O. Box 4494 Petaluma, CA 94955-4494 Letter from the President On behalf of the new Board, Happy New Year! I am very excited about the Board s efforts thus far and look forward to the beginning of this golf season. Over the past several months, the Board has been diligently working on reviewing and analyzing your survey input to design a new and improved golf season for each and everyone of you. We believe this will be an outstanding season where every golfer of every talent level will have the opportunity for a great season. I personally believe this is one of the best calendars I have ever seen as a member. In case you think we have been hibernating this winter waiting for the Kick-Off, let me share some of the issues we have been focusing on. First, we believed it was especially important to establish Core Values for our Chapter. Now that this is accomplished, you will frequently hear the Board addressing these values throughout the year. (Look for them in the Newsletter!) Additionally, among the many other issues we have focused on from the survey results, is the issue of enhancing communications to our members and cliques within our Chapter. We have heard you and we are focusing on more timely communications this season. You should see regular email blasts with information on outings and play dates. You should also see timely posting of information, including outing registration on the web. Interestingly, the Association is also facing the issue of cliques in Chapters across the nation. When we first joined, many of us (and I am speaking for myself) were looking for a welcoming environment to learn and play golf. Here it was, EWGA Sonoma-Marin-Napa. When we found this welcoming environment, we establish life-long bonds of friendship inside and outside the game of golf. However, (and I am guilty of this), many of us prefer to play with our friends. Is that a bad thing? No, but The Board believes one of our retention elements is providing formats, which mix things up a little and provide all of us the opportunity to meet other members while ensuring we still have the opportunity to play with friends and remain challenged on the course. Therefore, throughout the golf season, you will see new formats allowing all of us the opportunity to meet and play with other members while ensuring a level of play. What can you do to help? VOLUNTEER, VOLUNTEER, VOLUNTEER!!!! We are looking for many volunteers. It is core to who we are and to our success. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the Chapter and also to meet other members. And last but not least, the Kick-Off is just around the corner. I hope to see all of you at Peacock Gap on March 17 th. Come for the breakfast, stay for golf, enjoy old and new friends after. See you at Peacock on the 17 th. Jennifer Yount

Winter 2007 Page 7 Golf Education with EWGA Rachel M0reaux Golf Education is going to a new level this year with the goal of lowering your scores, helping you to hit the ball better, making more putts, and to help you play your best golf round after round. Do you have a friend that wants to learn to play or maybe have been away from golf for awhile and wants to start playing again? Have them sign up for our getting started series. Would you like to break 100 or 90 more often? Maybe your sand game isn t so great or you want to make more putts (and who doesn t)? We will help with the above and more. We will have clinics to help your mental game as well as your fitness. There is a clinic for all skill level as will as multiple opportunities to have a playing lesson with a Pro. Clinics will start in April and run through October. We are sure you will find a clinic that is right for you and at a time you can attend. We may have a few surprises for you during the year so make sure you watch for further news from your golf education committee. Easy OnLine Renewal RENEW BY GOING TO OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.EWGA.COM RENEWALS MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE END OF MARCH At this time of year, many members are unsure about the online renewal process (for some this is the one time a year they sign into the Members Only area). Although these quick instructions are included in the email and mailed letters that we send with the renewal forms, it would be an important reminder to include in your Chapter newsletter to help support communication and make things easier: Sign into the Members Only area using your login (member ID) and password. (Send an email to member@ewga.com if you have forgotten your password.) Click on the Renewal Reminder tab in the upper right corner of the screen. Confirm your Chapter and membership level. Enter your credit card payment information and hit submit

Page 8 EWGA - The making of lifetime friends Last year 4 friends from EWGA-SMN traveled on the greatest golf adventure - they went to St. Andrews and had the time of their lives... several years ago they did not even know each other and in 2006 they joined together for the ultimate golf adventure. They went on a trip through the golf tour called "St.Andrew's Golf Experience". Through this group they had pre-set tee times at the old course and 3 other Scotland golf courses of their choice AND had the time of their lives. One of the EWGA perks is finding friends for life... I hope you find it too! Meg Thompson, Nancy Maul, Stephanie Krist and Bridget Wilson.
