He currently stands at 109-86-26 (.552 winning percentage) in 221 games behind the Blueshirts' bench. In his first two full seasons in the position, Renney has helped guide the Rangers to back-to-back, 40-win seasons for the first time since 1974 and was a finalist for the 2006 Jack Adams Award, given annually to the league's most outstanding coach, after leading the Blueshirts to the post-season for the first time since 1997. There's No Place Like Home The Rangers have enjoyed great success at Madison Square Garden since the end of the 2006-07 campaign. Over the last 25 regular season games, dating back to March 17 vs. Boston (W, 7-0), the Blueshirts have posted a record of 17-8-0 and have outscored opponents 69-45, while holding the opposition to a 1.79 goals against average over the span. New York has won 20 of the last 29 games at MSG, beginning with a 3-2 shootout win over St. Louis on March 3, allowing just 52 goals against (1.71 goals against average) while notching 78 goals during the stretch. Including five games from the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Rangers are 24-10-0 in the last 34 home games, outscoring opponents 97-61 (1.70 goals against average) over the span. NYR Recent Highlights October -On October 4, the Rangers kicked off their 81st season at home, defeating the Florida Panthers, 5-2, marking the second consecutive year the Blueshirts have won a season opener at MSG. Chris Drury, in his first game as a Ranger, notched the game-winning goal and added two assists to earn First Star honors. Jaromir Jagr tallied two assists, and is now tied for first all-time (Ray Bourque) for most career points in season openers with 30 points (nine goals and 21 assists). -The Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals, 3-1, in the front end of back-to-back home games on October 12 at MSG. Scott Gomez tallied his first goal/point as a Ranger on his way to earning Second Star honors. Jaromir Jagr (First Star) recorded three assists on the night and, with his second assist, passed Paul Coffey for 11th on the NHL's all-time scoring list. -Jaromir Jagr tallied his 100th goal as a Ranger on October 13 vs. Ottawa. The Blueshirt captain was also playing in his 200th game for New York. -Through the first nine games, the Rangers surrendered 16 goals in regulation/overtime for an NHL best 1.76 goals against average during the span. It also marked the first time since the 1939-40 season the Blueshirts have allowed fewer than 17 goals in regulation/overtime through their first nine games, when they allowed 13 goals, and ranks second in franchise history.

-Brendan Shanahan tallied two goals and added an assist on October 29 vs. Tampa Bay. With his third point of the game, he became the 29th player in NHL history to record 1,300 career points (630 goals and 670 assists). November -Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 31 shots on November 1 vs. Washington en route to his third shutout of the season and 10th of his career. He needed only 131 starts to reach 10 shutouts, becoming the third fastest to the mark in franchise history (1. G. Villemure - 102 starts; 2. E. Giacomin - 110 starts). -The Rangers closed out a six-game homestand, their longest of the season, with a 2-0 win vs. the Flyers on November 5 to post a 5-1-0 record over the stretch. New York yielded only six goals, holding each of their opponents scoreless in 20 times shorthanded. Henrik Lundqvist started each of the six games, posting a 0.83 goals against average, a.968 save percentage and three shutouts and Brendan Shanahan registered six points (three goals and three assists) in the six games. -New York defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3, in overtime on November 17 at Mellon Arena behind four goals scored by their defensemen. It marks the first time in 14 years that Rangers blueliners notched four or more goals in a game, when Brian Leetch (two goals), Kevin Lowe and Sergei Zubov accomplished the feat on December 17, 1993 at Detroit (L, 6-4). With the win, the Blueshirts finished their four-game road trip with a record of 4-0-0, and now sit alone atop the Atlantic Division standings for the first time this season. -The Blueshirts defeated the New York Islanders, 4-2, on November 29 at Madison Square Garden to post a record of 10-3-1 in the month of November. It was only the 15th time in franchise history the Rangers registered 10 or more wins in a single month and was one win shy of tying the record for most wins in a month (six times, last - December 1996). December -The Rangers shutout the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-0, on December 18 at Madison Square Garden. Henrik Lundqvist made 18 saves en route to his career-high, sixth shutout of the season. Michal Rozsival also set a personal best with three assists in the win.

Tom Renney New York Rangers Head Coach Is now in his third season as Head Coach and eighth season with the Rangers. After being named the 33rd head coach in franchise history on July 6, 2004, Renney has led the Rangers to 40-or-more wins in consecutive seasons, a feat last accomplished by the club in 1974. On November 10, 2007, he won his 100th game as the Rangers' Head Coach becoming just the eighth person in franchise history to reach the mark. In 2006-07, Renney compiled a 42-30-10 record during the regular season and helped the Blueshirts reach the playoffs for the second time in as many years. He also guided the team to a first-round playoff sweep last season, marking New York s first since 1994. Season highlights include his 100th career victory (Nov. 21 vs. Carolina) and his first career playoff win (Apr. 12 at Atlanta). During the 2005-06 season, Renney guided the team to a 44-26-12 mark, and with 100 points, turned in the sixth-highest point total in club history. After leading the Blueshirts to the post-season for the first time since 1997, he was tabbed a finalist for the Jack Adams Award, given annually to the league's most outstanding coach. * Won his third consecutive season opener on Oct. 4 vs. Florida, and is now 3-0-0 in season openers with the Rangers. * Notched his 100th win as the Rangers' Head Coach on Nov. 10 at Toronto.
