Members Handbook Amendments The following current amendments have been made to the Members Handbook since its publication: The 2017 British Showjumping Members Handbook is available on the website. Rules that have been amended since the 2017 addition are identified in red ink through out. As at 26/03/2017 Rule 75 - Schedules Wording amended as follows; Category 2 Classes permitted in this level range from British Novice to National 1.40m. Club can be combined with this Category. No National Amateur classes are permitted in this category. Maximum prize fund of 2,999 ( 3,500 as of 01/10/2017) per show day. All British Showjumping National qualifying classes will have a minimum prize level, dictated by the 1st prize, as below.... Category 3 3,000 ( 3,501 as of 01/10/2017) + prize money to be scheduled on any one day in the Category 3 ring. Rule 101.3 - Hats Wording in red added; American - All SEI ASTM F1163 04a onwards and SNELL E2001 and SNELL E2016 Rule 102.8 - Saddlery & Equipment Wording amended as follows; (b) (As of 01.04.2017) Pelham s with a shank exceeding 6cms, measured at maximum extension from bot tom of mouth piece to bottom of the bit, may not be ridden with one rein when using the ring below the mouthpiece and must be ridden with roundings s, split reins or two reins. Pelham s with shank not exceeding maximum 6cms may be ridden with one rein. The total length of the Pelham may not exceed 15cms. Rule 323 - Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Qualifier - Second Round Insert the following wording in red. Entry Qualifications: For registered horses to be ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior Members, excluding any rider listed on the British Showjumping Gold League as of 31st March 2016. As at 22/03/2017 Rule 310.4 - Senior Foxhunter - First Round Insert the following wording: 310.4 Please refer to the Senior Course Specifcation Tables. A water tray or water type jump compulsory being minimum spread 1.20m (4ft), maximum spread 3m (10ft) outdoors 2.75m (9ft indoors) with at least two poles over and a Water Jump type take off element in front must be in all outdoor Foxhunter First Round Competitions

As at 15/03/2017 Area Representative Section Jeanne Bullock removed as Area Representative for Lancashire (Area 17) following her resignation. As at 14/02/2017 Rule 45 - Measurement Update JMB wording as follows; 6 Members of British Showjumping are subject to the rules of the Joint Measurement Board Ltd. for the time being in force, which can be obtained from the Secretary of the Joint Measurement Board Ltd., P.O. Box 322, Horley, Surrey, RH6 0WS. The rules include the list of official measurers and the fees required. Meas urements can be made throughout the year but annual certificates expire on the 31 st December each year as per the Joint Measurement Board Ltd rules. 7 No pony which has graded winnings of 50 (Actual) or more will be accepted for registration or reregistration until it has been measured under the rules of 53 Section 1 the Joint Measurement Board Ltd. and a valid measurement certificate has been issued to the owner. When a pony s winnings first exceed 50 (actual) certificate is not requested until the next occasion of re-registration the owner will be notified allowing 28 days to gain a valid measurement. However, ponies may not compete in National Champion ships without a valid JMB height certificate measurement. The Joint Measurement Board Ltd. will notify the owner NOT British Showjumping of the confirmed measurement and it is the owners responsibility to inform British Showjumping of the measurement outcome. Rule 75 - Schedules Amend Club wording as follows; Faults Knock down Four faults refusal Four faults Second refusal (anywhere on course) Eight faults refusal (anywhere on course) Elimination Fall (anywhere on course) Elimination clock with a time limit of two minutes allowed. Time allowed will be based on a speed of 300mpm. Every commenced period of 1 second in excess of time allowed will be penalised by 1 time penalty. The time limit is twice the time allowed exceeding this will incur elimination. If a combination compete in more than two consecutive height classes per show day only the points from the bigger classes will be graded (excluding clear rounds). All other faults as British Showjumping Handbook First Third No Rule - 310 & 311 - Senior Foxhunter Championship First & Second Round Insert the Equitop Myoplast Prefix and wording regarding rosettes. As at 01/02/2017 Rule 33 - Categories of Membership 5.Junior membership is available until the end of the calendar year in which theage of 16 is reached and confers the General Privileges (Rule 32.1) and the right to compete as the rider of a pony or horse in a competition held at a show affiliated to British Showjumping, subject to the rules and conditions of the competition, but additionally confers the right to compete as the rider of a pony in a competition held at a show affiliated to the FEI or any national federation in membership of the FEI subject to the rules and conditions for that competi-

tion. See also Rule 33.10 for Visiting Junior membership. Junior members are eligible to compete on horses in the year in which the age of 12 is reached. It is a condition of Junior membership that an adult of the Junior Member s immediate family (father,mother, brother or sister) or his or her legally appointed guardian is a Life, Full,owner or non-jumping Member of British Showjumping who takes responsibility for the Junior Member and acts on his or her behalf in all competitive matters including the ownership of his or her ponies, which must be registered in the ownership of the relative. If it is not possible for an immediate relative to act in this capacity, application must be made to the Chief Executive stating the reason and proposing the name of a Life, Full, non- jumping or owner Member of British Showjumping who has agreed to take responsibility for the Junior Member and to act as guardian for the purposes of this Rule. Rule 67 - British Showjumping League Overview Bronze Leagues Rider Eligibility The following riders are exempt from the Bronze League Championships and Finals and will not appear on the league tables: Silver Leagues Rider Eligibility The following riders are exempt from the Bronze League Championships and Finals and will not appear on the league tables: Rule 192C - Table A8 Amend as follows; For competitions over one round and two jump offs, the time to be taken into consideration in each round in order to determine placings and qualifying positions in the event of equality of faults. All those placed equal first go forward to the first jump-off. All those then placed equal first qualify for the second jump-off. Double clear points will only be awarded to those competitors that jump clear across all three rounds. Rule 324 - Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Qualifier - First Round Amend Wording as follows; 2. Table: A7, Single Phase, Two Phase Rule 418 - British Showjumping 11 Years and Under (Inc. The Style & Performance Qualifier) 1 Open to registered ponies not exceeding 138cms to be ridden by Junior Members born on or after 1 January 2006.Pony/Rider combinations that have completed in the Winter Second Rounds or qualified for HOYS or RIHS are not eligible to compete. Competitors may only ride a maximum of two ponies in the final. For The Style & Performance Section: Open to registered ponies not exceeding 138cms to be ridden by Junior Members born on or after 1 January 2007. The first three eligible pony/rider combinations disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the final. Competitors may only ride one pony in the final. Rule 408 - Pony Discovery Championship Series - Removal of the Haygain Prefix. Fall (anywhere on course) Elimination As at 23/01/2017 Rule 67 - British Showjumping League Overview: Bronze Leagues (date of implementation - 01.04.17):Updated wording as follows due to the implementation of new restrictions; Rider Eligibility The following riders are exempt from the Bronze League: (As of 01.04.2017) No rider will be eligible for the Bronze League Final if they have another horse in the Silver League during the respective league period. Furthermore, riders who accumulate points in the Silver League will be ineligible to participate in the Bronze League Direct Qualifiers/Semi Finals or Championship forone year (Summer and Winter League period). Rule 415 - Springboard 128cms / 138cms Restricted Handicap (date of implementation - 01.08.17, the next qualifying period): In the 128cms Section Junior riders are eligible to enter, irrespective of Points achieved, before the calendar year in which the age of 10 years is reached. Riders who reach the age of 10 years and over in the current calendar year must not have won a total of 500 Points (as of 01.08.2017 pony/rider combination). In the 138cms Section, Pony riders are eligible to enter, irrespective of Points achieved, before the calen dar year in which the age of 12 is reached. Riders who reach the age 12 years and over in the current cal endar year must not have won a total of 850 Points (as of 01.08.2017 pony/rider combination). Rule 102.4 - Saddlery & Equipment (date of implementation - 01.04.17): Market Harborough reins are no longer permitted, wording amended as follows; 4 A gag snaffle may be used. A Market Harborough rein (As of 01.04.17) and all other running or check reins and reins acting through sheaves or pulleys are prohibited in the arena. Rule 102.4 - Saddlery & Equipment (date of implementation - 01.04.17): The use of tongue straps are forbidden, wording amended as follows; 5 The use of tongue straps are forbidden (As of 01.04.17). The use of string, fine wire, twine or cord in or around a horse s or pony s mouth is also forbidden. Properly constructed tongue guards, which are detached from the reins and bit, are permitted. Rule 102.8 - Saddlery & Equipment: Pony Tack Rules: Insert amendments (in red) as follows (date of implementation - 01.04.17); Pony Tack Rules The following additional restrictions apply to pony competitors only: (a) Correctly fitted standing and running martingales only to be used (can be used together). Any type of running reins, Market Harborough reins, hackamores (see * below), bitless bridles and combination bits are not permitted in the arena, practice area or anywhere in the immediate vicinity of the showground. * (As of 01.04.2017) Hackamores to be permitted for 148cms Pony Gold League classes only. No other bit is permitted to be used with the hackamore. (c) (As of 01.04.2017) Nosebands must be constructed of leather and should be fitted flat against the

head of the pony. Only one noseband may be worn. Rope, elastic or chained nosebands are not permitted. (d) (As of 01.04.2017) Standing martingales must be attached to a flat leather surface cavesson nose band that is at least 2cms wide.
