If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. 5. FIREFIGHTING MEASURES Flammable liquid and vapour. 5.1 Extinguishing media 5.1.1 Suitable extinguishing media Carbon dioxide, dry chemical or foam. 5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture Vapours may form explosive mixture with air when heated. Vapours are heavier than air and may be accumulated on floors and low areas. Vapours may be transported long distances and flash back in contact with sources of ignition, as sparks. May liberate hazardous fumes or vapour in case of fire. 5.3 Advice for firefighters Fire fighters have to wear a pressurized respirator and chemical protection suit. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES 6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate the area. Wear personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapours and mist. In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. 6.2 Environmental precautions Prevent leakage into sewers, soil, and waters. May cause an explosion in sewers. 6.3 Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up Absorb in appropriate material. Pick up in containers for waste treatment. Clean contaminated surfaces. Ventilate the area. Be aware of risk of ignition and explosion.
