The USTA Combo Leagues are still playing. Come out and support our teams!. See the club calendar for dates of the Home matches for the 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 teams. USTA League play is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet new players and visit other clubs. This is a good time to start thinking about forming a USTA team for the Spring 2016 season. The registration runs from January 2nd through February 1st. A new Sunday Afternoon Tennis Drop-In will begin on October 4th from 2:30-4:30. Social at Attitudes Grill - October 10th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A local band, The Bears, will be playing oldies songs from the last 60 years. Come on out, have a bite to eat, relax and have fun! Our Annual Membership Meeting will be on October 19th, 6:00 p.m. at River Bend Town Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

He retired in 2012 after 40 years with Boys & Girls Clubs. When his son, Scott, was deployed in 2013, he spent nearly one year in New Bern while caring for 5 grandchildren. Norm says he loved the area and sold properties in FL and moved here in March. Interests include tennis, gardening and reading. Norm also volunteers at Truly Blessed Thrift Store in Havelock. New Member Incentives are being offered! Any club member that brings in a new member, gets free dues for one month!

MIKE S COURT REPORT Monday Clinic: 4:30 for Juniors, 5:30 for Adults. Cost $10.00. Call if weather is questionable. This includes first-rate instruction and drills, for both new and experienced players. Bring a friend out to play and brush up on your tennis strokes and strategies! Win more tennis games! Special Clinics and Drills can be arranged for teams and groups (minimum of 4). Private Lessons: $40.00 per hour. Call to schedule. Racquet Stringing: Yes. USTA Leagues: USTA Women's Combo Leagues 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 are ongoing. The HOME matches are listed on the October Calendar. I want all our ladies to have a good time and support their partners. And the most important thing to keep in mind during matches is that our club have a good reputation. TENNIS TIP Always be supportive of your partner and discuss any difference on a line call before you correct a line call.

TURKEY DOUBLES This is our Club Championship! We will play best of 3 sets, with a 10 point tiebreaker for the 3rd set! Everyone entering will be guaranteed 2 matches by having a winner and a consolation bracket. The winners move forward as they win in the winners bracket, while the first round losers move to the consolation bracket and play for a 3rd place finish. November 7 & 8 and 14 & 15. The Mixed Doubles is currently scheduled for the second weekend with an alternate date of December 5 & 6, if our Ladies' USTA Teams go to the State Tournament in Wilmington. Pick your doubles partners now and get ready for the HTRC Club Championships. Club pro, Mike See, is our tournament director. The following are the Club Champions for 2014. These champions are posted on the championship plaque in the clubhouse. Team up with another member and get your entry submitted. The deadline for entries is November 3, 2015. There will be an entry fee of $15.00. Balls and commemorative tourney T-shirts will be provided by the club. We want to see your name on the Turkey Doubles trophy!!!! Sign up in the pro shop with your T-shirt size, your partner's name, and the events you want to enter. Mike will match you with a partner if you would like. A-Level will be 3.5 and above ratings. B-Level will be 3.0 and below.

For those winners last year, you cannot play with the same partner this year! Let's have some fun with the Turkey Doubles!! We want to see some new names on the clubhouse plaque! Travel Groups: We have the opportunity to play with area clubs every other month or so, including lunch out. Dates are currently pending. Contact Bob Murphy if you are interested in participating. Thursday Evening, 5:30-7:30: Open play organized by Bob Murphy. All are welcome. Contact Bob if you want to be added to his Email list. mgmrob@suddenlink.net Sunday Afternoon Tennis Drop-In, 2:30-4:30. Will begin October 4th! No sign up is necessary. This will be a flexible group with a 4 game round robin where each player serves and after the 4th game switches around with different partners. If there is an odd number, it is not a long wait to rotate in. Or if the players are even and wish to play a full set or play singles, do whatever works! Please note, there is no designated leader for this group. Therefore, members are requested to put down all umbrellas and secure the clubhouse before leaving. If there are any questions or problems, call Mike See or a Board member. Please note that on Sunday, October 11th only Courts #5 and #6 will be available because courts #1, #2, #3 and #4 are reserved for a 3:00 p.m. USTA match.
