Monte Ainslie Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn and ran out over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr L Hodgson was told a warning would be recorded against the racing manners of the gelding. When questioned regarding the gelding, which was up in distance, leading today, Mr Hodgson advised that he had instructed his rider to attempt to take up a more forward position. Mr Hodgson was reminded of his obligation to notify any change in tactics. When the tractor could not be put into gear after the start was effected, the barrier stalls were unable to be completely removed from the course proper and as a consequence barrier staff positioned after the winning post corralled runners to pass to the inside of the gates after the race. Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Soft (6) at 1:10pm to be made retrospective to include this event. RACE 2: Country Style Windows Benchmark 55 Handicap 1460m Pinneux Was late arriving on course due to transport difficulties but was examined by the Club s veterinary officer and passed fit to start. Raced wide throughout. Bond Of Faith Slow to begin. Jayko After the 1200m when over-racing badly became awkwardly positioned on the heels of Hapizen and had to be checked. Continued to over-race in the middle stages.
RACE 3: Mark Hallam & Sons Builders Maiden Handicap 1460m Shine A Light Kicked out after being loaded and after being examined by the Club s veterinary officer was found to have sustained lacerations to its near-hind leg and was a late withdrawal at 2:12pm. When questioned, rider app A Sweeney stated that as his mount over-raced last start at Nowra on 4 October 2016, today he allowed his mount to settle where comfortable in an endeavour to have it settled. He added that as a consequence his mount had raced off the back of the field but from the 500m when he placed his mount under pressure his mount then finished its race off very well. App Sweeney was told that the solid tempo of the race had advantaged his mount in being able to run home today but ordinarily he should have made more effort sooner than he did and prior to the 500m, to improve onto the back of the field to put his mount into the race. Likeable Lucy When questioned, rider J Penza stated that his mount commenced to hang out after making the first turn and continued to do so throughout the middle stages. He added that shortly after straightening his mount commenced to shorten stride and as he became concerned that something may have gone amiss with the mare, he eased it down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have swelling to its near knee and associated lameness. Trainer Mr F Cleary was told that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the mare being required to barrier trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to it being permitted to race again. RACE 4: Sheridan Garage Doors Maiden Handicap 1460m Llamrei Slow to begin. Stanley Over-raced in the middle stages. Standoubt When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider app B Ryan stated that his mount was unusually relaxed en route to the start whereas it usually pulls. He added that his mount raced flat throughout, hung out making the turns and did not respond to his riding in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Hello China Trainer Mr M Smith was advised that a warning would be recorded against the gelding which proved difficult to load. When questioned, rider J Kissick stated that his mount put in an awkward stride passing the 500m but did not respond to his riding in the straight and was disappointing. Trainer Mr M Smith stated that whilst the gelding was disappointing today in his view it is better suited on softer going. Midnight Obsession Rider J Penza was reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than is permitted under the Rule. RACE 7: Audrey Sharp Memorial Maiden Plate 900m Our Girl Rocks When questioned, rider B Ward stated that his mount which was on debut, did not show its anticipated early speed and as a consequence from its wide draw was unable to cross runners drawn to its inside and subsequently raced wide throughout. He further added that the filly then failed to respond to his riding in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormality. Silver Comet When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider J Penza stated that his mount did not begin as well today as it had at its initial start at Goulburn on 18 September 2016, but nevertheless was able to take up a share of the lead under his riding. He added that his mount was then under from the 600m and did not run under pressure in the straight and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality.

Was subsequently withdrawn on veterinary advice at 5:21pm when also found to have blood present in its right nostril due to having made contact with the front gate in the incident.
