Hello fellow Goldwingers! Hope you are all doing well. We had an excellent time at the River Run this year. I will defer to Marti s article on the details, but just wanted you all to know that I was humbled by all of you that pitched in to make this such an amazing event. I would like to specifically thank Martie, in particular, for all of the detail work that she put in to making this event successful. We ll be doing a post event review to see how we can make things better for next year. I will also be reaching out to the attendees with a brief survey to see what they liked and didn t like. See you all at the meeting on Saturday, August 18 th. Till then, George & Cath Anderson ID-H CD
Greetings Chapter H! Well we have another great River Run behind us! If you missed it, you missed A LOT! Thankyou to all of our fabulous guests and members for coming, participating and supporting Idaho Coeur d Alene Chapter H! We had a great turnout; around 48 attendees in all! We had beautiful weather for floating, fishing, fun and games! There was a ride to Thompson Falls up over the pass for those still dedicated to getting a little wheel time in during their play time. Also, for those land-lubbers not wishing to get wet we had some quality visiting and chatting time. A few of us even got to do a little fly-fishing. George tried to convince everyone he caught a nice little cutthroat trout, but we all think he just pulled a sardine out of a can! It was about that size! We had sloppy joes & Bert Lambert s potato salad for dinner Friday night, a full pancake, egg & sausage breakfast with George, Rick Poppe and Alex Piper at the grill and griddle helm. Thanks so much guys for the great cooking! Then there was the classic BBQ dinner Saturday night with chicken and ribs, cornbread (thank you Rick Poppe you never disappoint!) and honey-butter, Sharon Weber s famous potato salad and then extra coleslaw from Alex Piper and salad provided by Janelle New! We finished off with our Gold Wing tradition of ice cream for dessert! Saturday night s entertainment included the fiddle of Janet Shelby, Riley Anderson and Suzanne Kasko playing and singing, and Tim Mitchell regaling us with his story -telling. There was some real foot-stomping going on. Chuck New was moved to dance and George & Cath joined in.
A special thanks to all the people who chipped in helping with serving, brown bags, clean-up floater transportation, registration and more. We couldn t have done it without you. In particular, special thanks to Annie and Alex Piper who deserved a well-earned rest since they ran things the last several years, but still pitched in and also lent their expertise to keep things running smoothly. Also thanks to Raejean & Jerry Widmer, who stayed at the registration table for endless hours and Jerry for running home so many times for little overlooked extras (like trash cans who'd a thunk??) Thank you Bert Lambert in particular for being our unofficial event photographer. You were everywhere and in between helping you seemed to always be in place for the perfect snapshot! Then of course what can a Goldwing event be without 50/50 winners, brown-bags, door prizes and our grand prize drawings? We had awesome prizes including several $100 gift certificates, rounds of golf, dinner tickets, leather riding gear, stained glass, motorcycle maintenance items and so much more! Finally, we want to thank our sponsors, who generously donated items to make our event a success! Please support them when considering buying items that they supply.
