THE COUGAR NEWS Welcome to the fifth edition of The Cougar News the 2016/17 season. Over the past couple of weeks Corrimal Cricket Club have seen some outstanding individual and team performances. With the bat both Kurtis Trindall and Pana Ave scored their maiden centuries in senior cricket. Kurtis scored a wonderful hundred in 1 st Grade against University. His final total was 113 comprising of 17 fours. In 4 th Grade Pana Ave scored a century while chasing a total against Helensburgh. Pana in the end scored 111 not out with 17 fours. With the ball, there have been two five wicket hauls, Xavier McDevitt in 1 st Grade against University got 5/82 off 24 overs and Josh Yeaman last week in 3 rd Grade against University got 5/34 off 10 overs. Last weekend saw our Trivia Night held at Corrimal RSL Club. It was a great night had by all. Congratulations to all the winners on the nights. A big thank you to the bar staff at Corrimal RSL and also the staff from the bistro JAFFA. Our players and members have complemented on the service they have received has been very welcoming. A big thank you to all of our sponsors, with Corrimal RSL Club being our major sponsor. Our supporting sponsors are Dave Williams Excavations, Browlec Electrical, BaiMed - Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic and Bentia Print Finishings. On Friday, 11 th Novmeber is Remembrance Day at 11am. There will be a service held at Anzac Grove on Railway Sreet, Corrimal starting at 10:30am. Ahead of the Game is a newly developed program being run by the University of Wollongong and Cricket Australia, among others. The aim of the program is to improve youth mental health through community sport. It targets adolescent male mental health by engaging with the whole community around the local sports club. It involves a series of different programs which have been designed with input from young male athletes, coaches, and families in the Illawarra region.
