Race 4 J Collett on Dame Margot. RACE 1: Twilight Racing Handicap 1250m A Million Dreams Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with Georgia Hit. Agassi Was late into the enclosure as the colt was difficult to saddle. After arriving in the enclose it was established that Agassi had been presented with a cross-over nose band, which is not part of its approved gear. Co-trainer Mr E Cummings was fined the sum of $200 under AR140A. Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of Knowitall Jack, which then shifted out slightly resulting in Agassi losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Knowitall Jack Raced keenly in the middle stages. In the early part of the straight when racing tight to the inside of Skyann, was shifted to the outside of that runner passing the 350m to continue into clear running. When under over the final 200m was inclined to lay out. Molly Malone Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Skyann When questioned rider T Berry explained that although he travelled wide and without cover throughout the event, nonetheless Skyann had underperformed today, particularly in terms of market expectations and it's trackwork. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained a speedy cut to the off-hind coronet. Co-trainer Mr Hawkes advised that Skyann would now be spelled. Acting on this assurance no action was taken. Georgia Hit Slow to begin. Lonely Heart When the pace steadied mid-race Lonely Heart lost ground when being restrained when travelling behind Molly Malone. RACE 2: ANZ Bloodstock News Handicap 1550m: Celtic Love Passing the 600m was hampered and shifted out when being steadied from the heels of Maid Marilyn which itself was giving ground. As a result, Tycoon Street was hampered. Maid Marilyn When questioned rider R Hutchings explained that he had to make significant use of Maid Marilyn to lead, which is in accordance with its usual racing pattern. He said that Maid Marilyn commenced to give ground from the 600m and he believed the failure today was due to the mare's inability to lead without being pressured and then being crossed by Toryjoy. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Toryjoy R Hutchings (Maid Marilyn) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless under AR137(a) in that near the 1200m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Stock Up which was carried in, causing Toryjoy to lose its rightful running. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful of the racing manners of Toryjoy, which was racing keenly and proving difficult to settle. R Hutching's licence to ride was suspended for a period to commence on Thursday 27 th December 2018 and to expire on Wednesday 2 rd January 2019, on which day he may ride. Toryjoy was shifted to the outside of Maid Marilyn near the 1000m and was taken to the lead. Stock Up On jumping was crowded for room between Celtic Love, which shifted out and Tycoon Street which shifted in. Rider C Reith stated that his mount raced too keenly throughout the early and middle stages and as result was unable to finish its race off. He said that the poor performance was principally due to the manner in which the gelding travelled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover. Ivy s Court When questioned G Schofield said that he initially expected to make his final to run to the outside of the field. He said when Celtic Love and Tycoon Street commenced to shift out from the 600m he elected to find runs through the field. He added approaching the home turn he was concerned that Polhampton may shift out in front of him and for this reason he was cautious when commencing to improve at the 450m. Over the final 100m Tycoon Street (App R Dolan) shifted out under pressure which resulted in Ivy's Court, which was closing the race off fairly, having to be restrained approaching and passing the 50m. R Dolan was advised to exercise more care. Polhampton Slow to begin RACE 3: TAB.COM.AU Plate 1400m Darkhawk When questioned regarding the disappointed performance rider T Clark explained that he had been asked to ride the colt in a midfield position if possible. He said that despite his efforts he was unable to obtain a trailing position and consequently Darkhawk travelled wide and without cover throughout the event. He said that throughout the early and middle stages, the colt raced keenly, and this was primary the reason the colt weakening over the latter stages. He added that Darkhawk is somewhat inexperienced and the factors he detailed earlier, coupled with the increase in distance today, 2
led to Darkhawk weakening over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Flying Pierro Near the 250m shifted away from Helga and bumped Darkhawk resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. Nobu From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Social Smile When joining the course proper near the 900m, Foxpack shifted out resulting in Social Smile being taken wider and ultimately resulting in that horse travelling wide and without cover from this point. C Brown explained he was unable to fully test his mount from the 300m to 150m as the whip became entangled in the fillies mane during this time. Eveleigh Was held up until approaching the 150m and shortly afterwards become awkwardly placed on the heels of Foxpack near the 100m, at which point Eveleigh shifted out to obtain clear running. Cosmic Deluxe From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. RACE 5: Bisley Workwear Handicap 1800m Nacho Libre When questioned rider J Collett explained that he had been asked to ride the horse prominently and it was expected the gelding would effectively race one out one back. He said that throughout the early and middle stages the tempo was fast and when Aeecee Delighted the horse who he was following was unable to maintain its position and drifted towards the rear of the field mid race he similarly lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 2/5 lame in the near hindleg. Trainer Mr P Cave was reminded of his obligation to inform Stewards of any riding tactic changes. Mr Cave was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Nacho Libre racing again. Saint Katarina Rider J McDonald advised from his wide barrier elected to travel to rear of the field to avoid racing without cover. He said that when it became apparent Nacho Libre was not going to take him into the race, he elected near the 900m to shift out in an attempt to improve, however this resulted in his mount travelling wide and without cover from that point. He added however, he felt that Saint Katarina was only once paced in the straight and overall the performance was disappointing. Laguna Mountains Co- trainer Mr E Cummings was fined the sum of $200 under AR140A for presenting the gelding to the enclosure without a cross over noseband which is part of its approved gear. Aeecee Delighted Rider C Brown advised that his mount made a significant respiratory noise during the event and for this reason he eased Aeecee Delighted down over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr G Lee was advised that an upper respiratory endoscopic examination would be required and the the results to be forward to the Chief 3
