MATCH REPORTS Under 11 Girls Round 11 v Zillmere Our last Saturday game and playing at Zillmere on their big occasion day was a good opportunity for the girls to play in front of a large crowd and they did a really good job. The highlight was the running handball which suddenly appeared which was really great to see and the girls saw what they could do. Sienna Well done. She continues to improve and taking the player on was much better so this week will be a big one for her. Always happy and having a go. Sinead She tried and forced contests which is great to see. She continues to learn and is getting better and better. When she feels confident, she runs amok. This week we are out at Sandgate and with Jess, Kaitlyn and Sarah out it will be an opportunity for the girls to play a full game and see what they can do. It is always something to look forward to. Amelia She had a really good game as can be seen in the photos. I find it so hard to remember that she is an Under 8. She looks for the handball and has no fear. Ashika The more I push her to run, the harder she goes. I think she likes the challenge which is a big step for a junior footballer Ashleigh Usually plays U13 but is only 11 so can play down and she had a great game with lots of running and working hard. She fits in really well and the team appreciated her help on the weekend. Claire Didn t think she was coming as she had a soccer game finishing at 10 and I turn to the bench in the 1 st quarter and there she is. Shows the dedication she and I really enjoy her playing, tackling, kicking and handballing as her skills have increased. Georgia What a game to have in front of your Mum!!!!! A cracking game and unlucky not to have 4 goals. Her game continues to grow and I love it. Isabella She has no idea of taking a backward step. Always wants the ball and her using handball has expanded her game which was already excellent. Jessica Talk about a super sub. Played 2 half quarters and excelled in both. A huge jump in the midfield and managed to grab 2 goals. Kaitlyn Plays really well, week after week. She brings other players into the game and makes good position to keep the ball moving. Her running alongside Sarah and in position for the handball was superb. Sarah Player of the Match and well deserved. Always wants the ball and her willingness to tackle is good. Always wants the goals and it s great pity to hear about the broken wrist. She will be missed on the field. Coach Charles Tibbitts Go WOLVES 4

Under 14 Round 15 v Springwood Top of the table clash this weekend against Springwood but the team was keen to challenge themselves against the Pumas. The early start and dew made for slippery conditions and Pumas came out hard to bash and crash and put pressure on us early. The Pumas pressed early and some great tackling from Jahli and defensive pressure from Tom and Luke allowed us to limit their scoring to a point. Grace provided good tackle pressure through the midfield and with Cameron s run got us going. Will had great intent for the ball and a strong break and kick to Ryan who took a strong mark and kick to give us the first goal of the game and a quarter time lead. The second quarter saw the Puma s continued to pressure hard and were able to put our defence under pressure. Duncan was strong as usual across half back as was Ella, running back to make up the numbers and bouncing back after a solid bump. We got the ball forward thanks to hard work from Ethan and Sam whose contest on the ball was strong but we could not convert and they got us on the rebound a couple of times to give them a 10 point lead at the main break. After the long break we came out with a renewed focus and lifted our intensity led by our forwards. Andrew laid some good tackles and Alyssa won contested ball to give Ryan and early shot. Ethan continued to mark and contest strongly and Atticus worked his way into the game with some good hands to release a running Rhys whose work in the second half was fantastic. Defensively we were strong too with Duncan and James A laying great tackles to pressure and James M contested clearances limiting their scoring. Our efforts were good but we could only manage 4 points and a late goal for the Pumas gave them a 12 point lead at the final change. The game was up for grabs in the last quarter and despite being tired from their efforts so far, the team continued to work. Ella and Cameron continued to find space and link up with team mates to give us run and Korbin, playing on a much taller player, continually beat him to get us forward. Doug provided a good target up forward and Mobin, with his second and third efforts to win the ball helped us generate opportunity for him. Again, we generated chances but were unable to convert, with another 4 behinds and not being able to close the 10 point gap at the final siren. It was a great effort despite the result and the players continued to try hard until the final siren with accuracy ultimately the difference. We put up a great fight led by Ella and Rhys and really pushed the Pumas and the team was understandably shattered both physically and with the result. I am proud of the efforts and the team can take a lot from the game and look forward to seeing them again later in the season. Coach Sean Doolan 6
