WELCOME Ladies to the May Newsletter. We had some good rain during the month, and the rain fortunately did not interfere with our golf games. May saw the Ladies Midweek Senior Championship held over two weeks and the winner for the second year in a row was Jean White with a net score of 154 and runners up were Roslyn Russell on a countback from Christine Dubois and Betty Kaluschke who had net scores of 155. Well done ladies. HOLE IN ONE Jean White Ladies 2017 Senior Champion Saturday 20 th May, saw Margaret Anderson hit the perfect shot for a Hole In One on the 18 th Hole on the South Course which also resulted in an Eagle. Well done Margaret, the long wait is over.

LADIES PENNANT Pennant Update: Division 1 commenced their season on Friday 28 th April and have now played 5 matches with sadly no wins and have 1 match remaining on 9/6 to hopefully record a win before the end of the pennant season. There have been some very close games finishing on the 18 th hole but unfortunately the luck has not gone Nudgee s way. Division 3 also commenced their season on Friday 28 th April and have now played 6 matches with 3 Wins and 3 losses and have 1 remaining match on Friday 9/6 to hopefully come home strongly with another win by shaking up their opponents. Our Weekend 3 team who commenced their season on Sunday 30 th April played their last match last Sunday against Keperra at Wantima. They have played extremely well having won 4 out of 4 matches going into the last round with a strong chance of winning a flag. Unfortunately this was not in the plans of the golfing gods as they were beaten and have finished a very commendable 2 nd. Well done team and we will still celebrate your fabulous efforts at our Pennant Dinner to be held later in the year. NEW LADY MEMBERS On behalf of the Ladies Committee and lady members, we wish to extend a very warm welcome to a new lady, Anna Leean who has joined our friendly club and hope that Anna enjoys playing in the many varied competitions available.

CHARITY DAY On Saturday, 27 th May, our Youngcare Charity Day was held and the conditions were perfect. Many ladies took the advantage and purchasing the Mulligans which we are sure enhanced their scores. CHARITY DAY 4 BBB Stableford (Mulligans Event) 28/5/17 Winners: Div 1: Hammy Forrest & Liz Grant (49pts) Div 2: Rosina Spring & Donna Turner (45pts) The Committee would like to thank everyone who supported our first fundraising event by purchasing Mulligans and Raffle Tickets which the money raised will all be going to a good cause by supporting young Australians with special needs. Our final Charity Day will be held on Tuesday 15th August and we hope everyone supports the day and invites their friends to come and play as there will also be a guest speaker from Youngcare and the drawing of the Monster Raffle with many wonderful prizes to be won.

WEEKLY RAFFLE The raffle is being drawn weekly and there have been many lucky winners. Tickets are still available for $25.00 should you wish to participate. If you would like to purchase a number or buy a second ticket, please contact Tina Brown, as another ticket may enhance your chance of winning. VETERANS DAY This event was played in perfect conditions on Tuesday 30 th May and proved once again to be a very close result with Adrienne Naismith winning the 2017 Veterans Trophy by only 1 shot. Congratulations to all of the winners and Runner Ups. Senior Veteran Winner: Adrienne Naismith 95/74 Nett 65+ Senior Veteran Runner Up: Paula Thomson 104/75 Nett Junior Veteran Winner: Margaret Anderson 84/70 Nett 64 & Under Junior Veteran Runner Up: Helen Cox 104/74 Nett

The committee would like to invite everyone to share this event. LADIES PENNANT Friday 16 th June sees the commencement of Divisions 5 & 7 pennants and Friday 23 rd June Division 7 will be hosted at Nudgee. We wish them Good Luck for their matches during the season.

ANNE COSTIN Round 1 of this event will commence on Saturday 17 th June (Stroke event for all grades combined with the Monthly Medal) and at the conclusion of the 2nd Round on Saturday 24 th at presentations, Champagne and cake will be shared following the announcement of the winner. Everyone is invited to stay and join in the festivities. NUDGEE JUNIORS Nudgee Ladies would like to support our junior golfers who are our future members and give them encouragement. Should anyone have any issues with regard to any juniors playing on the course, please speak to our Club Captain Troy Scott and let him know of your concerns. Our junior golfers are to be treated as any golfer is treated and that is with courtesy and respect. PAYMENTS If any lady golfer has a payment to be made regarding purchasing of golf shirts, donations or for raffle please ensure the payments are passed on to Tina or a Committee person for recording of funds received. THURSDAY GOLF Shannon wishes to advise that this competition is open to members and nonmembers and is being very well supported by many regular ladies enjoying their 9 holes on Thursday mornings. There is a trophy fee of $5.00 per player. Anybody wishing to play in this event to please look at the time sheet on the Nudgee Golf Club Website or phone the Pro Shop on 3267 5885 and book into a time slot.

FAREWELL TO MEMBERS Three long term members of our club have resigned, the members being Daphne Ness, Norma Priday and Babette White. We wish these ladies all the best for the future and hope to see them visit our Club again in the near future. OPEN INVITATION DAY Also in June, Tuesday 27 th - Ladies Open Invitation Day. Again ladies please invite your friends along to play. MONTHLY RULE Rule 20-2. Dropping and Re-Dropping By Whom and How A ball to be dropped under the Rules must be dropped by the player himself. He must stand erect, hold the ball at shoulder height and arm s length and drop it. If a ball is dropped by any other person or in any other manner and the error is not corrected as provided in Rule 20-6, the player incurs a penalty of one stroke. If the ball, when dropped, touches any person or the equipment of any player before or after it strikes a part of the course and before it comes to rest, the ball must be re-dropped, without penalty. There is no limit to the number of times a ball must be re-dropped in these circumstances. JOKE OF THE MONTH My neighbor knocked on my door at 2:30 this morning, can you believe that? 2:30am! Lucky for him that I was still up playing my bagpipes!
