Vassallo & D. R. McLean (6u1b) When Ms L. Coombe(a) was injured and Ms R. Prest(a) became indisposed following Race 5, Stewards permitted the following rider substitutions. Race 1 Ms M. Clark on Fracking RACE 1: Maiden Handicap 1000m: Destiny Hasselhoff Bumped shortly after the start. Danetrille Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers when it was found to have blood present in the mouth and was passed fit to race. Began awkwardly. Graduate Slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start. Verduzzo The start of this event was delayed when rider Ms A. Masters was dislodged enroute to the barriers. A. Masters was not injured in this incident. The gelding was examined by the Club s veterinarian and passed fit to race. Unheard Hung out on home turn. Prince Of Prussia Raced wide throughout. RACE 2: 2yo Handicap 1300m: Couldnotbebetter Restless in the barriers. Slow to begin (3L). Vinnie Steadied approaching the winning post when racing in restricted room to the inside of Couldnotbebetter. Vee Eight Trainer D. William s explanation for the late declaration of Ms M. Kinny(a) as the rider of the gelding was accepted. Rider Ms M. Kinny(a) was reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m.
Star Cod Commenced to over race near the 1000m when crossed by Tearful Kitty. Shifted out away from heels near the 950m and raced wide from that point. RACE 3: 3yo & Up Maiden Plate 1300m: Ceesil Severely hampered and lost ground after the start when crowded between Belle Gottie and Madetomotor, which was taken inwards by Novinophobia. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and was awkwardly placed on the heels of Benatina near the 900m. Held up for a short distance passing the 500m. Hoffski Bumped on jumping. Awkwardly placed on heels near the 400m and was taken outwards, bumping heavily with Sister Hazel resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Rhubarb Rhubarb A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which had not raced for 422 days, found it suitable to race. Spare Ticket Trainer Mr T. Smart was fined $50 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of N. Souquet as the rider of the gelding. Trident Bumped on jumping. Rider Ms K. Nisbet stated her mount did not travel well at any stage and had not handled today s heavy track surface. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Belle Gottie A pre-race veterinary examination found the filly fit to race. Held up on the home turn and was taken outwards to obtain clear running. Pastiche Awkwardly placed for some distance passing the 700m when racing tight between Spare Ticket and Benatina. Sister Hazel Bumped heavily near the 400m and became unbalanced. RACE 4: Benchmark 60 Handicap 2000m: Mr Sommerville Rider N. Souquet stated his mount enjoyed a good run and travelled well until approaching the 600m. He added from that point on a heavy track and with a big weight the gelding failed to quicken. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Rider N. Souquet was fined $300 under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. Video Show Slow to begin. Areyouok Rider J. Penza explained he was expected to settle just behind the lead and when the pace was moderate in the middle stages he went forward and attempted to improve his position. He added after initially responding to his riding the gelding failed to quicken on the heavy track when pressured in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Captain Fastbuck Rider M.A.Cahill was reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Domesday Flyer Slow to begin (2L).
Benno s Boy Rider Ms M. Nakao(a) stated her mount, which was having its first start for a month, weakened due to today s heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Golan Power Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. RACE 5: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1600m: Hangin With Willy Bumped heavily near the 400m. Dream On Stan Slow to begin. Dalhero When questioned regarding his riding of the mare and in particular the tactics adopted, rider J. Geppert stated at its most recent start at Young on 21 May 2016 his mount was able to take up a position outside the leader and as a result pleased connections with its second placing. Today the instructions were, with anticipated pace in the event, to attempt to obtain a position just in behind the lead. He added after pushing his mount out of the barriers to obtain a forward position the mare commenced to over race and despite making several attempts to steady and take up a position behind Zoltar, his mount refused to come back to him. His explanations were noted. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Rakeya Checked near the 1400m after laying inwards close to the heels of Jay Vee Elle, which shifted out slightly. Effigy Raced wide throughout. Calaway Cruizer Bumped heavily near the 400m. The Nickster Kicked out in the barriers and got its off hind leg over the back of the barriers. It was subsequently withdrawn by Stewards at 3.25pm. Trainer Mr J. Cleary was advised an official warning would be placed on the filly s barrier manners. Mr Cleary advised Stewards the horse would now be sent for a spell. In regards to betting Stewards ordered all monies invested on The Nickster be refunded and all successful wagers placed prior to 3.25pm be paid less the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket. 1 st ) Calaway Cruiser- 10 cents win, 6 cents place 2 nd ) Jay Vee Elle- 13 cents place 3 rd ) She Excites- 13 cents place She Excites Slow to begin. RACE 6: Class 2 Handicap 1200m: Damselle Bumped on jumping. Hung in between the 1000m and the 600m. Rider Ms C. MacFarlane(a) stated her mount did not travel well at any stage, was caught wide for the majority of the race and laid inwards throughout. She added the mare did not appreciate today s heavy racing surface. Willy White Socks Bumped on jumping. Hampered for some distance after the 1000m when Damselle laid inwards despite the efforts of its rider. Gentleman Max Raced wide throughout. Ribands Raced wide throughout.
Superoo Bumped on jumping. Fettlers Boot Bumped on jumping. Why Me Lord Raced wide throughout. Rider Ms M. Taylor(a) was reprimanded under AR137A(4)(b) for using the whip in an action that raised her arm above shoulder height. Zakruger Laid out under pressure in the straight. RACE 7: Benchmark 70 Handicap 1400m: Halfpenny Gate Slipped behind on jumping. Rider Ms R. Hunt(a) stated although the gelding had previously won on a heavy track, under today s big weight the gelding failed to get through the going. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Zarreig Proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. Raced wide from the 800m. The Boondock Saint Bumped and carried wider near the 1300m. Rider Ms M. Nakao(a) had difficulty pulling her whip through near the 350m. Fracking Commenced to over race near the 1300m and was taken out away from Zatigeroo, bumping Miss Farloo out onto The Boondock Saint. Black Fusion Rider Ms K. Smart stated her mount never travelled well at any stage, dipped on several occasions and had failed to handle the heavy track conditions. Trainer Mr S. Spackman agreed that the horse had not handled the heavy track, adding the gelding had pulled up well following the event and it was his plan to continue with the current preparation and avoid heavy tracks where possible. Miss Farloo Bumped and carried wider near the 1300m.
