Section B Katikati Bypass The NZ Transport Agency has recently announced that a bypass will be added to the SH2 Waihi to Tauranga programme and will divert traffic around the township of Katikati. The purpose of the changes are to improve safety, and to increase the highway s capacity to carry more cars (to make travel time more reliable). We do have a favoured option which we believe best addresses the issues around safety and the highway s capacity to carry more cars. However, we would like to hear what you think. The views of the community will contribute to the decision of which option is chosen. We would like to get your opinion on each option in turn. 14

Option C widen existing highway to 4 lanes with central median barrier, roundabouts at major intersections, left in / left out at minor intersections, 80 km/h speed limit. Option D build a new highway with 4 lanes, a central median barrier, and overbridges at major intersections, 100 km/h speed limit.
