RECORD: 17-17 DUCKS NEWS AND NOTES The Faithful Flock: Since their inaugural season of 2000, the Long Island Ducks have welcomed an Atlantic League record 7,092,617 fans through the gates of Bethpage Ballpark. Long Island reached the 7 million fan mark faster than any other team in league history despite having begun play in the ALPB s third year of existence (2000). In addition, the team has hosted a league-record 663 sold out crowds all-time. The Ducks led the league in average attendance during the 2016 season at 5,265 and have now led the league 14 times in 17 seasons. Ducks vs. Barnstormers: Today marks the second and third meetings of the season along with the 236th and 237th all-time meetings between the Ducks and Barnstormers. The Ducks lead the all-time series 119-116 and have a 62-51 edge at Bethpage Ballpark. Lancaster won the 2016 season series between the two teams 11-9, but the Ducks took six of the 10 meetings at Bethpage Ballpark. Bullpen Brilliance: Five Long Island relievers combined to pitch seven and twothirds innings of one-run ball in Friday s game. Tyler Levine, Jim Fuller, Zac Treece, Patrick Crider and David Aardsma gave up just seven hits and three walks out of the bullpen while striking out eight batters. In their past five games, Ducks relievers have yielded just two runs (one earned) in 18 and two-thirds innings (0.48 ERA). They ve given up 12 hits and seven walks in that span with 13 strikeouts. Cody Crushes One: Cody Puckett launched his third home run of the season on Friday with a two-run blast in the fourth inning. The longball was his first since May 5 against Southern Maryland, ending a 16-game homerless drought. Two of Puckett s three home runs have been at Bethpage Ballpark, while two of the three have also been of the two-run variety. The Ducks have now totaled 25 home runs as a team during the 2017 season. Sing Us A Song(co): Angelo Songco s on-base streak came to an end on Friday night at 16 games. The outfielder compiled a.345 batting average during the streak (20-for-58) with four doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and 11 runs. In addition, he collected at least one hit in 14 of the 16 games. The on-base streak currently stands as the longest by a Duck this season. Fonzie s on Fire: Giovanny Alfonzo had a hit in game one and two more in game two on Wednesday. He has now reached base safely in 11 straight games and has a hit in 13 of his past 15 games. He is batting.333 (17-for-51) during his past 15 games and.359 (14-for-39) during his 11-game on-base streak. Alfonzo has raised his on-base percentage from.091 to.318 during his past 15 games. The Barnstormers opened up an early 4-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and single runs in the second and third. An RBI fielder s choice off the bat of Caleb Gindl, a fielding error, a sacrifice fly from Gindl and an RBI single by Vladimir Frias did the damage. Long Island closed to within one with three runs in the fourth inning against Barnstormers starter Elih Villanueva. An RBI double to right field by Marc Krauss and a two-run home run down the left field line by Cody Puckett made it a 4-3 ballgame. The Ducks put the tying and winning runs on base in the ninth inning, but a diving play up the middle by Rico Noel prevented the Flock from pulling even. Villanueva (4-1) picked up the win, pitching five innings of three-run ball, yielding six hits and a walk while striking out three. Ducks starter Keith Couch (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on six hits in one and onethird innings. Anthony Carter collected his sixth save with a scoreless ninth despite allowing a hit and a walk. 2017 SEASON AT A GLANCE 2017 DUCKS VS.
