GIRLS BASKETBALL TRY-OUTS Girls basketball try-outs begin Monday afternoon, October 31st from 4 to 6 in the Auxiliary Gym. You must have a clearance slip on file and you should have earned a minimum of a 2.0 GPA during the 1st nine weeks grading period. See Coach Kubala in the gym if you d like more information. SWIM TEAM TRYOUTS Tryouts for the 2016-2017 Swim Team will begin Monday afternoon, October 31st. Students interested in trying out need to make sure to have a clearance slip from the Athletics Office prior to attending to tryouts. Tryouts begin at 3 at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. For students who do not have a ride from CHS to the Aquatic Center there will be a bus that leaves from in front of the gym after school at 2:40. This is a drop-off only bus. You must make arrangements for your own transportation home. If you have any questions or you d like more information stop by the Activities Office to see Coach Salinas. Wrestling tryouts begin October 31st in the wrestling room at 3. You must have a current physical on file with the Athletics Office. If you have any questions or you d like more information contact Coach Copeland or Coach Holland. 1

Native American Students interested in participating in the 2017 Miss Indian and Brave C-H-S Contest can pick up an application from Mrs. Pahona in Room 1208 located in the 9 th grade office today and tomorrow. They welcome all grade levels and encourage all Native Americans to participate. Native American Students who d like to learn what it takes to be successful in business, entrepreneurship or related fields and who d like to participate in the Youth Entrepreneur Summit, can stop by and see Ms. Pahona in room 12-08 Mondays or Tuesdays for further information. BOY S BASKETBALL TRYOUTS Boys basketball tryouts begin Monday, October 31 st. You must have a physical on file with the Athletics Office in order to tryout. If you have any questions see Coach Jimenez in Room 1120. Tryout times and dates are posted on his door. And since tryouts are next week, today and Thursday are the last days for this season s open gym taking place from 2:45 to 4:15. 2

The Storm Football team beat the Piedra Vista Panthers last week 45 to 0 in district play. Storm football has a bye this week, but next week will play the Volcano Vista Hawks Friday evening at the NUSENDA Community Stadium at 7. The Storm is 8 and 1 on the season and 2 and 1 in District. CONGRATULATIONS BOYS SOCCER!! Last week Storm Boys Soccer finished their regular season with a 2 to 1 loss to Volcano Vista. Boys soccer finished 15 and 5 on the season with 4 and 4 in District Play and as District Runner-ups. Scheduled for the state tournament the first round game... #5 Cleveland will host #12 Centennial this Saturday morning at 10. WAY TO GO STORM GIRLS SOCCER Girls soccer finished their regular season last Saturday and also lost to Volcano Vista 2 to 1. The ladies finished 14 3 and 2 on the season with 4 3 and 1 in District Play and as District Runner-ups. The Storm received the #3 seed into the state tournament and will have a bye this weekend. The Storm will get ready for a quarterfinal game against the winner of the Rio Rancho and Las Cruces game. The quarterfinal game will take place at noon next Thursday at the Bernalillo Complex. 3

The Storm Volleyball team is currently 12 and 7 on the season and 6 and 1 in district play. This week the Storm will close out their regular season by hosting Volcano Vista Friday at 6:30. CROSS COUNTRY NEWS Boys and Girls Cross Country were back in action last Friday as they traveled to Los Alamos for the Los Alamos Invite. The Girls placed 1st place and the Boys placed 2nd. This Friday C-H- S will host the District 1 6-A Championships beginning at 4. So stick around after school and support your Storm runners. GOLF Both boys and girls Storm Golf closed out their fall season last week at the Grants Invitational. Both the girls and the boys won their portion of the tournament. 4
