A P R I L 2 0 1 7 CORRAL CHATTER OUR PUROSE IS TO PROMOTE GOOD FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN HORSEMEN AND A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF HORSES President s Message Hello everyone, happy 1 st day of April, and I hope everyone is enjoying the start to Spring. We did have a nice March at the club, starting with our annual corned beef & cabbage dinner at the General Meeting. A big thank you to Norma and her crew for preparing the majority of our dinner, and also thanks to the various board members who also helped with bringing corned beef, all the fixings and dessert! The following day was our Dirty Horse Ride, with a whopping 4 riders showing up to to participate. Thank you to Linda Carcione for organizing the awards, setting up tables/chairs for the potluck and ensuring an enjoyable day. Also in March, our own Lank Rowland volunteered his time by having his crew paint the rental house a much needed improvement! A huge round of applause for Lank & his guys, we really appreciate your dedication to the club!! The month of April marks the beginning of two exciting show series that the club will be putting on. First, on Sunday April 9 th, we will have our first 5D Playday! Sign-ups at 8 am, show starts at 9 am. Come on out to ride or just to stop by and watch the riders as everyone s support and encouragement is always appreciated! Then, on Sunday April 23 rd, we will have our first Schooling Show! Again, sign-ups at 8 am and show starts at 9 am. Liz Kehoe has been working extremely hard to pull this show together and we can t thank her enough for her enthusiasm and organization of this event! We will be doing our popular tri-tip sandwiches at the 5D Playday, and having lunch provided by Blue Rock BBQ for the Schooling Show. As we all know, it takes a village and that holds true for all the events at the club. We need volunteers at the shows and ask that everyone try to set aside some time over the next few months to help out. In particular, the schooling show does have multiple areas needing volunteers. If you have volunteered to help OR if you can come out to help, please reach out by email to Liz Kehoe to confirm your availability lizzyk@aol.com I look forward to seeing everyone this month, either at one of the shows, at our General Meeting on April 21 st, or at the Spring Ride scheduled for Saturday April 22 nd. There are no shortcuts to any place worth going. Karen Tarasco President Santa Clara County Horsemen s Association, Inc. 78 Great Years!
