Tigers Boys Basketball Scoreboard Trans. 8th 37 ICS 49 Trans. 6th 13 Highland Catholic 44 T I G E R S BOYS BASKETBA L L NEWS 8th/7th Grade The 2018-2019 7 th and 8 th grade boys Transfiguration basketball team just completed a great season that demonstrated their true Tiger Spirit! The combined team, consisting of six 7 th graders and three 8 th graders, fought hard through each regular season game and tournament in an 8 th grade league. What they lacked in size and experience, they made up for in effort and heart; never giving up and battling until the buzzer. One of the highlights of the season was winning first place in the Transfiguration tournament after an exciting championship game that was sealed with two clutch free throws. The season ended last Friday, March 1st with a playoff game at Immaculate Conception. The Tigers played a tough game of defense and put a lot of points on the board, but ultimately could not keep up with IC as they pulled ahead in the second half. A special thanks to our amazing fans who made every game feel like a home game! We wish the best of luck to our 8 th grade players as they finish their school year and move on to greener pastures. Keep your eyes open for a battle hardened 8 th grade team next year that already know how to compete! In the first round of the CAA playoffs our Boys lost to Highland Catholic. The coaches are proud of the way the players hung in there for the entire season. They hope the players are looking forward to next. And being a little taller, stronger, quicker, playing smarter, and progressing more as a team. All players are asked to turn in their jerseys and shorts as soon as possible. Some have already turn in their jerseys. Thanks for doing that so promptly.

Tigers Girls Basketball Scoreboard Trans. 7th 23 St. Agnes 14 Trans. 7th 26 Nativity White 27 Tigers Girls Basketball Upcoming Games T I G E R S GIRLS BA SKETBA L L NEWS 7 TH G R A D E The Fighting Lady Tigers of 7 th grade had a great year as they continued to get better. After a 7-2 record and 2 nd place finish in the CAA Eastside league, the Tigers traveled to Nativity to take on St Agnes in the first round of the playoffs. March Madness is here, win or go home. We need to start quick and finish said Sami McMenomy in her postgame interview after a big final regular season win over Hill Murray. Mothers night, we didn t want to let them down said Jordyn Preiner. With Kendall Buffalo in California trying out for The Voice, the Tigers normal Iron 7 were down to an Iron 6 but that would not be an issue. An early start and dominating defense led the Tigers to a 24-14 win and pushed them to a Great Eight bid as the push to Hang a Banner was on its way. Scoring for the Tigers was balanced with Preiner 7, Geelhoed 6, O Neill 6, and Johnson 5. With the win the Tigers earned themselves a return trip to Nativity to somehow take on a Nativity team who got a home playoff game. The girls played a choppy first half but finished down 11-10 at half with a late 1 st half comeback. Let s go out like rabid dogs and win this said DJ Johnson in the halftime speech. The girls came out firing in the 2 nd half and got up 26-24 with 1 minute remaining. The crowd was loud and the game intense. Nativity would tie it up with 30 seconds left and after a turnover with 5.2 seconds left Nativity had the ball on their end. On the inbound great defense was played but a foul call that nobody seemed to recognize why was called with 2.4 seconds left on our Tigers. Nativity converted one of two free throws and the win 27-26. A brutal way to end the year but the Lady Tigers showed class in the postgame handshake. Scoring for the Tigers : Preiner 14, O Neill 7, Johnson 3, Geelhoed 2. Coach Preiner and Coach Buffalo expressed their appreciation for the girls who put the time in and continue to get better. Final record for season was 11-6 with 3 losses to 8 th grade teams. Looking to hang a banner in 2020 Spring Sports sign up is happening now. Please submit the forms and payments as soon as possible.

Swim Team Congratulations to our 58 Swiminators that made to the St. Odilia Meet on Sunday, March 3 rd. The meet was held at St. Catherine s, a great opportunity to visit and compete at one of our local Universities. We saw a lot of great competition at this meet, attending were Frassati, Metro School for the Deaf, North Heights Christian Academy, St. Agnes, St. Odilia and the Swiminators. Our swimmers continued to prove to themselves that their hard work at practice pays off with many Personal Bests and first-time swims in new events or longer distances. Competing in new events were Allyson F (5) in the 50 Back and 25 Breaststroke, Leighla M (2) in the 25 Fly, Mariano M (5) in the 100 Free and 25 Fly, Sophia R (5) in the 25 Breaststroke, Kayleigh S (5) in the 50 Breaststroke and Sean V (8) in the 50 Fly and 100 Breaststroke. Personal Bests were gained by Allyson F in the 50 Free, DylanH (K) in the 25 Free, Jack K (6) in the 100 Back and 50 Fly, Mariano in the 50 Back, Mallory S (5) in the 25 Back, and Mitch S (1) in the 25 Free and 25 Back, Kayleigh in the 25 Breast and 25 Back and Sean in the 100 Free. With many so many of our swimmers attending and some different age combinations available, we were able to mix up the relay groups and have some great results there too. Mariano contributed to a first place Boys Grade 3-5 200 Free Relay and Jack contributed to first place finishes in the Grade 6-8 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay. Our next meet is: Saturday, March 9 th at St. Thomas Academy, hosted by Visitation Practice schedule at the White Bear Lake YMCA: Friday's: 6:15-7:45 pm (no practice Jan 18, Feb 1, or March 15) Sunday's: 10:45 am to 12:15 pm (no practice on Jan 27th or March 3rd for the swim meet) Saturday, March 23rd CAA Prelims, Skyview Elementary, Oakdale -All Day, 7 Sessions by Grade/Gender, you only attend the session for your swimmers)

Athletic Director Be aware that coaches, assistant coaches and volunteers need to be current with the VIRTUS training. Any student athlete that wants to play on more than one team in the same season can explore that option, just be aware of the chance of more time conflicts. Anyone can join the Tiger Pride Booster Club at any time during the year. It is a fun group and the money they raise selling concessions helps with the school sports teams. On April 6 the Black & Gold celebration will take place in the school gym. It is a fun time for all. The HIGHLIIGHT of the evening (in my opinion) is the new inductee into the Transfiguration Athletic Hal of Fame. Watch for upcoming events: 4HG clinic put on by CSCOE on????. This event is for students in 3rd through 8th grade. Little Dribblers basketball skills development put on by the Booster Club. Spring Sports sign up forms (now attached). Baseball, Softball, Track, and Lacrosse (if we get enough players). Transfiguration needs to register our teams before April 1, so any and all students that plan to play a spring sport need to submit their forms as soon as possible. Booster Club Golf outing in mid May. Athletic Banquet in late May. Announcement of Summer Camps.

Athletes are not eligible to play until the permission slip is completed and the athletic fee is paid. Teams may be co-ed and/or multiple grade levels to field a full team. Spring Sports Boys Baseball (5th-8th) -- $65 Girls Softball (5th-8th) -- $65 Track and Field (4th-8th) -- $25 Lacrosse (6th-8th) -- $65 * In order to keep athletics fees low and provide sufficient equipment for our teams, families will be required to volunteer 4 hours a season or give $30 to Transfiguration Athletics to hire someone to work tournaments and games and/or fundraising events.
