Dozer Park (opened 2002) Peoria, IL Game #123 of 137 RHP Ryne Inman (1-3, 8.37) vs. LHP Evan Kruczynski (2-3, 4.25) Today s Preview: The Clinton LumberKings (A, Mariners) meet the Peoria Chiefs (A, Chiefs) for the fourth and final time during the 2017 season. The LumberKings lead the all-time series 237-211, dating back to 1983, and lead against Peoria 76-71, since the LumberKings became a Seattle Mariners affiliate in 2009. The LumberKings dropped the two of three games when the team s first met June 2-4. Clinton took three of four in the last meeting in Peoria. The Chiefs then took three of four from Peoria August 5-8 in Ashford University Field. LumberKings Starter: Ryne Inman, 21, makes his sixth appearance and fifth start of the season for the Clinton LumberKings. The Maryland native took the loss in his last time outing. Inman allowed 10 hits, matching the most he has allowed in any one outing as a professional, the hits led to five runs over a five-inning outing against the Kane County Cougars. Despite it being his fifth outing as a LumberKing, it was Inman s home debut. His LumberKings debut came following the 19 -inning game with the South Bend Cubs, the appearance was his first of the 2017 season. Inman then made seven appearances with the Everett Aquasox including six starts. Inman was drafted by the Mariners in the 15th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Parkview High School where he led his school to back-toback state semifinals appearances. Chiefs Starter: Evan Kruczynski, 22, makes his 11 appearance and start of the season for the Peoria Chiefs. The East Carolina product was given a no decision for his last time out. In a 5.2 inning outing on the road against the Quad Cities River Bandits he allowed two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out six. Kruczynski was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 9th round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of East Carolina University. A Wisconsin native he overcame a broken in his leg his senior year in his third start of the season. Kruczynski still managed to make 10 appearances and go 4-3 with a 4.47 ERA for the Pirates. Prior to the injury, the Wisconsin native had established himself as a staff ace going a 20-8 with an 2.01 ERA during the 2016 season. His professional debut came with the Chiefs on June 27 against the Beloit Snappers. He threw four shutout innings in his debut and walked none while striking out two. Last Time Out: The Clinton Lumberkings pulled off another come from behind win on Saturday night toping the Peoria Chiefs 7-6 at Dozer Park. Clinton (24-31, 55-67) overcame a grand slam from Stefan Trosclair to win their third game of their last four. The LumberKings scored the first runs of the game in the top of the first inning. Three consecutive hits off Chiefs (29-26, 59-65) starter Ian Oaxnevad pushed the first run of the game across. Jhombeyker Morales then scored Yojhan Quevedo with a sacrifice fly to right. Nick Wells started for Clinton and silenced the Chiefs for the first two innings before allowing Troscalir's slam in the bottom of the third. Trosclair drove home four with one swing of the bat, hitting a ball all the way up the berm in left for the Chiefs first lead of the night. The grand slam was the first allowed by LumberKings pitching this season. In the top of the fifth inning, the LumberKings batted around to score three runs and pull to within one. Quevedo, Nick Thurman, and Dimas Ojeda each drove in a run during the LumberKings rally. Nick Zammarelli then tied the game in the top of the sixth. With two men out, and Johnny Slater running on the pitch, Zammarelli lined an RBI double to right center that tied the game at six. August Rush: Tim Viehoff continued his strong work out of the LumberKings bullpen with 1.1 shutout innings on Firday night. Viehoff, despite owning a loss in the month of August, has now not allowed an earned run in 12.1 innings of work this month. He now owns a streak of 17.1 innings without allowing an earned run. Come back kids: The Clinton LumberKings have been winners in three of their last four games. The wins have all been come from behind wins. Clinton trailed 6-2 at one point before storming back with five unanswered runs to win 7-6. 1,000 strikeouts: The Clinton LumberKings reached a significant milestone during Saturday night s win over the Peoria Chiefs. On the final play of the game Seth Elledge struck out Mick Fennell for the team s 1,000th strikeout of the season. Slam history: For the first time since September 5 of 2016 LumberKings pitching allowed a grand slam. The home run in 2016 was allowed by a LumberKings reliever Kyle Wilcox. Stefan Trosclair s grand slam game off Nick Wells in the bottom of the third inning for the game s first runs. One run affairs: In the season match ups with the Peoria Chiefs thus far this year, the LumberKings have played close games with Peoria. The first two games of the series have been decided by one run. Clinton is 3-1 against Peoria in one-run games this year. Overall this season Clinton is 23-17 in one run games. This date in baseball history: On this date in 1946, using the U.S. Army's Sky Screen Chronograph, Bob Feller's fastball is clocked at 98.6 miles-per-hour, prior to the start of the game against the Senators at Griffith Stadium.
