and the tournament program. Please respond as soon as possible to reserve your foursome at the Home Run Classic. We look forward to your participation at the 11 th Annual GW Baseball Golf Classic. Please do whatever you can to help us achieve our fundraising goal. Again, thank you for your continued support of the GW Baseball program and we hope to see you on October 12 th. Best regards, Bill Collins ( 72) 11 TH ANNUAL HOME RUN GOLF CLASSIC FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2007 VIRGINIA NATIONAL GOLF CLUB
