Mike Harvey Memorial Race Fremantle Sailing Club to Hillarys Yacht Club Saturday 28 th January 2017 Supplementary Sailing Instructions 1 RULES 1.1 The Fremantle Sailing Club Sailing Handbook 2016-1017 ( Red Book ) inshore sailing instructions shall apply, with the following amendments: (a) Delete FSC Inshore SIs 11, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24 & 25. (b) Courses & Marks shall be as per Appendix 1 & 2 attached hereto 1.2 Boats entering either Obstruction (see 5 & 6) will be subject to protest by the Race Committee. The penalty shall be disqualification without a hearing. 2 STARTING AND FINISHING 2.1 The starting line will be situated at FSC Mark L 2.2 The Schedule of racing: The Scheduled time for the warning signal for each division is; Division 1 1200 Division 2 1205 Division JAM 1210 Cruising 1215 2.3 Finishing All yachts to announce their sail number by radio ASAP after crossing the Finish line to the HYC Tower. This will ensure they have your sail number on the results. 2.4 The Finish Line will be an imaginary line between the green marker on the Northern end of the Southern breakwater at Hillarys Boat Harbour and the outermost (i.e. Westernmost) Port Channel Mark. Ref attached Appendix 2. (Note that the Port Channel marker, green marker and the Lighthouse lie in a straight line). 3 TIME LIMITS 3.1 The time limit for the first boat to finish taken from the start time of that division/race is as set out below. 3.2 Hillarys Race 5 hours 3.3 Boats failing to finish within 120 minutes after the first boat of their division sails the course and finishes or within the time limit, whichever is the later will be scored Did Not Finish (DNF). This changes RRS 35. 4 ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS Will take place in the Hillarys Yacht Club Sailors Bar at approximately 18:00 hours. 5 FREMANTLE HARBOUR ENTRANCE RESTRICTED AREA Boats while racing shall not enter an area bounded by straight lines joining Green No. 1 Harbour Entrance Buoy. For area limits and details see Appendix 3. For the purpose of the RRS the restricted area is an Obstruction. 7 HILLARYS SHOALS Particular care should be taken on approach to Hillarys Boat Harbour Positioned at approximately 31 50.002 S 115 43.701 E 31 50.232 S 115 43.598 E 31 49.743 S 115 42.963 E 8 PRIZES Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 boats in each Division based on FSC Performance Handicap. The overall winner will be the boat who has the highest Performance Percentage. 9 SAFETY 9.1 This is a Safety Category 6 event, with specific reference to Red Book Rule 1.6. FSC Boat Success will be maintaining an escort to the fleet until all have passed the Centaur Reef Mark. From there, a watch will be maintained by HYC Tower. 9.2 All yachts to maintain a constant listening watch on VHF72. 9.3 Logging On log on by radio by calling Success stating POB, prior to 1200. Yachts not doing so will be considered DNS. 9.2 Logging Off This will be done by crossing the finish line, see 2.3. 9.3 Retiring boats that retire from the race shall contact Success, or if past Centaur Reef Mark, HYC Tower of their intent and also where they intend to return i.e. FSC, or on to HYC. 9.4 Contact numbers should radio contact fail.
