Specific issues of concern on Stage 2 Ballylongford: The route makes a sharp right turn at Ballylongford (11.8km). the junction is a 4 way intersection and is quite narrow and can be complicated by parked vehicles. While the exit is wider than the entrance it tightens up at the entrance to the garage and the fuel pump. There are a number of well polished metal manhole covers located around the racing line. a. General view of the approach to the junction at Ballylongford b. General view of the approach to the junction at Ballylongford

c. Junction at Ballylongford d. Exit from the junction at Ballylongford

e. Manhole covers at the junction at Ballylongford Glin: The route takes a right turn across the N69 at Glin. While the race organisation will make every effort to ensure that the riders can race through it must be borne in mind that we are using open roads and so care should be observed. There is a slip road that is normally not open to traffic turning right. It is expected that riders will use this roadway and traffic will be stopped some distance further up the village a. View of the junction at Glin

Athea: There is a T junction at Athea. It is approached three (3) times by the riders. There are bends to the left and then to the right on the approach. The junction is at the base of a hill. The exit is wide and free of manhole covers but there are some markings on the road. a. The start of the approach to the T junction at Athea b. Note the decreasing radius of the bend and the increasing gradient

c. Right hand bend with adverse camber and increasing gradient d. Approach to the T junction e. Exit from the T junction

f. View towards the finish at the end of the low wall on the left hand side of the road The road between Carrigkerry and Ardagh: There are some deep culverts at the left hand side of the road that end in concrete pipes. There are a number of such installations on the route. Ardagh: The route meets a 4 way junction that is controlled by traffic lights at Ardagh. It is expected that the route will be controlled by a Garda on point duty. However riders are advised to take the junction with care. The approach to the junction is technical. It is a fast descent through a right and a left bend to the corner. There are two manhole covers in the road at the junction. a. First bend on the approach to Ardagh

b. Decreasing radius and increasing gradient on the bend c. Traffic lights d. Exit from the junction

e. Two manhole covers at the junction
