Chairman s Report Pete Mulvey This season has seen the introduction of new players by the Management Team and their faith has been rewarded as we have enjoyed a promising start to the season with both teams performing well. It is especially good to see the number of younger players who have joined the Club and this can only benefit us in the longer term. I must congratulate the Football Managers this season for bringing an enthusiastic approach which has permeated through to the players and created a very positive atmosphere in the Club. That s all from me for this month other than to wish everyone a Pete Mulvey RACE NIGHT 2017 A date for your diary..!! Once again the club is planning the yearly Race Night to be held in the Thomas Bates Hall in the Village Hall, Little Eaton on Saturday 29 th April, last year s was a fabulous success both for the club and importantly our guests on the night. Our aim is to make the 2017 Race Night equally as enjoyable for everyone, so spread the word amongst friends and family, come along and join the fun you will not be disappointed!! Anyone interested in joining the small sub-committee who organise the event and help make the evening go with a bang are very welcome. feel free to contact Terry Wellings or any club member. 2

Club Secretary Andrew Brown Hello and Seasons greetings it seems unbelievable that another year is nearly over. It s quite strange to be writing as the Secretary of Little Eaton Football club rather than football management, but due to work commitments I stood down as 1 st team Manager at the end of 2015 but stayed on the committee. I also continued to represent the Club on The Midlands Regional Alliance Management Committee where I am into my 4 th year as League Treasurer and ninth year as committee member. When Dave Wilmot stepped down as Club Secretary at the end of last season having been a great servant to the club it seemed an ideal time to offer my knowledge and 30 + years of local football experience to help the club to the next level. After a difficult season for the club last season its great news to report that the club is having a far more positive season. Martyn Dolan did an excellent job in pre-season and has continued that on the pitch with the club currently sitting 3 rd in the league with assistance from Mark Wellings. It s also pleasing to see the hard work that Darren Barber has done in the Reserves and the young squad he has assembled paying dividends. If they can start to show a level of consistency in what is a tight league then they have the ability to mount a promotion challenge. I would like to mention the hard work the fund raising committee continue to do with Di Mulvey & Terry Wellings doing another excellent job selling our 200 club tickets with great support from Martyn, this is a key area of funding in supporting the operational costs of the club. Finally I would like to thank all our sponsors, for supporting the club and wish everyone associated with the club a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for your continued support to. Andrew Brown 3

Football Management Report 1 st Team After having a very good pre-season only losing 2 out of 6 friendlies and recruiting many new players we started the league campaign with a narrow defeat at Matlock United but then we went on to win our next 4 games. However losing players to injury and unavailability we had a setback and lost 3 league games in a row, but now we are back on track having won our last 2 league games. We are also having a good run in two Cup competitions. The Midlands Regional Alliance Junior Cup and the Derbyshire FA Divisional Cup South. In the MRA Junior Cup we beat Chesterfield Town 3-2 away from home to reach the quarter finals and await the draw for our next opponents. After a convincing 6-1 victory away at Hilton Harriers in the DFA cup we beat local rivals Allestree 4-3 away to reach the semi-finals of the DFA Divisional Cup. I d just like to take this opportunity to welcome Darren Barber to the management side of the club having taken over managing the Reserve team and wish him all the best for the season ahead Martyn Dolan Manager Reserve Team A promising start to the season with some good results and very good performances most notable are the defence who have been really solid so far this season. We have recently been interrupted in the league by some tough cup games, narrowly losing to teams from higher Divisions. As with all Reserve teams we have recently been affected by injuries to the 1 st Team with players having to step up, this affects the balance of the Reserves. However I am optimistic that once we get back to the settled and committed team we had at the start of the season we can have a good season and challenge for a top half finish at the very least. Daz Barber Manager 4

Training Ball Sponsor 2016/17 Season For a 3 rd year running Erewash Borough Councillor Mr Alan Summerfield (pictured above presenting a cheque to First Team Manager- Martyn Dolan) has generously donated 100 to the club to enable us to purchase new Training Balls & replacement water bottles. I know everyone at the club really appreciates Alan s continued support, and his recognition that local sport is a vital part of a healthy and vibrant community. A big thank-you. Di Mulvey Fundraising Officer 5

Player Profile This month we feature the Clubs only England International Player!!..read on Stuart King Age: 40 Position: Centre Midfield Team: Little Eaton Reserves Favourite Team: Derby County Football Career: I started playing at Repton Casuals FC at the age of 6 and have played for a number of teams since, such as Derby Phoenix FC, Findern FC, and Willington FC. I could go on! I have had a couple of spells not playing whilst at University and also when I went travelling for a couple of years in the early 2000 s. I played and won in a schools national finals at Lilleshall whilst at John Port School. I was also part of a team representing England against Germany in Charleroi, Belgium as part of the Euro 2000 tournament. I like to think that was when I won my first international cap! We drew 1-1 and lost on penalties, the normal result against Germany!! Our manager was Norman bite your legs Hunter who re-lived his famous fight with Franny Lee whilst joining us on a night out in the town. We also got to go to the real England v Germany game which we won 1-0. Hobbies: I enjoy keeping fit to help me to keep playing at the weekend and I also enjoy snowboarding as much as I can. Mostly however, I enjoy watching my two children starting out their sporting careers playing football, hockey, swimming and gymnastics. 7

A measure of the improvement this season is the amount of league goals scored in comparison to last season. Last season the Club scored a total of 55 goals (1 st Team 22, Res 33) but so far this season the Club has found the net on 84 occasions (1 st Team 38, Res 46). Below are the three top goal scorers in each team responsible for this goal rush 1 st Team Alex Lynam Robson Green Josh Lambert Reserve Team Ross Woodhouse Jordan Sanders Darren Barber 8
