Friend RACE 1: Class 1 Handicap 1012m: Advalady Declared a late scratching by order of stewards, acting on veterinary advice, at 11.27am after the filly was found to be lame in the off hind leg. Foreman Mr G. Milligan was advised that the filly requires a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start. Cheat m Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m. Laura s Star Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Mayfair Lady Slow to begin. Pulled in the early and middle stages. Rounding the home turn was steadied after improving onto heels and was unable to be fully tested from this point to the 300m. Miss Honeyflow Slow to begin. Ms Wicked Nicci A post race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormality. Old Trieste Inclined to pull in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to improve to near the 350m. Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m. Plectrum Eased after improving onto heels passing the 800m. Scatter Blast Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Tarlee Lane Approaching the home turn was eased after improving onto heels and was obliged to shift out abruptly around heels at the entrance to the straight to obtain clear running.

Overraced in the middle stages. Bumped on two occasions at the entrance to the straight. Near the 200m was obliged to ease in around heels to continue to improve. RACE 5: Daniel Baker Prelude 1215m Abohar Slow to begin and steadied when tightened for room shortly after. Laid in down the straight and proved difficult to ride with full vigour. Brotherly Secret Eased after improving onto heels near the 500m. Jack the Ringer Slow to begin. Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Passing the 350m was steadied for a number of strides when awkwardly placed on the heels of Push the Sky Away which shifted in. Apprentice Ms O. A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality other than it had lost its off hind shoe. Push the Sky Away Slow to begin. RACE 6: Sawtell Cup 1515m: Balius When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding jockey P. Graham stated that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages and passing the 600m he was confident of its chances. P. Graham stated that when asked to improve approaching the home turn his mount responded only fairly and failed to let down strongly in the straight. When questioned, trainer Mr B. Witt stated the gelding had worked well leading into the event and he was very confident of its chances today. B. Witt stated the only excuse he could make for the gelding was that it best form in on rain affected going and that it was reluctant to stretch out on the dryer conditions today. Mr Witt undertook to provide the results of a blood test on the gelding in the
5 coming days and report anything amiss with the gelding that may explain its performance. Mr Witt added he would assess how the gelding pulled up before making a decision on its immediate racing future. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality.
