Public Holiday Monday is a Public Holiday so enjoy another day with the kids at home. School Council Positions Thanks and congratulations to Jane Salisbury, Sharon Foster, Ellen Sykes and Peta Thexton for nominating for School Council. The positions are now complete. Our AGM will be on the 17 th of March at 7.30pm in the Staffroom. Grade 3-4 Camp Grade 3 and 4 will be held in the first week of Term 2. The total cost of camp is $220. We will be attending Coonawarra Camp just outside Bairnsdale. Please contact me if you need to make a payment plan. We will be joining in with Traralgon South, Glengarry and Tyers Primary Schools. Handwriting We are currently cracking down on letter formation and handwriting. Several of the students have difficult hand writing to read and most can improve in one way or another. All students in Grades 1-6 are undertaking formal handwriting lessons. The Prep students are also working on letter formation however in a more basic sense. Spelling Homework A reminder that all Spelling Homework books must be back at school (completed) on s. They are then sent home again on Wednesday. Those that forget their books on, or are not completed, must do these at recess or lunchtime each day for the next week. This is something we are really strict on.
PARENTS CLUB NEWS Earlier this week you should have received your raffle tickets for our Easter raffle. Donations of chocolates can now be dropped off at school. Tickets are due back at school by Thursday 26th March 2015. Hot Cross Bun orders are still under way and need to be returned to school by 17th March. For every pack of Hot Cross Buns sold the school receives $2.00 Our next parents club meeting is on the Monday 16th March at 9.10am. This will be our AGM and everyone is welcome to attend. AUSKICK We currently have no Auskick running in Gormandale due to having no convenor. For many years children have enjoyed the Auskick program run over the winter months. If anyone is interested (and yes females have run in at times in the past) please contact Ryan Evans AFL Country Football Development Manager Gippsland 0447933427. He is running an Auskick start-up meeting which is scheduled to be held in Rosedale at 7pm on Monday March 16th where he can give out some resources and have a chat regarding what the role entails. IPADS We were incredibly fortunate to receive a grant for 12 new Ipad minis. The current 6 ipads are in Mrs Tipping s room, with the new minis in the Grade 2/3 room and the 4/5/6 room. The students absolutely love working with them. Skoolbo We have started a new online program to improve our English and Maths skills. It is an incredibly addictive game, with class, school, state and national leader boards positions to compete for. Students can either play it using the Skoolbo app or on the Skoolbo website. (these will need to be pulled out as they are rather large) Cut back bottle brush The bottle brush are situated in the garden bed near that sports shed. These need the lower branches cut back to allow room for the daffodils in the bed to be seen. Spread Mulch out under the trees in Granny s Grove (the trees between the sports shed and the art room). The mulch is in a pile near the trees. Distribute mulch to playgrounds (when arrives) BOOK CLUB LOOP is the new scholastic book club linked online ordering and payment system for parents. All LOOP orders still earn points for school to be used to purchase books by the school All LOOP orders go directly to school and get distributed by the school. No need to fill in forms, just order online with no need to send money or a form back to school. I have personally used the LOOP system and it is very easy to use and Scholastic notify me as the coordinator of Book Club to let me know that an order has been place.
