In the national rankings, moved from sixth to fifth after beating LSU. The Tigers are averaging a 196.225. maintained a No. 3 ranking on floor (49.175) and a No. 8 ranking on bars (48.995), but moved up two spots on beam to fourth (49.020). Head coach Suzanne Yoculan is in her final season at the helm of the traditionrich Georgia program. Sandusky Named SEC Freshman of the Week gymnast Allyson Sandusky has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman Gymnast of the Week the league office announced on Feb. 3. Sandusky is the first Tiger gymnast to receive conference honors this season. Sandusky provided solid and career-high scores on vault and bars as topped No. 10 LSU 196.575-195.300 on Jan. 30. It was s the first win over LSU on its home mat since 2003. s 196.575 is the highest final score achieved this season and the Tigers posted season-high marks on vault, bars and floor. Seven gymnasts matched or set career highs. The Tigers were again consistent, hitting 23-of-24 routines. Puckett won vault, tied for first on beam and claimed her third all-around title of her senior campaign by tying her career-high score of 39.550. Her 39.550 also ranks second on s all-time all-around scores. Freshman Allyson Sandusky, vaulting third, set a career-high 9.875 and senior A.J. Mills mirrored Sandusky s score in the No. 5 spot. Puckett anchored the rotation by matching a personal-best 9.95. The Tigers teamed together to post a 49.200 on vault, a score that ranks among the best in program history. A trio of gymnasts achieved personal-best scores to lead to its best showing on bars this season. Krissy Voss set the tone in the lead-off position, receiving a career-high 9.8. Sandusky and rookie counterpart Kendall Swartz each earned career marks with a 9.825 and 9.85, respectively. The only time that faltered was midway through the beam rotation, but the Tigers rallied behind solid performances from Kylie Shields, Mills and Puckett. Carmen Nelms lead-off score of 9.8 set the stage for senior Claire Seiffert s career-best 9.85 performance. Mills flipped to a 9.85 and Rachel Inniss and Puckett each earned 9.9s. Puckett and Mills combined for the Tiger sweep on all four events and the duo finished one-two in the all-around on career-high marks. Puckett was the vault, balance beam, floor exercise and all-around champion on a career night. She won the all-around, but made her mark by earning a 9.975 on beam for the second-highest score on the event in history. She was awarded a 9.95 and a perfect 10.0 to combine for the 9.975. It was the first time in Puckett s career that she had earned a 10.0. Mills had a career night of her own, scoring a personal best 9.9 on uneven bars to claim the individual title. She finished as the all-around runner-up with a career-best performance of 39.500, a mark that ranks among s top-10 all-around scores. No. 4 Suffers Narrow Loss to No. 1 Florida Fourth-ranked was narrowly defeated by top-ranked Florida 196.500-196.250, on Jan. 9, in the Stephen C. O Connell Center. No. 15 Tigers Roll Over Illinois-Chicago to Open Season The No. 15 gymnastics team opened the season by defeating Illinois- Chicago 196.375-193.850 on Jan. 4, in the UIC Physical Education Building. The Tigers captured all four event titles and four freshmen made their collegiate debut. The team score also marked the highest season-opening score in the program s history. Seniors Lindsey Puckett and A.J. Mills placed first and second on two events. On vault, Puckett brought home the title and Mills was second. On balance beam it was Mills finishing first and Puckett second. Sophomore Rachel Inniss was the floor exercise champ, followed by teammates Puckett and Mills. Mills was the uneven bars titlist and Puckett placed third. In all-around competition, Puckett was first with a 39.475 and Mills followed with a 39.450 for runner-up honors.
