Forest Allambie MSWA Issue 256, November 2018 Weekly Newsletter Fairies Falcons GAME 10 RECAP Our latest newsletter includes reports from seven of our amazing softball teams: the Foxes, Fallin Angels, Falcons, Fireflies, Freckles, Firecrackers and the Fairies. We hope you enjoy the read! INSIDE THIS EDITION: Results from Round 10, 24 November 2018 Round 11 games, 1 December 2018 Match reports and photos Our sponsors

Round 11 Games, 1 December 2018 Firebirds and Firecrackers have BYE's this weekend. Fever and Slayers are umpiring. Two games left to play in 2018 before the long summer break. Good luck to all!

Falcons - C reserve Falcons vs Diamondfish, won 24-6 Here is the first report of the season from our fabulous C-reserve team Falcons... The Falcons had an impressive 24-6 win over the Diamondfish. Everyone batted and fielded extremely well. Offensive and Defensive game highlights were: Emma Collins first ever GRAND SLAM in the 2nd inning!!!! Emma Haynes racked up several stolen bases staying at first base was never an option!! Superb fielding by Jen, Elizabeth and Janet: Jen caught a tricky infield fly in pitcher s position in the 2nd inning. Elizabeth catching a foul ball along 3rd base line for a second out in the 3rd inning but her twinkle toes couldn t stop her from crossing the dead ball line and a the single runner advanced to 2nd base (but did not score that inning). Janet made a spectacular catch in left field in the 4th inning for a hit that surely had a home-run destiny! Overall lots of fun and many more laughs were had!! Vanessa Garcia Falcon s Coach FRONT PAGE TEAM

Foxes - Division 3 Foxes vs Pirates, lost 7-13 The Foxes played well on Saturday, despite missing 4 players and windy weather. The game didn t start off too well for the Foxes, with a very fast pitcher who struck out our first batter Cookie. We did have a bit of good luck with Marie s good eye for balls which got her a walk to first base. The pitcher got in some good pitches afterwards, striking out Milli. Marie then stole home when one of the Pirates missed a throw giving her enough time to get to home plate, but our batting ended with more good pitching from the Pirates. Things got better while fielding with a great double play when Millie caught a pop fly and then threw the ball to Cookie at first base, who was able to tag out the runner, ending the innings. The second innings started of well with Maddie getting a walk to first and then stealing to second and third, then home. The Pirates good pitching struck out Jazzy, but a few inaccurate pitches that Rosie a walk to first then stole to second. More fast pitching ended the innings with Niahm and Cookie striking out. The Pirates did some good batting with the first batter getting a solid hit that got her to first. Then a smashing hit to left field by one Pirate that got multiple runs home. NEXT PAGE...

Foxes continued... The third innings started with Marie getting a walk to first then stealing to home after a few high pitches from a new pitcher. With loaded bases, more walks got Maddie and Jazzy to first and a few runs home. Some steller hitting by the Pirates into the outfield, with a few home runs. Some nice fielding teamwork by the Foxes, but the Pirates really knew how to bat. The Foxes did best in the fourth innings, with quite a few home, but unfortunately they ran out of time for the Pirates to bat. A big shout-out goes to pitcher Charleigh, who got 4 x K2s against the Pirates during the game! It was a good game, with some nice teamwork by the Foxes, but the Pirates just had the upper edge and won the game 13-7. By Captain Cookie Manager's comment: A big shout out to Milli, Madi and Cookie who did their first umpiring duty this round. Great work girls. You re Awesome!

Freckles Modball B Freckles vs Dolphins, lost 15-50 Written by Olivia Cameron, Freckles captain, Round 9 Congratulations on another great game Freckles. Although we lost, everyone should be very proud of themselves. Keep up the good work Freckles! Lauren - congratulations on Player of the Week! Your catch was amazing! It must have been scary seeing a ball come towards you at such speed. Jet - great job on third base. It was outstanding! Sophie - great job centre field! Alysia - you were an amazing catcher. Keep it up! Charlotte - great running to the bases. Aurelia - very good pitching. You did very well for your first go! Darcie - you were outstanding at second base and played a role in getting an out. Awesome work Darcie! Abbie - great moving in shortstop and second base. Way to go Abbie! Mariana and Shona - we missed you this week and hope to see you next week. And me! - as a member of the Freckles, I feel extremely lucky to have such nice team mates. Thank you Freckles! NEXT PAGE...

Freckles continued... Coach's comment: One of the great things about the Freckles team is just how positive you all are and supportive of each other. Your report is point in case Olivia, thank you! We had a tough game on Saturday against the Dolphins who batted and fielded very well. With only 1 run scored in our first innings I was very proud at how you all dug deep in the second innings which was a big improvement. Congratulations to Aurelia for her first time at pitching - you pitched very well. I will miss you all for the next two weeks - play well and have a stack of fun girls! ~ Janine

Fairies - Teeball Fairies vs Cupcakes, won 47-37 What a great performance by the Fairies this week. It must have been the change in coaching staff!! We fielded first and Matilda was quick to make an out at 2nd and Caitlyn showed quick thinking to tag a runner on the way to first base. Our first Bat saw Sophie and Emily N both score 2 runs each with hits into the outfield. Our second fielding innings saw some great combinations by Emily H with Sophie and Matilda to CC twice! In our second batting effort we went berserk!! Sophie (x2), Eloise, Emily H (x2), Zoe (x2) and Chelsea all hit into the outfield. Zoe and Sophie made great outs in the 3rd innings and Emily H and Eloise cleaned up in our last batting innings to see us record a strong win. Peter Davis Manager

Fallin' Angels B Grade Fallin' Angels vs Deers, won 16-4 Fallin Angels had a brilliant 16-4 win against the Deers much to the credit of Jo Masters pitching in fine form for the first four innings holding the Deers at 4 earned runs and player of the match, Caroline Jagger. Caroline had nearly 3 home runs with runners on base. The coach held her up on the third home run at third base as Angels already had 5 across... much to the objection of all Forest players in the game and warming up in the sidelines. Caroline backed up her 6 RBIs, by pitching in the 5th inning and getting 2 K2s with no runs scored that evening, with Courtney Liddle rocketing a throw 2nd base to crush Deers attempt to steal for the third out. Vanessa Garcia Fallin Angels Coach / Player

Fireflies - Tee ball Fireflies vs Mermaids, lost 35-45 The Fireflies kitted up with a smaller six girl squad this week to face the Mermaids. The Fireflies batted first, and found form towards the end of the first innings. Ashlea had a big hit at last bat that allowed Mikayli to sprint home from second base. The good batting rhythm continued through the game with Charlotte and Evee leading off in the second and third innings respectively. The girls are really hitting the ball and running the bases with regular consistency these days under the stewardship of KC, Lucy, and Vanessa. The Mermaids had some very big hitters. In the second innings, both Georgia and Ilaria did a great job in the outfield making stops and chasing down balls. The girls coordinated well to get the ball to the base fielders and catcher. Ashlea was named player of the week; she had a great all round game and also memorable hits through the opposition outfield and out of the diamond on a couple occasions. Captain: Mikayli

Firecrackers Modball B Firecrackers vs Cocos, won 35-31 Round 10 - Saturday 24 November Wow!!!! How awesome were our Firecrackers today. After a small lead at the end of the 1st innings, the Cocos fought back to be in front at the end of the 2nd innings. Then it was 29-29 with only the Cococs left to bat, not in a million years did I think we would pull off a win. But with great fielding, a double play and a triple play we managed to pull off the win of the season! I am absolutely blown away with every player contributing to getting players out, our fielding is absolutely superb at the moment. We need a bit of work with our batting but even superstars have room for improvement. Ruby was the captain, Molly pitched, batting award went to Ella C and fielding award to Sahraa. Jo Stracey, Coach Firecrackers vs Dolphins, lost 32-43 Round 9 - Saturday 17 November Top of the table clash and last year s grand final rematch. At the end of the 1st innings we had a slight lead, however the other team had a great 2nd innings to build a strong lead that we couldn t real in. The final score was not a reflection of what great competitive close game it was. Sahraa was the captain, Ruby pitched, batting award went to Ella H and fielding award to Molly. Cameron Hay, Manager
