C a g e s Leda s bicycle cages fall into 2 categories. Multiple rack cages cyclists can leave their bicycle in a secured area which is shared with other cyclists. Individual storage which allows cyclists to maximise the security of their bicycle. Steel mesh cages provide good visibility and excellent security and are a practical alternative to lockers, particularly where there is a need to cater for large number of cyclists such as apartment and offi ce buildings or railway stations and bus interchanges. Cages are also ideal in basement locations where fire or sprinkler regulations may prohibit the installation of metal sheet clad lockers. Multiple rack cages are lockable and have sufficient space to allow cyclists to manoeuvre their bicycles within its confines. Where applicable, both floor and wall space can be used to maximise use of the facility. Cyclists should also be able to secure their bicycle to racks and rails. Ideally, cages should be positioned where they are easily accessible from the street (within 30 metres if possible) and close to showers and change facilities. They are designed to provide Class 2 medium security as defined by Australian Standard AS2890.3-1993. Cyclists should also be able to secure their bicycle to racks that provide Class 3 security within the enclosure. Cages are for use in either above ground or in-building locations and can accommodate varying Leda bicycle racks providing horizontal or vertical storage or a combination of both.
