GENERAL INFORMATION About Race 13.1 Race 13.1 is the premier half marathon series with 23+ races planned for 2016 in 10 states across the U.S.! While our series continues to grow, our runners can always count on the same first-class racing experience at every Race 13.1 event. We do everything we can to ensure that your experience before, during, and after the race exceeds your expectations. We know that you work hard to train for race day, and we work hard to ensure that your preparation is rewarded with an exceptional race experience. When you run with Race 13.1, we promise to go the extra mile for you from start to finish! If we can ever do anything to improve your experience, we encourage you to contact us and let us know! Race Rules & Regulations Can I wear headphones? It is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones, please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers. Can someone else run in my place? No, you are not allowed to transfer bib numbers to another person. If you are unable to run as planned, you may transfer to another race. Visit Race131.com/transfer for details! Can I register on race day? Yes, you may register at packet pick-up or online on race day up until packet pick-up ends. If you plan to register either in person or online on race day, be sure to leave time to pick up your race bib by the time pack pick-up ends. Am I allowed to walk? Yes, however, you must meet the requirements of the completing the race by 10:30am. Are baby joggers, strollers or pets allowed during the race? No, this is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies. Is there bag check? There is ample parking in close proximity to the start finish area; as such we will not offer gear check.

PACKET PICK-UP When and Where WE STRONGLY SUGGEST PICKING UP YOUR PACKET ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY TO ENSURE A SMOOTH RACE MORNING! Friday, Feb. 19: 5-7pm at Omega Sports (3501 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC). Saturday, Feb. 20: 12-4pm at Omega Sports (3501 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC). Sunday, Feb. 21 (Race Day): 5:30-6:30am in Runners Village near the start/finish area at Lumina Station (1900 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC). If you register three days or more before the race, you will receive an email with your t-shirt size and bib number. We strongly suggest either printing that email or pulling it up on your smart phone to expedite your time at packet pick-up. If you are unable to print the email, or do not have a smart phone, no problem! We will be able to look up your bib number and t-shirt as long as you have your photo ID. Packet Pick-Up for Someone Else We allow you to pick up the race bib and t-shirt for someone other than yourself with a picture of their photo I.D. or a copy of the email sent to registered runners one day prior to packet pick-up with your bib and t-shirt information. Showing either forms of identification on a phone or printed out will be accepted. Virtual Race Bag Every participant will receive an email with virtual event deals which will be sent to the email they used when registering. The VRB will feature great offers from many of our sponsors and partners. We strongly encourage you to visit our many Race 13.1 partners who have made many contributions to help us produce a great event. Switching Race Distances You may increase or decrease your race distance prior to the race. You can change your race distance online at Race131.com/change-race-distance until packet pick-up begins; after packet pick-up begins, you must change your race distance in person. This is to ensure that you race with the correct bib, as bib numbers are race specific. Please note: If you do not change your race distance either online or in person with a Race 13.1 staff member prior to the race start, you will be disqualified from the event.

RACE MORNING: PRE-RACE Race Start Time The half marathon will start promptly at 7:00am. The 5k and 10k will start promptly at 7:15am. Getting to the Start/Finish Area The race will start and finish at Lumina Station, which is located at 1900 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC. Parking There is ample parking available near the start/ finish area at Lumina Station. The map to the right shows where runners may park. Please note the areas where there is no parking and where vehicles are not permitted to enter (in red). There is no parking available at Lumina Commons and Harris Teeter, which is across the street (Southerland Road) from Lumina Station, where the start/finish line is. There is also additional parking available in a lot behind Lumina Station, just a little ways down Wrightsville Ave. (6800 Wrightsville Ave.) Gear Check There is ample parking in close proximity to the start finish area; as such we will not offer gear check.

Bibs Please wear your race bib on the front of your shirt. If you are not wearing a shirt, pin your bib on the front of your shorts. Please do not bend or fold the timing chip! Each race distance will have a specified bib color listed below and mile markers throughout the course. Bib and Mile Markers Colors: 5k Red 10k - Blue Half Marathon Pre-Race Warm-up A personal trainer from O2 Fitness will lead a pre-race warm-up at 6:30am near the start/finish arch! Meet their staff, loosen up and get ready to run! Pace Groups We have a great group of volunteers who will be pacers for the half marathon. We plan to offer the following pace groups: 1:45 2:00 2:15 2:30 2:45 3:00 If you would like to run in a pace group, please find the pace group leader holding the sign with your desired pace in the coral when lining up to start the race! Hydration Stations There will be plenty of hydration stations along the course, and there will be two Port-a-Johns at each hydration station. Please refer to the course map to view hydration station locations. Each hydration station will serve both water and sports drink. Important Course Information All distances: The intersection of Cross City Trail and Rogersville Road may be confusing for runners, so we created the graphics below and on the following page to explain it further. Please be sure to review these graphics and listen to volunteers on the course who will be directing you where to go! There will also be numerous signs along the course to help direct each race distance. The course features some out and back portions so please be aware and cautious of runners coming in both directions. There are a few places on the greenway where the asphalt is slightly cracked and raised. We will do our best to make these areas visible, but please be aware while on the greenway portions of the route. Please review the graphics on the following page for illustrations on directions at the Rogersville Road and Cross City Trail intersection.

Recommended Spectator Locations We recommend the following spectator locations for friends and family to cheer you on during the race. Please remember, arrival times at each location are estimations! Commonwealth Drive and Eastwood Road - All three distances will pass this spot inbound and outbound. Parking is available at Wilmington Plastic Surgery, (1404 Commonwealth Drive) which is around the corner from a McDonalds. Hamilton Drive and Hurst Drive - Half marathon participants will pass this spot inbound and outbound. Parking is available near the UNC Wilmington baseball stadium or tennis courts. If you have a medical emergency while on the course, please notify the nearest volunteer or police officer so that we can dispatch proper assistance to you as quickly as possible. Time Limits All runners must be finished by 10:30 am. Half marathon runners have 3:30 (16-minute mile pace) to complete the race. 5k and 10k runners have 3:15 to complete the race. Anyone still on the course after 10:30am when the race ends, will no longer be considered a Race 13.1 participant and will be fully responsible for their own well-being.

AFTER THE RACE Finisher Medals Every half marathon finisher will be presented with a finisher medal after they cross the finish line. Every participant in the half marathon, 10k, and 5k will be emailed a customizable, virtual finisher medal to keep for yourself and share with all of your friends on any and all of your social networks! Awards Age group and overall awards for the 10k and 5k will be announced at 9am, and awards for the half marathon will be announced at 10am. Winners must be present to receive their prize; awards will not be mailed out. Age group and overall winners will receive a medal and a gift card for the amounts listed below. Age groups are as follows: 19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; and 70-up. Food After the race, runners will be treated to some great food options from our sponsors and local partners! Food tents will be located in Runners Village. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC results trailer will also be serving chocolate milk and coffee! Results Results will be posted in real time online to Race131.com/results during the race, and all runners will receive a text with the link to the results page prior to finishing the race. Results also will be available at the BCBSNC trailer in Runners Village, where you can also find chocolate milk and hot coffee! Participant Photos Professional photographers will be along the course as well as at the start/finish area to take pictures of every runner throughout the race. A link to purchase and view photos will be emailed to you from our photographer within 7-10 days of the race. Post-Race Survey You will receive a link within a few days after the race for a post-race survey. Your feedback helps us make improvements for future races so that we can continue to provide first-class events!
