Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazaan, and Ahmad Bin Idrees, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, altogether from Safwan Bin Yahya, from Salim Abu Al Fazl, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The Ablution (Wudhu) does not break except by what comes out from your two lower ends which Allah azwj has Favoured upon you by these two. 1 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن م ح م د ب ن س ه ل ع ن ز ك ر ي ا ب ن آد م ق ال س أ ل ت الر ض ا ) عليه السالم ( ع ن الن اس ور أ ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء ق ال إ ن م ا ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء ث ال ث ال ب و ل و ال غ ائ ط و الر يح. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad,f rom Muhammad Bin Sahl, from Zakariyya Bin Adam who said, I asked Al-Reza asws about the nose bleed, Does it break the Ablution (Wudhu)? He asws said: But rather, three things break the Ablution (Wudhu) the urine, and the faeces, and the wind. 2 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن م ع او ي ة ب ن ع م ار ق ال ق ال أ ب و ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( إ ن الش ي ط ان ي ن ف ن س ان ح ت ي خ ي ل إ ل ي ه أ ن ه ق د خ ر ج م ن ه ر يح ف ال ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء إ ل ر يح ت س م ع ه ا أ و ت ج د ر يح ه ا. ف ي د ب ر ا ل Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muawiya Bin Ammar who said, Abu Abdullah asws said: The Satan la blows into the anus of the human being until it seems to him that a wind has come out from him. (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: There is not, with regards to a pumpkin seed and the small insects, an Ablution (Wudhu). But rather, it is at the status of the lice. 4 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ال ح س ن ب ن أ خ ي ف ض ي ل ع ن ف ض ي ل ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ف ي الر ج ل ي خ ر ج م ن ه م ث ل ح ب ال ق ر ع ق ال ل ي س ع ل ي ه و ض وء. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Al Hassan Bin Akhay Fuzayl, from Fuzayl, from, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws regarding the man from whom comes out similar to a seed. He asws said: There is no Ablution (Wudhu) upon him. و ر و ي إ ذ ا ك ان ت م ل ط خ ة ب ال ع ذ ر ة أ ع اد ال و ض وء. And it is reported that when (such things) are stained with the faeces, repeat the Ablution (Wudhu). 5 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ح م اد ع ن ح ر يز ع ن ز ر ار ة ق ال ق ل ت ل ب ي ج ع ف ر و ل ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( م ا ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء ف ق ا ل م ا ي خ ر ج م ن ط ر ف ي ك ا ل س ف ل ي ن م ن الد ب ر و الذ ك ر غ ائ ط أ و ب و ل أ و م ن ي أ و ر يح و الن و م ح ت ي ذ ه ب ال ع ق ل و ك ل الن و م ي ك ر ه إ ل أ ن ت ك ون ت س م ع ال و ت. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hareyz who said, I said to Abu Ja far asws and Abu Abdullah asws, What breaks the Ablution (Wudhu)? So they asws both said: Whatever comes out from your two lower ends, from the backside and the manhood, faeces or urine or semen or wind; and the sleep until the intellect goes (loose awareness). All sleep is disliked, except if you happens to hear the sounds (in consciousness). 6 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن ال ع م ر ك ي ع ن ع ل ي ب ن ج ع ف ر ع ن أ خ يه م وس ) عليه السالم ( ق ال س أ ل ت ه ع ن الر ج ل ه ل ي ل ح ل ه أ ن ي س ت د خ ل الد و اء ث م ي ل ي و ه و م ع ه أ ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء ق ال ل ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء و ل ي ل ي ح ت ي ط ر ح ه. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Al Amraky, (It has been narrated) from Ali son of Ja far asws, from his brother asws Musa asws, said, I asked him asws about the man, Is it correct for him that he inserts the medicine, then he prays Salaat and it is with him. Would it break the Ablution (Wudhu)? He asws said: It would not break the Ablution (Wudhu), and he should not pray Salaat until he removes it. 7 ع د ة م ن أ ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن ع ل ي ب ن ال ح ك م ع ن ال ح س ي ن ب ن أ ب ي ال ع ال ء ق ال س أ ل ت أ ب ا ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ع ن الر ج ل ي ت ج ش أ ف ي خ ر ج م ن ه ش ي ء أ ي ع يد ال و ض وء ق ال ل. I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the man who belched, so something came out from him, Should he repeat the Ablution (Wudhu)? He asws said: No. 8 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن اب ن أ ذ ي ن ة ع ن أ ب ي أ س ام ة ق ال س أ ل ت أ ب ا ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ع ن ال ق ي ء ه ل ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء ق ال ل. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ibn Azina, from Abu Asama who said, I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the vomit, Would it break the Ablution (Wudhu)? So he asws said: No. 9 ع د ة م ن أ ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د و أ ب و د او د ع ن ال ح س ي ن ب ن س ع يد ع ن ف ض ال ة ع ن أ ب ان ع ن ع ب ي د ب ن ز ر ار ة ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ق ال إ ذ ا ق اء الر ج ل و ه و ع ل ط ه ر ف ل ي ت م ض م ض. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, and Abu Dawood, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Fazalat, from Aban, from Ubeyd Bin Zurara, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: When the man vomits and he is upon purity, so let him rinse his mouth. 10 م ح م د ب ن إ س م اع يل ع ن ال ف ض ل ب ن ش اذ ان ع ن ف و ان ب ن ي ح ي ع ن اب ن م س ك ان ع ن م ح م د ال ح ل ب ي ق ال س أ ل ت أ ب ا ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ع ن الر ج ل ي ك ون ع ل ط ه ر ف ي أ خ ذ م ن أ ظ ف ار ه أ و ش ع ر ه أ ي ع يد ال و ض وء ف ق ال ل و ل ك ن ي م س ح ر أ س ه و أ ظ ف ار ه ب ال م اء Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazaan, from Safwan Bin Yahya, from Ibn Muskan, from Muhammad Al Halby who said, I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the man who happens to be upon purity, so he takes from his nails, or his hair, Should he repeat the Ablution (Wudhu)? So he asws said: No, but he should wipe his head and his nails, with the water. ق ال ق ل ت ف إ ن ه م ي ز ع م ون أ ن ف يه ال و ض وء ف ق ال إ ن خ ا م وك م ف ال ت خ ا م وه م و ق ول وا ه ك ذ ا الس ن ة. He (the narrator) said, I said, But they (people) are claiming that with regards to it is the Ablution (Wudhu). So he asws said: If they were to dispute with you, so do not dispute with them, and you should say, The Sunnah is like this. 11 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ج م يل ع ن ز ر ار ة ع ن أ ب ي ج ع ف ر ) عليه السالم ( ق ال ل ي س ف ي ال ق ب ل ة و ل م س ال ف ر ج و ل ال م ب اش ر ة و ض وء. Muhammad Bin Al Hassan, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Ibn Muskan, from Abu Baseer, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws, said, I asked him asws about the nose bleed and the cupping, and every blood which flows. So he asws said: There is no Ablution (Wudhu) in this. But rather, the Ablution (Wudhu) is from your two lower ends which Allah azwj the Exalted has Favoured with these two upon you. 13 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن م ع م ر ب ن خ ال د ق ال س أ ل ت أ ب ا ال ح س ن ) عليه السالم ( ع ن ر ج ل ب ه ع ل ة ل ي ق د ر ع ل ا ل ض ط ج اع و ال و ض وء ي ش ت د ع ل ي ه و ه و ق اع د م س ت ن د ب ال و س ائ د ف ر ب م ا أ غ ف و ه و ق اع د ع ل ت ل ك ال ح ال ق ال ي ت و ض أ ق ل ت ل ه إ ن ال و ض وء ي ش ت د ع ل ي ه ل ح ال ع ل ت ه ف ق ال إ ذ ا خ ف ي ع ل ي ه ال و ت ف ق د و ج ب ال و ض وء ع ل ي ه و ق ال ي خ ر الظ ه ر و ي ل يه ا م ع ال ع ر ي ج م ع ب ي ن ه م ا و ك ذ ل ك ال م غ ر ب و ال ع ش اء. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Moammar Bin Khallad who said, I asked Abu Al-Hassan asws about a man with an illness, not be able upon the lying down, and the Ablution (Wudhu) is difficult upon him, and he sits leaning with the pillow. So sometimes he dozes off and he is seated upon that state. He asws said: When the sounds are concealed from him, the Ablution (Wudhu) is Obligated upon him. And he asws said: He can delay Al-Zohr (Salaat) and pray with along with Al-Asr, gathering between the two, and similar to that is Al-Magrib and Al-Isha. 14 م ح م د ب ن إ س م اع يل ع ن ال ف ض ل ب ن ش اذ ان و م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن م ح م د ب ن ال ح س ي ن ع ن ف و ان ب ن ي ح ي ع ن ع ب د الر ح م ن ي ق ول ب ن ال ح ج اج ق ال س أ ل ت أ ب ا ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ع ن ال خ ف ق ة و ال خ ف ق ت ي ن ف ق ال م ا أ د ر ي م ا ال خ ف ق ة و ال خ ف ق ت ان إ ن للا ن سان ع ل ن ف س ه ب ير ة إ ن ع ل ي ا ) عليه السالم ( ك ان ي ق ول م ن و ج د ط ع م الن و م ق ائ ما أ و ق اع دا ف ق د و ج ب ع ل ي ه ب ل ا ل ال و ض وء. Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazaan, and Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Safwan Bin Yahya, from Abdul Rahman Bin Al Hakkan who said, I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the (sleeping for) a heartbeat or two heartbeats. So he asws said: I asws do not know what is (sleeping for) the heartbeat or two heartbeats. Allah azwj is Saying [75:14] But! The human being has an insight unto himself. Ali asws was saying: The one who finds the taste of sleep while standing, or sitting, so the Ablution (Wudhu) is Obligated upon him. 15 ع ل ي ب ن م ح م د ع ن اب ن ج م ه ور ع م ن ذ ك ر ه ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن س ع د ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ق ال أ ذ ن ان و ع ي ن ان ت ن ام ال ع ي ن ان و ل ت ن ام ا ل ذ ن ان و ذ ل ك ل ي ن ق ض ال و ض وء ف إ ذ ا ن ام ت ال ع ي ن ان و ا ل ذ ن ان ان ت ق ض ال و ض وء. break the Ablution (Wudhu). So when the two eyes sleep and the two ears (sleep as well), the Ablution (Wudhu) breaks. 16 أ ح م د ب ن إ د ر يس و م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن م ح م د ب ن أ ح م د ع ن أ ح م د ب ن ال ح س ن ع ن ع م ر و ب ن س ع يد ع ن م د ق ب ن د ق ة ع ن ع م ار الس اب اط ي ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ق ال الر ج ل ي ق ر ض م ن ش ع ر ه ب أ س ن ان ه أ ي م س ح ه ب ال م اء ق ب ل أ ن ي ل ي ق ال ل ب أ س إ ن م ا ذ ل ك ف ي ال ح د يد. Ahmad Bin Idrees, and Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Ahmad, from Ahmad Bin Al Hassan, from Amro Bin Saeed, from Musaddaq Bin Sadaqa, from Ammar Al Sabaty, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws, said: The man cuts his hair with his teeth, should he wipe it with the water before he prays Salaat? He asws said: There is no problem. But rather, that is regarding (cutting it with) the iron. 17 باب الر ج ل ي ط أ ع ل ى ال ع ذ ر ة أ و غ ي ر ه ا م ن ال ق ذ ر Chapter 24 The man treads upon the faeces or other than it, from the filth م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ج م يل ب ن ال ح ع ن ا ل ح و ل ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ق ال ف ي الر ج ل ي ط أ ع ل ال م و ض ع ال ذ ي ل ي س ب ن ظ يف ث م ي ط أ ب ع د ه م ك انا ن ظ يفا ق ال ل ب أ س إ ذ ا ك ان خ م س ة ع ش ر ذ ر اعا أ و ن ح و ذ ل ك. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Jameel Bin Salih, from Al Ahowl, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said regarding the man who trod upon the place which was not with cleanliness, then he trod after it in a clean place, he asws said: There is no problem when it was fifteen cubits away or approximate to that (i.e. sufficient walking would purify it). 18 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ح م اد ع ن ح ر يز ع ن م ح م د ب ن م س ل م ق ال ك ن ت م ع أ ب ي ج ع ف ر ) عليه السالم ( إ ذ م ر ع ل ع ذ ر ة ي اب س ة ف و ط ئ ع ل ي ه ا ف أ اب ت ث و ب ه ف ق ل ت ج ع ل ت ف د اك ق د و ط ئ ت ع ل ع ذ ر ة ف أ اب ت ث و ب ك ف ق ال أ ل ي س ه ي ي اب س ة ف ق ل ت ب ل ف ق ال ل ب أ س إ ن ا ل ر ض ت ط ه ر ب ع ض ه ا ب ع ضا. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hareyz, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, I was with Abu Ja far asws when he asws passed upon a dry excrement, so he asws trod upon it, and it hit his asws cloth. So I said, May I be sacrificed for you asws! You have trod upon a filth and it hit your asws clothes. So he asws said: Was it not dry? So I said, Yes. So he asws said: There is no problem. Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazaan, from Safwan, from Is haq Bin Ammar, from Muhammad Al Halby who said, We lodged in a place and between us and the Masjid was a dirty alleyway. So I went over to Abu Abdullah asws, and he asws said: Where are you encamped? So I said, We are lodged in the house of so and so. So he asws said: Between you and the Masjid there is a dirty alleyway, or we said to him asws, Between us and the Masjid is a dirty alleyway. So he asws said: There is no problem. The earth (soil), parts of it purify the (other) parts. I said, And (what about) the wet manure I tread upon? Ali Bin Muhammad, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Ibn Muskan, from Al Halby, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws regarding the man who treads upon the excrement, or the urine, should he be repeating the Ablution (Wudhu)? Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hareyz, from Zurara, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: If something were to flow from your manhood, either from seminal fluid prostatic fluid, and you are in the Salaat, so do not wash it, and do not cut off your Salaat, nor would the Ablution (Wudhu) break for it, and even if it reaches your behind. So rather, that is with a status of the phlegm; and everything, which comes out from you after the Ablution (Wudhu), so it is from the sexual veins, or from the haemorrhoids, and it is not with anything. night of a Month of Ramazaan is recommended, and the washing of the night of the twenty-first, and the washing of the night of the twenty-third is a Sunnah, do not neglect these. For the Night of Pre-determination is hoped for in one of these; and washing for the day of (Eid) Al-Fitr and washing for the day of the Sacrifice (Al-Azha) is a Sunnah, I asws do not like it to be neglected, and washing for the Istikhara. It is the recommended deed regarding the washing of the three nights from a Month of Ramazaan the night of the nineteenth, and twenty-first, and the twenty-third. 28 باب م ا ي ج ز ئ ال غ س ل م ن ه إ ذ ا اج ت م ع Chapter 27 What the washing suffices from when (the matters) gather ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ح م اد ب ن ع يس ع ن ح ر يز ع ن ز ر ار ة ق ال إ ذ ا اغ ت س ل ت ب ع د ط ل وع ال ف ج ر أ ج ز أ ك غ س ل ك ذ ل ك ل ل ج ن اب ة و ال ج م ع ة و ع ر ف ة و الن ح ر و ال ح ل ق و الذ ب ح و الز ي ار ة و إ ذ ا اج ت م ع ت ع ل ي ك ح ق وق أ ج ز أ ه ا ع ن ك غ س ل و اح د Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad Bin Isa, from Hareyz, from Zurara, He asws : When you wash after the emergence of the dawn, that washing of yours would suffice for the sexual impurity, and the Friday, and Arafaat, and the shaving (of the head), and the sacrifice, and the Ziyarat; and whenever the rights gather upon you, one washing would suffice you from these. ق ال ث م ق ال و ك ذ ل ك ال م ر أ ة ي ج ز ئ ه ا غ س ل و اح د ل ج ن اب ت ه ا و إ ح ر ام ه ا و ج م ع ت ه ا و غ س ل ه ا م ن ح ي ض ه ا و ع يد ه ا. A numner of our companions, from Ibrahim Bin Is haq Al Ahmar, from Abdullah Bin Hammad Al Ansary, from Sabbah Al Muzanny, from Al Haris Bin Haseyra, from Al Asbagh who said, Whenever Amir Al-Momineen asws wanted to rebuke the man, he asws was saying: By Allah azwj! So he asws said to us on the day of Thursday: Wash for the day of tomorrow, the day of Friday, for the water would be scarce tomorrow. (It has been narrated) from one of the two (5 th or 6 th Imam asws ) who said, I asked him asws about washing for the sexual impurity, so he asws said: Begin with your two palms, then wash your private part. Then pour water upon your head three times, then pour the water upon the rest of your body, twice. Then he should pour upon his head three handfuls, then pour upon his right shoulder twice, and upon his left shoulder twice. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, form Ali Bin Al Hakam, from one of our companions who said, He asws said: You should be saying during the washing for Friday, O Allah azwj! Purify my heart from every scourge by which my Religion could get obliterated, and my deeds could get invalidated ; and you should be saying during the washing for the sexual impurity, O Allah azwj! A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, and Abu Dawood, altogether from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from a man, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws regarding a man who is hit by a sexual impurity, so he stands in the rain until it flows upon his body, Would that suffice him from the washing? Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Hammad, from Bakr Bin Karb who said, I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the man washing from the sexual impurity, Can he wash his legs before the washing? So he asws said: If he was washing in a place where the water flows upon his feet after the washing, so it would not be upon him that he washes them both; and if it was such that he is washing in a place where his feet are in stagnant water, so let him wash both of them. 47 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن أ ب ي ي ح ي ال و اس ط ي ع ن ه ش ام ب ن س ال م ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ) عليه السالم ( ق ال ق ل ت ل ه ج ع ل ت ف د اك أ غ ت س ل ف ي ال ك ن يف ال ذ ي ي ب ال ف يه و ع ل ي ن ع ل س ن د ي ة ف ق ال إ ن ك ان ال م اء ال ذ ي ي س يل م ن ج س د ك ي يب أ س ف ل ق د م ي ك ف ال ت غ س ل ق د م ي ك. (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Every washing, before it is an Ablution (Wudhu), except for the washing for the sexual impurity. و ر و ي أ ن ه ل ي س ش ي ء م ن ال غ س ل ف يه و ض وء إ ل غ س ل ي و م ال ج م ع ة ف إ ن ق ب ل ه و ض وءا. And it is reported: There is nothing from the washing wherein is an Ablution (Wudhu) except for the washing for the day of Friday, for before it is an Ablution (Wudhu). و ر و ي أ ي و ض وء أ ط ه ر م ن ال غ س ل. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Al Husayn Bin Abu Al A ala who said, I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the ring when I wash. He asws said: Turn it around from its place. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Fazalat, from Abdullah Bin Sinan, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: My asws father (says) wash from the sexual impurity (first), and it was said to him asws, If there remains a spot in the back which has not been hit by the water. So he asws said to him: That was not upon you (to point out), if only you had remained silent. Then he asws described four possibilities, then said: They should put more effort in the washing. 54 باب م ا ي وج ب ال غ س ل ع ل ى الر ج ل و ال م ر أ ة Chapter 30 What Obligates the washing upon the man and the woman م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ع ن م ح م د ب ن ال ح س ي ن ع ن ف و ان ب ن ي ح ي ع ن ال ع ال ء ب ن ر ز ين ع ن م ح م د ب ن م س ل م ع ن أ ح د ه م ا ) عليهما السالم ( ق ال س أ ل ت ه م ت ي ج ب ال غ س ل ع ل الر ج ل و ال م ر أ ة ف ق ال إ ذ ا أ د خ ل ه ف ق د و ج ب ال غ س ل و ال م ه ر و الر ج م. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Ismail who said, I asked Al-Reza asws about the man who copulates with a woman nearby the private part but they both do not discharge, When is the washing Obligated? So he asws said: When the two circumcised parts meet, so the washing is Obligated. So I said, The meeting of the two circumcised part, it is the tip of the manhood?
