It is the grand opening of our Butterfly House, so come and walk among over a 100 of these beautiful fliers and our brand new fairy garden.. Along with live bands and animal shows, there will be crafts, games, face painting, craft vendors, a plant sale and a Long Island Children s Author circle. Many not for profit animal rescue groups will be there with animals ready for adoption. Food and refreshments available. Enjoy an afternoon sampling local craft beer on the beautiful grounds of Sweetbriar Nature Center. The event also includes live music and a bird of prey show. Food will be available for purchase. Rentals available at the Kayak shop on Montauk Highway. Sat. June 13 Indian Island Beach- Launch time - 10:00 AM. Sat. June 20- Smithtown - Nissaquogue River - Meet at Givens Park (East of Bull on 25A) at 11:00 AM. Rentals available. Sat. June 27- Great River- Connetquot River - Launch time - 10:00 AM. Left side of road before the Timber Point Country Club. Sat. July 11- Shirley - Carman's River - Launch time - 10:00AM. Rentals available at the Kayak shop on Montauk Highway. Sat. Aug 23- Setauket Harbor - Launch time 10:00 AM. Off 25A - Shore Rd. - 1/4 mile - Launch at beach - park on Municipal pier. Sat. Sept 13 Smithtown - Stony Brook Harbor - Launch time - 10:00 AM. Launch from the marina on the right - this is at the end of Nissequogue River Rd when you get to the Smithtown Beach access area. Kayaking will be canceled when: winds are over 15 MPH, OR it's raining, OR when thundershowers are predicted for that day in the area where we will be kayaking.
