The current equipment is on a lease that expires in July 2018. The proposal which was approved is to take possession of the new equipment in September/October 2017 with payments starting in May 2018. We had to move sooner with the lease due to necessary repairs that were estimated at $16,000. Depending on the warranty we anticipate there will be no increase in lease cost. We anticipate that the new equipment will reduce repair cost, man hours and allow us to keep up with the mowing and golf course needs. On August 17th our membership voted to place the capital improvement assessment over a 6 month period, starting in September. If possible, I encourage those that can and want to make your $300.00 payment in September 2017. Please let Lisa know if you are making a 1 time payment or 6 payments. We hope to have the cart paths replaced by mid October 2017. The pool will close on Tuesday, September 5 th. Because of your support we were able to make some much needed repairs and bring in new furniture. I want to thank everyone for your support. September resumes our outside tournament schedule. These are tournaments the club has hosted for several years and is a good source of income. Please check the club s calendar. Steve Haas has been chosen to chair the nomination for the 3 new BOD members whose terms will start in January 2018. These are 3 year terms. If you are interested in serving please contact Steve. The terms of Stuart Harris, Rick Torres and Steve Hillis expires December 31st. Our general membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 19th. The meeting will start at 6 P.M. and all members are encouraged to attend. The new Board members will be announced at that time. Members will also be updated on how the Club is doing and the meeting is open for discussion. I want to thank all of you for the support you give our club. Page 3 Maumelle Country 122 3Club September 2017 T U R F TALK It s been a busy summer and a mild August so to speak, and especially a wet one. The team has done an outstanding job this summer and is excited for upcoming events such as the Metro Fest and Club. It is our goal to provide the upmost tournament conditions as we prepare for the last two of our MCC four majors. In case you haven t noticed, but the turfgrass crew are looking really sharp. Thanks to the support and huge donations from Mac Etheridge of Silver Eagle GPX. Mac and his team designed and donated the bright green golf work shirts for the crew. It is a professional statement, the crew feels good, and we cant thank Mac and his staff enough, thank you for making us all look good. As we prepare for fall and its outings, there will be less disruptions to the putting surface. We were really aggressive after the Maumelle Classic with cultural practices and now it is our goal to provide the ultimate putting surface while getting the ready for fall and winter. We intend to be on a fairly aggressive spray program, being fall and spring are the worst time for the ultra dwarf bermudas. We feel really pleased with the texture and want the plant to have all its proper nutrients, proteins, and carbohydrates going into the cooler season. Expect light verti-cut and light topdressing, especially if September is warm. A Huge thank you to the Greens Committee, MGA, and Board of Directors for approving our department a new equipment lease program. If you have not already heard, we are leasing two new fairway mowers, that will also be utilized to cut approaches and tees. Two new rough mowers nearly 10 wide and can mow 11 acres an hour each were also approved, along with a new greens speed roller. The roller maybe the most important, it will help us achieve and maintain green speeds on a day to day basis and especially for those weekend tournaments. Thank you all for your support. We had over 35 for lunch after play. A small shower early couldn t dampen our spirits. Our big event of the month was the fund raiser for the back nine bathroom, the Two Men/Two Women Scramble. We hope to make this an annual event. Debbie Pipkin led the Green Egg Raffle and did a good job of promoting it. Metro Appliances and More Donated the Green Egg and Accessories. Stephanie Hopkins handled our design on the invitation and assisted in the photo shoot which was done by Sandra Watterson. Sandra also again did a great job in her decorating. Kathe Parson used her email list to send out the invitations and soliciting of players. Betty Finley recruited our Registration Volunteers and Susie Reynolds greeted our guests for our Happy Hour with drinks provided by Allen Talbot and Diamond Bear Brewing Co. David Parks our MGA President secured our extra awards and prizes. Also, thanks to McLarty Ford for their donation of these items. Our Pro Shop Staff and Club House crew did a wonderful job.
