If you plan to show chickens for the 2009 Nolan County Jr. Livestock Show you need to turn your order into the Extension office by September 25th. NOTE: All poultry orders have to be paid at the time you order. September 2009 Texas AgriLife Extension 100 E. 3rd St, Ste 305 Sweetwater, TX 79556 Phone: 325-236-6912 325-235-3184 Fax: 325-236-9018 State Swine Tag Orders Due DEADLINE: Friday, September 18th NOTE: Barrows Only COST: $8.00 Barrows (Show at Major & County Shows): State Swine tag orders for Barrows need to be turned into the Extension office by Friday, September 18th. Tags cost $8.00 each. Gilts (Show at County Show): You do not need to turn in a tag order. County Validation Tags cost $2.00 each due after validation. NOTE: If this is your 1st year in 4-H to show an animal project, please let Zachary Wilcox know so he will be aware you will be exhibiting an animal. If you have any questions or need help, please call him at 236-6912. All State Validation Tag Orders have to be paid at the time you order. County Food Workshop Could You Be The Next Iron Chef? DATE: Tuesday, October 6th TIME: 6:30 PM PLACE: Conference Room in the Courthouse Please join us for the County Food Workshop to kick off the New 4-H Year! This is open to all Nolan County 4-H members! Those that have food and nutrition projects are strongly encouraged to attend. We will be focusing on the new Food Challenge event. Please RSVP by September 30th so adequate supplies can be purchased and teams can be formed. Please call 235-3184 and let us know if you are interested. COUNTY FOOD SHOW DATE: Saturday, October 24th Fall 4-H Shooting Sports Leaders/Coaches Workshop STARTS: Friday, September 18th @ 1PM CONCLUDES: Saturday, September 19th @ 7 PM PLACE: Monahans, TX Ward County Convention Center (Main Meeting Location) COST: $100 The program will have State 4-H Shooting Sports Instructors presenting a training program in the following disciplines: Archery, Coordinators, Pistol, Reloading Shotgun, and Muzzle Loading The fee includes registration, Friday night meal and current 4-H Shooting Sports Guide. Lodging and other meals is on your own but lodging is available in cabins at the Bentley 4-H Center for $7 per night on a first come first serve basis. County 4-H Awards Banquet If you missed the Awards Banquet, then you missed a great time of food, fun and fellowship. The Nolan 4-H Club did an excellent job with decorations. Congratulations on a job well done to all the 4-H members and adult leaders who helped with the program.
