Dave motioned to accept the Treasurer's Report, 2nd by Jeff Motion carried. North Vice Presidents Report - Steve Tatro MHOA Camp this summer went well. Steve showed everyone the manuals he handed out to each of the participants this year. Butch Glaesner came down for a couple of days to help out also. The Leslie Cup was won by the North again this year. Steve would like to see a core of 3 instructors for the upcoming camps, and get a few others to come down and work a couple of different days during the week. He left the option for any of the other Supervisors to come down and work the camp also. Dave made a motion to have Steve as the Camp Director for next year. The motion was seconded by Jim. Motion carried. Roger will make the adjustments to the MHOA Camp applications with Steve's name, address, and phone number to be on the application for next year. Steve will get copies out to everyone with any other information needed as well. Paul made a motion to accept the North Vice Presidents Report. The

motion was seconded by Jim. South Vice Presidents Report - Dennis AIm The rates for the Senior Women's games for this year will be $30.00 per official for games scheduled together, and $35.00 for single games. Dennis mention that Dennis Green would be in favor of sponsoring a meeting in the winter, when there will be a discussion regarding Jr. Gold, and the Metro Hockey League. The TC District and had a golf outing this year with a picnic also for their officials, and their families. This went over real well. Dennis and Jim think this should be expanded to the whole group for next summer. Dennis will let us know about it later next spring. The South Region Winter Meeting will be January 2,2002 at the Ramada again starting at 6;00pm. Jeff made a motion to accept Dennis' report. The motion was seconded by Dave. Motion carried. Presidents Report - Eric Olson Eric would like to see all the Supervisors extend an invitation to all the officials in their districts to join us for the Spring & Fall Meetings, especially to the officials where the district is hosting the meetings. We should all give out the dates and invitations at our seminars this fall as well. A reminder will be noted on the calendar sent out to all the Supervisors. Dennis made a motion to accept the Presidents Report. The motion was seconded by Dave. Motion carried. Minnkota Hocker Report - Minnkota mc Bill Leslie Bill met with the new Supervisor for North Dakota, Ryan Kraft. Ryan would like to cooperate with MHOA as much as possible. He would like Howard to go up to their seminars in the Fargo area, and participate with him. This will help Howard get recognition from the officials in the Moorhead area who work in District 15. He will work to assure that the adults will be working as much as possible with the younger Officials in the area as well. Last year there were 2861 Officials who registered in the Minnkota District, and 2574 that actually completed their full registration. Bill can't understand why there are over 300 who didn't complete their registration. The number of Officials that were registered Level 2 & Level 3 were about even in numbers. Bill has applications on his computer available to e-mail out to those who need registration forms right away. They would need Acrobat Reader to download these forms. USA Hockey is also using an area out east to take their tests on-line. Bill would like to have all those who are interested in attending any of the USA Hockey Camps to contact him personally. He would be able to keep track ofthe people he has sent out application to. This would help with these people getting their applications to Bill in a timely matter. Bill said Bismarck, and Minot is being considered for hosting the District Officiating Seminar next fall. Bill said he used figures from last year's totals to figure out who needed what for their materials for this year. If you would like more please contact Bill. Bill explained the differences of the Registrations forms. He wanted all the Supervisors to also let people know who call for information on the seminars, to remind them to have their member numbers with them when they sign in. USA Hockey is working at eliminating some paperwork at the seminars for registering by using the completed closed book tests. Everyone thanked Bill for his hard work over the years, and let him know how much we all appreciate him. Thank you, Bill. Dave made a motion to accept Bill's report. The

motion was seconded by Bruce. Motion carried. Seminars - Corkv Jechorek Corky handed out seminar information, and went over the contents with everyone. He reminded everyone to tell all participants of the closed books tests to put their names on the question book, as well as their answer sheet. They should also mark their answers in the questions books, in case of the chance of errors. Corky said Bruce could probably use 1 or 2 more guys to help with the St. Cloud seminar. Evaluation Prof!ram - Bruce Carlson Bruce said, USA Hockey is out of the evaluator's clipboards for those who are waiting, and they are in the process of getting more made. Bruce was only sent 500 evaluation forms so far, and is waiting to get more. If anyone is going to need more than what was handed out, you are to let Bruce know. Bruce would like to see us work at getting more of our Levell & Level 2 Officials get more evaluations. It would be ideal to do one early in the season, and then again later in the year to look for their improvements. Bruce has to give his numbers of evaluations to USA Hockey by the first of each month. Bruce would like everyone to e-mail him or call him with their figure by the 20th of each month. Bruce also said we should use our mentoring program to help with your evaluations. There was some discussion regarding a rating system to be used throughout the State. This could be shared with the Supervisors when short on people to assure the finding of suitable replacements. This should be given more thought, and discussed again at a later time. Jim made a motion to accept Bruce's Report. The motion was seconded by Dennis. Motion carried. So things look good going into the season. Richfield is now in the TC District, and South has disbanded. Supervisor Reports District TC - Dennis AIm - Dennis has been sending out a lot of applications, so things look good going into the season. Richfield is now in the TC District, and South has disbanded. - Jim Partlow -They have a new Director, and his name is Dale Maristuen. District 3 - Tim Prvzbvlski - Tim has had 1 seminar so far with over 100 attending, Tim explained the increase of the MHO A fee & no one has complained, and has actually asked why the fee wasn't more. Tim has also sent out a lot of registrations forms. The level 2 test did go over well for his seminar. District 4 - Tom Learv - Tom has a couple of seminars corning up next week. Tom will be running a new seminar at Redwood Falls this year. Tom aoesn't know what his numbers will be yet. District 5- ROfler Stephens - Roger will have 4 Regionals this year, and will be hosting the Girls 12 & Under "A" State Toumament also. If coaches receive a game misconduct they have to go before the District 5 Board. Roger has had a lot of request for applications from very young officials the most. District 6 - Dave Keml2 - Dave has sent out 22 applications, and has a couple of them coming back that was doing High School officiating before. Dave has put a11of the seminar video tapes onto one compact disk. Dave's district uses Stick Stats for there scheduling, evaluations. Dave showed the group the evaluation cards they use for the coaches, and referees. District 8 - Paulltioen - Paul said the new video on Body Contact was real1y good. Paul has a problem with too many kids that are too young and officiating for just the money. They are having too many toumaments to cover in their district with the limited amount of officials available. Paul doesn't think it is good idea for referee's working all summer long. He thinks they pick up habits, and get bumt out before the season starts up again. Paul gave notice; he wi11be retiring from his position as supervisor in 2 years. He wi11stati trying to find a replacement that is not officiating in the high school level, so there will be more attention spent 011 the USA Hockey Officiating program. District 10- Bruce Carlson - Bruce hasn't sent out any applications, and would like them to get registration form at the seminars. Bob Ray will be the doing the scheduling again in their district. Their district doesn't anow more than 4 toumaments in one weekend.

District 11- Steve Tatro - Steve said his number of officials is looking good so far. District 15 - Howard Breitkruetz - Howard is getting a lot of request for applications so far this year. They age limit of 14 years old could affect their numbers. Howard did lose a few good officials who have moved out of his district. District 16- Buzz Olson - Roger reporting on behalf of Buzz said, Things went pretty well for them, although they did have a high number of game misconducts for the aggressive type infractions. He would like to believe the new enforcement policy had something to do with it. Their mentorship program seems to be working reasonably well since they have been able to recruit a number of high school and early college kids. District IR - Jeff Walters - Jeff has 4 seminars this year, and has completed I of them already. Jeff said their district will definitely be affected by the minimum age of 14. Minnesota Hockev - Bruce Krul!er, Garv DeMeo, Jack Neveaux, Bill Gable, & Tim Sweezo Bruce thanked us all for the work done at the Jr. Gold level. He thought the crews have been exceptional. Bruce also discussed the insurance program with us for MHOA Board of Directors. The cost is at $350.00 for$i,ooo, oooliability coverage. Gary went through the specifics regarding the dinner for Saturday evening. The MHOA Board thanked Gary and Minnesota Hockey for including us to have dinner with them, and their continued support. Jack went over some concerns regarding the Child Labor Laws with the State of Minnesota. Jack mentioned the state of Minnesota has some very stringent Child Labor Laws. The states, any children under the age of 14 years old would have to apply for an exemption with the State. The children would be subject as an employee to the associations paying them. Children under the age of 16 would be able to officiate, but would be affected by some of the hours worked, and times worked. Jack, Bill Leslie, and Mark Jorgenson will be writing a letter to the State of Minnesota regarding our course of action with official's reffing games under the age of 14. Bill handed out the new Minnesota Hockey Tournament Books to all of the MHOA Board members. Bill discourages referees from officiating tournament games before the regular league games. There will also be Minnesota Hockey people at next years Regional, and State Tournaments. They will be checking in players, and coaches, and the certifications for the coaches. OLD BUSINESS I) MHOA Fees - Just a reminder of the increase for this year will be $7.00 when collecting at the seminars. 2) State Tournament Rotations, and Assignments - Went over the rotations, and the assignments. State Tournament Duties and Guidelines were handed out to everyone. Fees were discussed, and the difference from $120 to $130 ($10) will be made by MHOA. 3) Stop Signs - The girls, and squirt teams will now all have STOP Patches on their jerseys this year. We need to make sure we keep track of our major penalties for checking from behind. 4) Coaches Cards - The cards will be checked on a district by district basis. It was felt that this was not really our responsibility. 5) LCD Projector - Steve did a demo on how this is used for the MHOA Camp, and seminars. Great job Steve! We will need to reimburse Steve for the projector as soon as possible. 6) Scheduling Program - Eric is looking into writing a grant to the Minnesota Jr. Hockey League for the purchase of this program. This could be utilized by the entire metro area, and possibly more. Dennis will give us an update 0 how the program worked. The TC District will be using it on a trial basis for 60 days before a decision is made to get it. NEW BUSINESS 1) Metro Hockey League Representative - Ted Olson will be our representative for this year. There is an issue regarding scheduling, and re-scheduling. Looking at having a re-scheduling fee, and would like to have at least a 7 day notice on all re-scheduled games. 2) New Rule Changes - Went over the changes for the next two seasons. 3) Senior Hockey League - There is a big push to get as many of the Senior Hockey Teams to get registered with USA Hockey. A special seminar is scheduled to train adults to become level 1 referee's, and get a waiver for them to officiate some of these games. Officials used in this league must be certified. Every game will have a score sheet, time keeper, and score keeper. 4) Select 15 Preliminary Games - All paperwork is to go to Gary Gibbons to get paid. 5) Other - Everyone thanked Bill for the Jackets he gave us. Motion to Adjourn the MHOA Board Meeting made by JeffW. carried. 4:10 pm. Respectfully Submitted by; MHOA Secretary and second made by Dave K. Motion
