WELCOME TO THE 2018 FLAT SEASON AT ASCOT In January, we announced that prize money for 2018 (excluding the industry-owned 4.35 million QIPCO British Champions Day) will be a record 13,452,000. This represents an increase of 1.2 million, 10% up on the 2017 figure of 12,229,000. Royal Ascot will be worth over 7 million for the first time at 7,305,000 (2017: 6,665,000, +10%) whilst the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) in July is up 100,000 to 1,250,000, the most the race has ever been run for. Amongst a host of star names on show last year, surely few would argue that the performances of Enable in the King George and Cracksman in the Champion Stakes stood out. Both were particularly poignant as the former provided a first Group One winner for sire Nathaniel, who himself won the King George in 2011, and Cracksman was a first Group One winner in the UK for Frankel, who had signed off his unbeaten career with victory in the Champion Stakes in 2012. The King George was rated the second best race run anywhere in the world behind the Arc in 2017, and Ascot staged in total three of the world s top ten races last year on official ratings. Cracksman on 130 was Europe s Champion Racehorse in the Longines World s Best Racehorse Rankings and third best in the world, whilst five of the world s top ten ran at Ascot during the year including World Champion Sprinter, Harry Angel (125). We are delighted to welcome Tattersalls as the new sponsors of the Horsemen s Lounge for 2018. We are looking forward to working with them to offer the best experience for connections. We very much look forward to welcoming you to Ascot in 2018. Nick Smith Director of Racing and Communications 5
BADGE INFORMATION GOING Up to the minute Going reports are available from Chris Stickels, Clerk of the Course. Please call 01344 878502 or 07970 621440. BADGE INFORMATION All owners with runners will be entitled to OWNER/TRAINER badges on the day their horse(s) run. Outside of Royal Ascot, these will gain entry to the racecourse, to the O & T facilities, to the O & T viewing, to the King Edward VII areas (as long as the dress code is adhered to) and to the Pre-Parade Ring and Parade Ring. If you have a runner at Ascot and would like to apply for badges, please contact Olivia Hills, Owners & Trainers Manager on olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk and she will be able to assist you. BADGE ALLOCATION All owners are entitled to six complimentary OWNER/TRAINER badges per runner. We also allocate six lunch tickets per runner which gain the recipients access to the dining room and complimentary lunch. We do try to help owners out as much as possible, so if you require some further badges then please do contact Olivia Hills (olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk or 01344 878529) and hopefully she will be able to help. We understand that having a day out to watch your horse run is an exciting occasion and we hope to be able to make it as memorable and enjoyable as possible. Badge allocation for Royal Ascot and QIPCO British Champions Day differs. Separate literature will be circulated regarding this. BADGE COLLECTION Our badge collection area is located via Ticket Office West. Ticket Office West is the white building next to the entry turnstiles, opposite Car Park 2. We have built a dedicated ticket collection point which provides owners with more space, less queues and direct access to the O & T areas. Badges will be mainly left under the horse s name and we do ask that on busy days, owners bring identification or their PASS card for collection. Badge collection for Royal Ascot differs and will be in the usual marquee in Car Park 2. 6
TRAINERS Trainers can gain entry to the course with their metal NTF badges. Trainers with runners are then entitled to two OWNER/TRAINER badges for guests on the day. Trainers with runners are also entitled to lunch for themselves and a guest. They can gain access to the dining room with their metal NTF badge, or can collect a lunch ticket from the O & T desk upon arrival. If you do not have a metal NTF badge, please book a lunch ticket in advance with Olivia Hills (olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk or 01344 878529). Metal badges are not valid for Royal Ascot and further information will be circulated. JOCKEYS Jockeys can gain entry to the course with their metal PJA badges. Jockeys with a ride on the day are then entitled to two OWNER/TRAINER badges for guests on the day. They can arrange these upon arrival, in advance via the PJA or by email to olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk. Please note that jockey s guest badges will not be released unless the jockey has requested them in person or in advance. Metal badges are not valid for Royal Ascot and further information will be circulated. A physiotherapist will be on site on all racedays for those who require treatment. METAL BADGES NTF and PJA metal badges are valid on all of our Flat fixtures except Royal Ascot. RCA badges are valid on all of our Flat fixtures except Royal Ascot and QIPCO British Champions Day. RCA badges will not gain entry to the O & T facilities on any day. 7

OWNERS & TRAINERS BAR The Owners & Trainers Bar is located above the Pre-Parade Ring. Complimentary tea, coffee and sandwiches are provided throughout the day. Feel free to relax in here before or after your race and the bar is open for one hour after the last race. VIEWING Owners and trainers with a runner can view the races from our two dedicated viewing areas. One is located underneath the Royal Box, giving easy access from the Parade Ring. The other is to the left of the horsewalk. Admittance to the viewing area is with an OWNER/ TRAINER badge or NTF metal badge. Royal Ascot viewing details can be found on our website.
