President: Janet Gethin Vice President: Amy Strange Secretary: Michelle Fitzgerald Treasurer: Helen Moyle Registrar: Kathrine Hughes Uniforms and Merchandising: Dorothea Lloyd Fundraising Officer: Michelle Day Facilities and Equipment: Gavin Righton OSH Officer: Shayla Prescott Marketing and Publications: Michelle Fitzgerald Club 10: Shona Raudonikis Coaching Coordinator: Janet Nicholson General Committee Members: Bruce Sherman, Amanda Rintoul, Lisa Righton, Carolyn Orr and Katrina Evans There are 154 boys and 246 girls who are members of Karratha Gymnastics. That is 400 gymnasts! Our youngest gymnast is 9 months old. Our oldest gymnast is 15years old. This does not include the gymnasts who come to the adult session! We currently have 11 coaches working with our gymnasts. We run classes for 24.5 hours a week. We run 13 Kindergym morning sessions. We run 2 boys recreational sessions. We run 2 girls recreational sessions. We run 1 prelevel session. We have 7 different competition level groups including a boys class. We have an Acrodance class. There are 26 classes in total at Karratha Gymnastics Association at the moment. All members of the committee volunteer their time to make the club a better place. Karratha Gymnastics is a Not For Profit Organisation. Karratha Gymnastics have a facebook group. Why not ask to join it is a great place to find out what is happening in your club. Just search for Karratha Gymnastics Club. From the President The Karratha Gymnastics Club has had a little bit of staff movement in the past month. It is with sadness that we farewell Lisa Righton, one of our long-standing full-time coaches. Lisa has been involved with gymnasts at all levels from Kindygym, Recreational Classes and competition classes. Lisa and her family are moving to Geraldton mid-way through Term 4, and we are very sad to see them go. Lisa's commitment and dedication to the Club has been so appreciated, and we wish her and her family the best of luck in their new venture. We also farewell her husband, Gavin Righton, our current Facilities & Equipment Officer. If anyone has any interest in following on from Gavin in filling this position, please contact the Club.

We are also saying farewell to Tammy Mertens, our Finance and Administration Officer for the past 2-3 years. Tammy has been instrumental in keeping the club running over the past few years when committee participation and support was low. Tammy has gone above and beyond countless times, right through to helping on the floor (coaching & setting up) when needed. Tammy's support and commitment to the Club has been so appreciated, and we hope that she enjoys her well deserved break. Saying that, we welcome our new Finance and Administration Officer, Sherry Fitzgerald. Sherry has a varied background of experiences, and we are very excited about the skills and enthusiasm she is bringing to this role. Sherry will be undergoing a handover process with Tammy in the immediate future, so please be patient as she learns about our club, our processes and how great we are! I'd also like to promote our newest class - Adult Gymnastics. If you've ever sat and watched your child and thought to yourself "I could do that!", then come to the Leisureplex on a Monday night, 6.30-8.30pm and give it a go. Don't need to book... just turn up with $10 and a sense of humour! Don't forget we also have a Facebook page, where information, feedback and ideas can be found - Karratha Gymnastics Club. Janet Gethin From the Head Coach We have had a really busy time this last month! 24 gymnasts travelled to Broome to compete and they all performed fabulously! Some of the gymnasts improved on their results from North West! A huge congratulations to Tygue Prescott who worked hard to complete his Beginner Coach Accreditation whilst we were in Broome. This term we have added 3 new Kindergym classes and so I would like to say a big welcome to all our new gymnasts and their carers who have joined us. It is great to see all the new faces in the gym! We have also changed our older classes with gymnasts moving up in levels and it looks like everyone is settling in well with their new coaches. Recently some of the parents have been assisting with packing away. This has been an awesome help to myself and the other coaches. So THANK YOU! If anyone else is available to help please let me know. We won t be seeing Shayla as much over the next few weeks. She is busy studying for her ATAR exams. We wish her lots of luck and know that she will do a fabulous job. A big thanks to Kym Singleton, Kylie Bassett, Yolande Hudson and Amanda Rintoul for helping to cover her classes. Finally I would like to say a sad farewell to one of our coaches and to wish her all the best in her new adventures in Geraldton. Hopefully Karratha will see you again, Lisa. Janet Nicholson Head Coach

Ever wondered if there was something you could do to assist to make your child s experience with Karratha Gymnastics even better Here are some ideas: Assist our coaches to pack the equipment away at the end of the class if you are the last ones for the session. Many hands make light work! Encourage your children to say thanks and let our coaches know that they are appreciated. A lot of them are volunteers. Ask your employer if they would like to sponsor the Karratha Gymnastics Club. Pay your term fees promptly. Let your coaches know if you have any concerns. They can t fix something if they don t know about it. Complete the survey that will be out this week. Gymbakids, Kindergym and Rec Gymnasts Party Day We are in the process of setting a date to celebrate the great year our younger gymnasts have had. Please stayed tuned for details. Congratulations to Tygue Prescott who achieved his Junior Coaching Accreditation Level recently. Welcome to our new coaches who have started this term. Shayla is on reduced hours until late November because she is studying for exams. A huge thanks to Zarli and Casey Ryan s Dad for the fabulous new shelving in our store room. Dorothea and helpers for organising the awesome Trophy Night. Chantelle Smith for donating the fabulous Trophy Night cake. Come along on a Monday evening between 6:30 and 8:30 for a fabulous evening of stretching, balancing, tumbling and laughs! It costs $10 per session and you can come when you like. Lots of fun was had by our group in the first week. Hope to see you there next Monday! Thanks Shanine and Shaye for coaching our willing adults!

On Friday the 18 th of November we held our annual presentation night for the pre-level and competition level gymnasts. It was a fabulous evening where we celebrated all the great achievements our gymnasts have had this year. Dorothea Lloyd The night would not have been possible without the hard word of Dorothea and her amazing team of volunteers. Lisa Righton Thank you, goodbye and goodluck. Lisa has been a fabulous coach for Karratha Gymnastics. We will miss you! Chantelle Smith Thank you to Chantelle who donated our fabulous cake. If you are looking for an amazing cake make sure you give her a call! 0410 721 527 chaneil1@bigond.com

The coaches have been very impressed with Erin this year. She has put many hours into Karratha Gymnastics as a gymnast, a coach and a role model. Erin always attends events and supports her fellow gymnasts, she trains exceptionally hard and her positive attitude is certainly an asset. Erin has recently been selected to participate in a talent development squad in Perth and placed 3 rd in the 2013 state competition for vault. Congratulations Erin!
