Talking Feint Visiting Team "LONDON LINES" This weekend we entertain ourcounty colleagues from Lincolnshire and on behalf of everyone involved with London I would like to extend a warm welcome to all their players, officials and supporters. Alan Fuller, our Men's Super League Secretary has given me one of his memento programmes which features our premier league clash with Lincolnshire of the 198/8 season. London were then sponsored by Watney Coombe Reid which is not too far removed from Watney Truman, our present sponsors. However, take a guess at how many of today's London players were representing us six years ago. Well, I'll put you out of your misery and tell you that in fact only five players are still actively involved witn the London men's teams and two with the ladies. They are Steve Brown, Reg Harding, Graham Parker, Clive Pearce and Scott Coleman for the men and Linda Batten (now Duffy) and Mina Jones (now Nightingale) for the ladies. For Lincolnshire, there are just three men and one lady survivors. Maurice Cook, Mick Brooks and Peter Gunson plus the lone lady, Doreen Ledger. The premier division itself has undergone some changes in the intervening years, but just to remind you of the participating teams in 198/8 they were: Durham, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Gwent, Staffordshire, Glamorgan, Surrey, Yorkshire, Kent and of course, London. This weekend, we are on the 2nd leg of what might be called the London Tour' and we are delighted to link up with the S.T.C. Sports and Social Club for this match. Particularthanks are extended to the Club Secretary, Peter Abraham and his staff for making us welcome. Our encounter promises to be very keenly contested with the final result important to both counties. My best wishes are extended to all concerned. In conclusion, I am sure that everyone in London, and for that matter in darts, will extend a prayer for the full and speedy recovery from a stroke to Beryl Howes, wife of our Assistant General Secretary, Tony Howes. Our thoughts are with both of them. TRAVEL MANAGERS REPORT Our next away trip is probably one of the most popular of the season, away to Yorkshire, on the weekend ot December the 9th and 10th. I have booked a luxury 78 seater double decker coach which will leave the A.T.A. Club, Leyton at 2pm on Friday 8th of December. I have also booked our regular hotel, Ladbrokes (now part of the Hilton chain) in Garforth. I shall be 'in residence' at this weekend's county match so if you require to be booked on the coach and hotel, or just the hotel, it is very important that you see me as spaces will undoubtedly be limited.
