This competition is open to eligible skaters who are members in good standing of Skate Canada and whose home clubs are located in one of the following regions. Outaouais, Abitibi-témiscamingue, Eastern Ontario, Laurentian, Sud-Ouest (SO) This competition is sanctioned by Skate Canada and will be held under the rules of this Association. RESPONSIBILITIES Skate Canada, Québec Figure Skating Federation, the regional association and Asticou Figure Skating Club take no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by the skaters. As a condition of, and in consideration of their entries therein, all competitors and their parents, or guardians, shall be deemed to agree to assume all risks of injury to the competitors person and property resulting from, caused by or connected with the conduct and management of the competition. The participants will release any and all claims, which they may have against the officials, Skate Canada, the Quebec Section, Asticou Figure Skating Club, the volunteers and their officers and their entries shall be accepted on these conditions. CONDUCT OF COMPETITORS 1) Competitors are bound to obey implicitly the instructions of the officials in charge of the competition. 2) A competitor who, directly or indirectly, expresses himself in an improper manner regarding the officials or their decisions or regarding the marking of the judges may be suspended and/or excluded from further competition. RESTRICTIONS The committee reserves the right to limit the number of participants in each category. The decision of the committee is final. REGISTRATION AND DEADLINE Each skater must sign and return the completed registration form indicating the category(ies) in which he/she wishes to participate. Teams must complete the appropriate form. The registration including the completed application and payment in full must be postmarked no later than October 12 th, 2015. Entries filed after the closing date specified in the announcement may be accepted only at the discretion of the committee in charge. AGE AND TESTS QUALIFICATIONS For Competitive Categories and No-Limits the age requirement specified is as at July 1 st, preceding the competition. There is no age limit for official STARSKATE categories. The date for tests passed is October 12 th, 2015. FEES: $55 Star 1-2-3 $65 Star 4 and above, Competitive, Solo Dance, Interpretive $45 Each additional event $55 per team for team Elements PAYABLE TO: CPA Asticou. Registration fees will be refunded if the registration is withdrawn prior to the deadline. A cheque postdated after October 12th, 2015 will NOT be accepted. For categories STAR 1-3, the results of the skaters are calculated separately because skaters do not compete against each other for ranking. The awards are based on the standards of performance achieved (Merit, Bronze, Silver or Gold ). MUSIC Each skater must provide two (2) CDs at registration. REGISTRATION All skaters must register upon their arrival at the arena a minimum of one hour before the beginning of their scheduled event. At that time they will hand in to the person-in-charge: two (2) CDs, clearly identified with their name, category, priority (1 or 2) and the length of their program. The Committee will be responsible for the music until the end of the competition. NCCP certified coaches, who are members of Skate Canada, must register; presenting their photo ID cards (no exceptions). Please note: meals tickets and a rest area will be provided for certified coaches with identified skaters in the competition. ADMISSION Adult : 6.00 $ Pass : 12.00 $ Free : 12 years and under AWARDS Medals shall be presented to the top three places in each event in accordance with the rules. In the case of only two entries, each entry will be awarded a medals. Awards - STAR For categories STAR 1-3, they will receive a ribbon on a standard of performance reached. For category 4 STAR medals will be awarded to three (3) first on the standard of performance reached. COMPETITION SCHEDULE A tentative schedule will be sent to each register skaters and coaches, if email address is provided. FORMATION OF GROUPS : For the categories of Annex 1 - competitive skating, SR Bronze - Gold, groups will be formed by a draw, according to Skate Canada rules. COMPETITIVE CATEGORIES For all categories, skaters must be eligible under the Skate Canada rules of section 5000. Skaters may not register in a competitive category and a STAR skate category in the same competition in the same discipline (e.g. free skating). Skaters have the right to enroll in a higher category. Skaters have the right to enroll in two categories in the same discipline (e.g. Pre-Novice and Novice singles). CATEGORY TIME REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS Junior Short Not exceeding 2 minutes and 50 seconds Junior Free Ladies Free Program 3.0 minutes 30 seconds to music. (+/- 10 seconds) Men 4 minutes (+/- 10 seconds) Novice Short Not exceeding 2 minutes and 30 seconds Novice Free Pre-Novice Ladies and Men Ladies Free Program 3.0 minutes to music. (+/- 10 seconds) Men 3 minutes 30 seconds (+/- 10 seconds) Short Program 2 minutes and 30 Free Program 3.0 minutes to music (+/- 10 seconds) As described in Skate Canada Rules. Age Eligibility: Under the age of 19 as of July 1 preceding the competition Test Eligibility: Must have passed the Gold Freeskate Test. As described in Skate Canada Rules. STAR SOLO PATTERN DANCE Program Length and Specifications: As listed in the Skate Canada technical package: Events will consist of two pattern dances that are drawn and announced by Skate Canada annually. STARSKATE OFFICIAL CATEGORIES For all categories, skaters must be eligible under the Skate Canada rules of section 5000. Skaters may not register in a competitive category and a STAR skate category in the same competition in the same discipline (e.g. free skating). Skaters have the right to enroll in a higher category. Skaters have the right to enroll in two categories in the same discipline (e.g. Senior Bronze and Junior Silver). Skaters may not register in a competitive category and a STARSKATE category in the same competition in the same discipline (eg. free skating). Skaters may register in a category higher in accordance with Skate Canada rules. These events are not open to skaters who participated in the Sectional Championship in the preceding year (except pre-juvenile and juvenile skaters who are no longer eligible for these categories), who registered or participated in the Sectional Championship in the current year (July 1 st to June 30 th ), who participated in the Quebec Winter and/or Participation Games Provincial Finals in the preceding year. No age restrictions. Equivalency - Juvenile Junior Silver; Pre-Novice Senior Silver; Novice, Junior, Senior Gold TECHNICAL INFORMATION FOR EVENTS STAR SINGLES EVENTS TEST ELIGIBILITY: As of July 1, 2015 Age admissibility: under 18 yrs as of 1 July, 2015 TECHNICAL: For STAR 1 to 5 Program Length and Specifications As listed in the 2015 2016 Skate Canada STAR 1 to 5 Technical Package. STAR 1 Competitors must not have passed any part of the Senior Bronze Free Skate test (the competition is for skaters who do not have more than three single jumps). The elements are evaluated according to standards (merit, bronze, silver or gold). It is possible to group competitors by age. OCT 10, 2015 PAGE 9

STAR 2 Competitors must not have passed any part of the Senior Bronze Free Skate test. (Designed for skaters who do not have more than five different single jumps) The individual elements, skating skills, performance / execution (focus on holding the line and shape) and the components are assessed according to standards (merit, bronze, silver and gold). It is possible to group competitors by age. Ladies A program with a duration of 2 minute (+ / 10 seconds) ; vocal music is not permitted Men A program with a duration of 2 minute (+ / 10 seconds) ; vocal music is not permitted STAR 3 Competitors must not have passed any part of the Senior Bronze Free Skate test. (Designed for skaters who have not yet mastered double jumps and train for the Junior Bronze Free Skate test.) Vocal music is not permitted. The individual elements, skating skills, performance / execution and interpretation are evaluated according to standards (merit, bronze, silver and gold). It is possible to group competitors by age. Ladies A program for 2 minutes ( +/ 10 seconds) Men A program of 2 minutes ( +/ 10 seconds) STAR 4 Competitors must not have passed any part of the Senior Bronze Free Skate test. (Designed for skaters who have not yet mastered double jumps and train for the Junior Bronze Free Skate test ) Vocal music is not permitted. (Designed for skaters who have passed the Preliminary Free Skate test and train with double jumps, but are not yet ready to move to Pre Juvenile or pass the Senior Bronze test.) Vocal music is not permitted. The 5 STAR competitions are scored according to the CPC and skaters are graded. Four components are noted: skating skills, transitions, performance / execution and interpretation. Spins shall not be designated at a higher level than B. Ladies Who have not reached 10 years as of July 1 preceding the competition. Men Who have not reached 10 years as of July 1 preceding the competition. Ladies Who have not reached 13 years as of July 1 preceding the competition. Men Who have not reached 13 years as of July 1 preceding the competition. TEAMS MEN AND LADIES For all categories, skaters must be eligible under the Skate Canada rules in section 5000. Skaters have the right to enroll in a higher category than their qualifications. A team must consist of at least 3 skaters at most 4. Each skater will be allowed to make a maximum of two elements. Any substitution of skaters must be approved by the technical representative of the competition. (50% of the skaters must have passed the required tests for the event). Teams can be formed by skaters from different clubs. The elements will be skated in the order announced. Each element will be executed once.
