The Cavaliers have won four of their last six games, scoring at least 111 points in each of those wins. After averaging 92.4 points through the first 20 contests of the 2013-14 season, Cleveland has averaged 101.0 points over their last 20 games (since Dec. 10). During the five-game road trip (3-2), the Cavs averaged 105.2 points, including 15.0 second chance points, 45.6 points in the paint, a.418 (38-91) mark from the three-point line, 21.4 assists and only 11.4 turnovers. The Cavs wrapped up their road trip with a 117-109 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Friday for their 6 th win against the West this season. Among teams in the East, only Indiana (10), Miami (10) and Atlanta (7) have more wins versus the Western Conference than the Cavs. Luol Deng will play his first game at The Q as a Cavalier today after coming off a solid road trip where he averaged 18.4 points, including.500 (8-16) from the three-point line, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals in 30.6 minutes per game. With 473 career steals, Anderson Varejao is just two steals away from passing John Bagley (474) for 8 th place in franchise history. Varejao swiped a season-high tying three steals at Denver on Friday, while also adding seven points, a game-high 16 rebounds, a season-high seven assists and one block in 31 minutes. He has grabbed at least 11 rebounds in 10 of the last 11 contests (since Dec. 29), averaging 14.2 rebounds to go along with 10.4 points, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks in 32.6 minutes over that stretch. Tristan Thompson registered his third consecutive double-double in Friday s win at Denver after posting 20 points on 8-9 (.889) shooting, 10 rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 37 minutes. He has 19 double-doubles on the season which is the 2 nd -most in the Eastern Conference. Thompson has also notched a double-double in eight of the last 11 games (since Dec. 29), including six of the last seven. On the season, Anderson Varejao (10.2, 3rd in East) and Tristan Thompson (9.8, 4th in East) are pulling down a combined 20.0 rebounds per game, which is the 2nd-highest for a rebounding duo in the Eastern Conference (Drummond/Monroe 21.5). The two big men combined for 27 points, 26 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks in the victory at Denver on Friday. Kyrie Irving has scored at least 20 points in eight of the last nine games at The Q (since Dec. 4), averaging 27.6 points, 7.8 assists and 1.0 steal in 37.1 minutes over that span. In the win over Denver, Irving poured in a team-high 23 points on 9-16 (.563) shooting, four rebounds, six assists and one block in 33 minutes. He has 19 games of at least 20 points this season and leads all East point guards in scoring (21.5). In nine January games, C.J. Miles is averaging 16.4 points on.515 (50-97) shooting, including a.542 (26-48) mark from beyond the arc, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.7 minutes. ANOTHER P.O.W.: On Dec. 16, Kyrie Irving was named as the NBA s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Dec. 9-15. DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: In an 88-82 win over the L.A. Clippers on Dec. 7, Cleveland held Los Angeles to 28-87 (.322) shooting from the field, a seasonlow by a Cavaliers opponent. The last time Cleveland held an opponent to.322 shooting or less was November 18, 2003 which was also against the L.A. Clippers (.319). Cleveland also held them to 7-35 (.200) shooting from the three-point line and outrebounded the Clippers 60-45. The 60 rebounds were a season-high for the Cavs and the first time hitting that mark since February 25, 2011 versus New York (62 rebounds). RARE NUMBERS: In a 98-88 win over Denver on Dec. 4, Tristan Thompson, who had 13 rebounds in the first half to tie for the 3 rd most in The Q s history for most rebounds in a single half, finished the night with 17 points, a career-high 21 rebounds and a season-high three blocks. The only other player in Cavaliers history with a game in which he equaled or exceeded Thompson's totals in each of those categories (since the NBA began tracking blocked shots in 1973-74) is Cliff Robinson, who had three such games for Cleveland (two in 1982-83 and one the following season). BLOCK PARTY: Cleveland blocked a season-high 13 shots in a 98-88 win against Denver on Dec. 4, the team s most since March 16, 2004 (13 blocks vs. CHI). The Cavs have also had consecutive 10-plus blocks performances this season (10 blocks versus Philadelphia on Nov. 9 and 11 blocks at Chicago on Nov. 11) for the first time since swatting 10 or more shots in consecutive games on Dec. 5-6, 2008 (10 blocks vs. IND, 10 blocks at CHA, respectively). Irving had 18 of his 41 points come in the 4th quarter (9) and overtime (9). It was the 3 rd time in his career he has scored at least 40 points (41 at NYK on 12/15/12 and 40 vs. BOS on 1/22/13). Irving also scored 39 points in a 127-125 doubleovertime win over Philadelphia on Nov. 9, when he also became the 3 rd Cavs player to ever tally 39 points, five rebounds and 12 assists in a single game (LeBron James and Mark Price). NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE - CANTON CHARGE CANTON CHARGE UPDATE: The Canton Charge, the NBA Development League team owned and operated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell to the Springfield Armor, 110-103, at the MassMutual Center on Friday night. Canton is now 12-8 overall this season and 9-5 in the East Division play. Kevin Jones finished with a team-high 20 points with four rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes.
