KILWORTH SPRINGS GOLF CLUB LADIES SECTION COMMITTEE MEETING 9 JANUARY 2017 Present: Lady President Liz Scribbins, Lady Captain and County Contact Secretary Sarah Smith, Vice Captain Sheila Major, Treasurer Sue Burgess, Match Secretary Claire Kunz, Sue Tuckley & Minute Secretary Monica Cockerill, Apologies: Handicap Secretary Tina Morley, Sue Jones VETS Representative, Valerie Wilford. Matters Arising; It was confirmed to Sheila and Claire that the informal comps. on the third Thursdays would only take place during the summer (April- September) Captain s Report: SARAH SMITH Sarah hoped everyone had enjoyed the Christmas Texas Scramble and meal. Par bar and Birdie tree to go up Details of Friendlies to be displayed Daily Mail Foursomes entered, will remain a Knockout Comp. Mail on Sunday not running this year. Planning an away day in early June and a 1 night away trip in early September. Two exchange days are organised; Willesley Park 21 June and Ruddington 7 August. Handicap Secretary s Report: TINA MORLEY 1. Annual review handicaps The annual review took place on January 4 th. In order to help this process the computer produces a report that analyses play over the last year. In addition this year a report / formula had been prepared that looked at team /pairs scores, which is used by other clubs in Leics. It was decided that all players in to be reviewed category (i.e. they had only played in 3-7 competitions) with a high performance against target i.e. over minus 4, should be decreased by 1 shot. These players are Gillian Lonergan, Samantha Chell and Elaine Moreton. The exception was Carol Green who was not cut as her net par score was in a nine hole competition and her other cards were well over net par. In addition it was decided that Deb West be cut by a shot as she had been flagged up in this review category and she had won ladies team/pairs events and would have scored at least 15 points on the new team review formula **(see note below). The following players had played in more than 7 competitions and so recommended to be cut and so would be decreased by

Sheila Major - 2 shots as per computer review i.e. 30.5 to 28.5 Sue Burgess - Terry Redmond had taken advice from Regional Handicap Adviser as Sue had also scored highly (15 points) in team scoring system, in mixed competitions. The Regional Adviser had proposed she be cut by 2.8 shots i.e. from 19.3 to 16.5 i.e. 17 All the players who had been suggested for a handicap increase of 1 shot were agreed. Most of them had struggled to put in 3 cards this year and so not played to their previous handicap. These were Barbara Pickup (nil returns), Nicola Perone, Mary Hall, Debbie Neal, Julie Fish, Pat Garner and Pat Exelby. ** Note: The ladies team scores had not been included in the club analysis, but we had computed this separately. Our ladies team/pairs results will be fed into the team analysis in the future Players will be notified of these changes via letter and will have 14 days to appeal so the handicap list at the club will need to be checked by players until letters are received. 2. Competitive handicap review The following players lost their competitive handicap as they did not submit 3 qualifying cards in 2016 and so and will have to submit 3 cards to regain it. If this is within 6 months they will also keep their last handicap. They are Jackie Steel / Deb Bates / Janet Todd / Alison Kilpatrick / Shirley Morris / Jean Carter, Nicola Vicary / Rebecca Mayfield / Jill Mitchell / Viv MacNally / Suzanne Jackson. Liz Scribbins - had put in a request to keep her competitive handicap due to ill health this was agreed 3. New stableford allowance for mixed competitions The club handicap committee has now altered the ladies allowance in line with CONGU directive on medal and Stableford/Par Mixed competitions, as brought to their attention last year. The Kilworth Springs calculations and full tables are on the club website and includes mixed competitions, but a summary is given below. Stableford competitions The new CONGU rules state : Where there is a difference between the SSS and par of the courses being played and this results in different stableford points to play to handicap an adjustment is required. The difference is now applied to the players requiring the fewest number of stableford points to play to handicap. This is for competition results only The example given: Men s course off whites SSS 70 Par 71 i.e. 37 points required to play to handicap and Ladies red course SSS 73 Par 72 i.e. 35 points required to play to handicap. 37-35 points = 2 so strokes are added to ladies handicap prior to start the round On the Kilworth Springs course this means that if.. Men s course off blue SSS 72 Par 72 i.e. 36 points required to play to handicap Ladies red course SSS 73 Par 73 i.e. 36 points required to play to handicap

NO strokes are added to ladies handicap prior to start the round Men s course off whites SSS 71 Par 72 i.e. 37 points required to play to handicap Ladies red course SSS 73 Par 73 i.e. 36 points required to play to handicap So 1 stroke is added to ladies handicap prior to start the round Men s course off yellows SSS 70 Par 72 i.e. 38 points required to play to handicap Ladies red course SSS 73 Par 73 i.e. 36 points required to play to handicap So 2 strokes are added to ladies handicap prior to start the round Medals as before i.e. difference in SSS Blue tees : 1 stroke is added to ladies handicap prior to start the round White tees : 2 strokes are added to ladies handicap prior to start the round Yellow tees : 3 strokes are added to ladies handicap prior to start the round 9 hole club stableford/medal competitions (off white tees) - ladies will get one shot on their exact handicap These must also be followed by the Seniors and Ladies sections should they have any mixed events. It should be noted that for the club/mixed Winter League presently being played the allowances /strokes stay the same as before i.e. as at the start of the competition. 4. EGU ruling on scores to reported for opens and non- qualifiers in 2017 EGU have said that all scores received in opens and non- qualifiers should be submitted for handicap. Failure to do this could result in the loss of CONGU membership ie competitive handicap. This should start from 1 st January. EGU directive From 1 January 2017 England Golf require all players to return all scores in Non Qualifying Competition, to assist handicap committees with handicap reviews. (Clause 4.5b/8.12) Please note these scores will not directly affect a player s handicap, but may be used as supporting evidence of performance when it comes to a handicap review. Scores should be returned in all Singles, Am-Am, 4BBB and team competitions, with the exception of Texas Scrambles and Greensomes competitions.

Clubs should also be aware of regular roll-ups that take place at their club, where players are playing off a measured course under Competition Play Conditions. We would advise that these types of competitions should be played as qualifiers when possible. To assist with the return of scores, we advise that clubs outline a process to allow players to record these scores. It is recommended that this is done directly to the Handicap Committee, and that the Committee keep a copy of all information for the current year and one previous year. The information does not have to be recorded on the handicap software, but should be stored in a format that can be used for any handicap review. Information to be recorded: Date of Competition Format of Competition Venue/Course Tees used SSS of Course Name of playing partners Score returned Failure to return these scores could result in loss or suspension of handicap under clause 24.1. To assist we have produced a template form that clubs may use to allow players to record non qualifying scores (Non Qualifying Scores Return Form). Additional information and forms are on the club website starts We imagine will cause a lot of queries and questions and be very difficult to implement particularly at this club. I would suggest we have a fuller discussion about it at the next meeting when I can find out more about the practicalities of how it will work. 5. Closing down competitions in January and February I will have a problem closing competitions in January and February as I am away (in Cuba!) with limited wifi so I have arranged some training for members of the committee to show them how to close down competitions. Tina Morley - Ladies Handicap Secretary tina.morley@virgin.net PS: As I was unable to go to the January club handicap /competitions meeting this week I have not included a report perhaps Sarah will fill you in. *With regard to the annual handicap review after a lengthy discussion it was decided that Sarah would ask Tina (not present at this meeting) to clarify the difference in the reductions as there did not appear to be any consistency. Treasurer s Report: SUE BURGESS The ladies bank balance as at the 31 st December 2016 is 4618.26 with 239.30 of un-cleared receipts bringing the balance to 4378.96. Of this balance a cheque is due to the Captain s Charity of 1240.30, leaving 3138.66 as the Ladies Section funds. The opening funds for the year were 2768.85 with an increase of 369.81 in 2016.

Winter League prize money of 35, 25, and 15. Nick Melvin 20 yet to be paid. Match Secretary s Report: CLAIRE KUNZ Diary sheets for April 2017 March 2018 have been produced including all Ladies Medal, Stableford competitions etc. copying the exact same format from the current year. Val Judkin has entered fixtures onto computer. Terry Redmond confirmed all dates, and will produce Kilworth 2017 Diary. Scratch League and Handicap League matches have been organized. Nine Ladies friendly matches have been organised for 2017. Five mixed friendly matches have also been arranged. We have the dates of the Triway, Fourway challenge and Cold Ashby Plate. Also, waiting to hear if we are invited to play in the Brampton Heath Challenge. Competition entries Have entered Kilworth Springs into Taskers Trophy comp., one team of seven players. Also have entered Ladies and Men s section into Daily Mail Foursomes 2017. Mail on Sunday Classic is under review for 2017. Claire confirmed the away friendly match against Cold Ashby as Tuesday 9 May. A.O.B. The Open: Sarah will take registration forms to County meeting. Prize structure, 1 st prize 50, 2 nd 40, 3 rd 30 and 4 th 20. = 560 Nearest pin Silver hole 6, Bronze hole 11.Prize 15 each. Prize vouchers from John Lewis. All scores to count on holes 9 and 18. Neil and Jason will organise computer set up. Sarah will arrange for daffodils, Liz gift cards, Sue J & Monica raffle.

Via Sue Tuckley -Gillian Lonergan had asked why 18 hole competitions are non-qualifying from November to April but not the 9 hole comps? This was explained that the 9 hole comps. are club comps. they could be qualifying if the conditions were considered favourable. Gillian had also requested rules for each competition be posted in the changing room the committee would ensure Gillian was aware of them in The Bible in the foyer and also in the folder upstairs. Via Sue Jones (not present at meeting) As Kilworth was to host the VETS in September could we raise some money in order to decorate the changing rooms? This was considered inappropriate..sarah had approached Luke the Manager but was informed there were no funds for such work this year. It was decided that the Committee would give the changing rooms a thorough tidy up. **Since the meeting Management was prepared to give the changing room a bit of a face-lift. Claire requested 1 competition whereby we had Foxes 0 18 handicaps, Hares 19 28 and Rabbits 29 36. It was decided to discuss this at a later meeting. Date of next meeting 6 February. Meeting closed at 9.45pm Lady Captain Sarah Smith.. Dated..
