Introduction and Setup Acceptance air leakage testing of the refurbished dwelling at Rectory Cottage, in Langattock, Powys, was carried out on the 24 th March 2015. Testing was carried out using a Retrotec 300 DucTester mounted in a window board at the rear of the ground floor. Testing was carried out in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 13829 and the BINDT Quality Procedure, in conformance with the ATTMA TSL1 standard (2010), Method B. Any queries or complaints about this test should be addressed in the first instance to the test engineer and in the second instance to BINDT. BINDT contact details: Newton Building, St. George s Avenue, Northampton NN2 6JB Tel: 01604893860 www.bindt.org All external doors and windows, other than that where the test equipment was mounted, were shut for the duration of testing, whilst internal doors and walls were not yet fitted so free movement of air within the property was assured. The pictures below illustrate key parts of the equipment and test set-up used: P2) Internal view of test equipment mounted in window board in open LR window P3) External view of test equipment mounted in window board in open LR window P4) Temporary sealing of filters in MVHR unit to exclude ventilation air leakage JALDAS Airtightness Test Report: Rectory Cottage Acceptance Test Page 2 of 12

P5) Trap fitted beneath sink and filled with water to prevent leakage P6) Trap fitted where basin will be fitted in shower room, filled with water to prevent leakage Measurement Procedures Test procedures in accordance with the following standards: ATTMA TSL1, 2010, Method B. After a preliminary single-point depressurisation test and leakage check, two particular elements of additional sealing were carried out, followed by a full multi-point depressurisation test. This was followed by a full multi-point pressurisation test, as required for Passivhaus certification. Dwelling Volume m3 (PHI conventions) Envelope area m2 (ATTMA conventions) Rectory Cottage, Langattock, Crickhowell, Powys NP8 1PH 348 m³ 350 m² Measurements Recorded: Averages of zero flow pressure differentials were recorded before and after the test, as were internal and external temperatures, windspeed and barometric pressure. Leakage Inspection Whilst the house was depressurised, an extensive check for leakage was carried out. The following leakage sites were identified; some were addressed before full testing started. P7) Leakage at mastic joint between sections of Living Room window. Resealed before test. P8) Residual leakage through one particular electrical socket in upstairs front wall P9) Leakage found through blockwork gable end in loft space; also between blockwork and edge of last roof joist next to wall P10) Leakage found through various imperfections in blockwork wall P11) Looking vertically upwards at edge of end joist against gable wall. Leakage occurring through gap as shown. JALDAS Airtightness Test Report: Rectory Cottage Acceptance Test Page 10 of 12

P12) Substantial leakage through considerable gap around waste pipe connected to ground floor WC P13) Gap filled with expanding foam and then oversealed with suitable mastic, prior to carrying out acceptance test Comments & Conclusions: The results achieved, an average Air Change Rate of 0.63 AC/Hr @ 50 Pa and an average Air Permeability of 0.62 m3/hr/m2 @ 50 Pa are excellent, meeting the EnerPHit target ( 1.0 AC/Hr @ 50 Pa) by a substantial margin. Congratulations to Craig and his team of builders. An Air Leakage Certificate has been issued, a copied of which is attached.
