VOLUME 17 NUMBER 4 SEPTEMBER 2017 CHAPTER UPDATE BY: JUDITH BERNSTEIN, Chapter Chair At our June 22ND Membership Meeting at Four Brothers in Mahopac, we learned that Doodling, a form of drawing, can relax and keep your mind active. Doodle your way and retain hand muscle strength, hand eye coordination, reduce levels of stress hormone Cortisol, while strengthening your grip strength. Our speaker DOODLING Kathleen Jordan Pasquale, a local artist, was Kathleen Jordan Pasquale very knowledgeable in providing this help. She distributed drawings and encouraged us to doodle. Check out the one on the right. Think it s easy? Looks like Escher, but it isn t. So, start with a drawn square and lower each new line at a proposed new point along the next line. Door prize winners were Dorothy Patterson, Laura Laibowitz, Noreen Morris, Carla Houston, Elaine Woodard, and Charles Bobelis. John Furst won a door prize and 50/50. Two beautiful potted orchids were donated by Edith Tighe as door prizes. I reminded guests to vote against Constitutional Convention that will be on the ballot in November. In addition, handouts were distributed explaining the facts. Our Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 12TH at Pastina s on Central Avenue in Hartsdale. Our Speaker will be Assemblymember Shelly Mayer from District 90. Some topics will include Constitutional Convention (Con Con), and Continued Efforts to Resist Changes in Retirees Benefits. See Flyer on page 3. At the Annual Meeting we will be voting for our new Steering Committee. The slate of Candidates are listed on the back of the newsletter. Plus, further nominations will be accepted from the floor. On Tuesday, October 10TH, Dorothy Patterson will lead us to the Hunterdon Hills Play House. Lunch will be served and the matinee performance will be Neil Simon s, Come Blow Your Horn, a comedy play. See insert.
