RUMS Cricket Club UCLU CSC Reception 15 Gordon Street London WC1H 0AH
To whom it may concern, I am writing to inform you of a fantastic opportunity to be part of RUMS Cricket Club and to ask if you would be interested in supporting our society. RUMS Cricket Club is a vibrant and ambitious society associated with University College London and UCLU, with special provision in particular for the Medical school. We cater for players of all abilities and experience and are looking to expand to over 100 members in the next few years. RUMS exists as the sporting and social facets of UCL Medical School, comprising of over 2000 students. As well as this we are affiliated with University College London, a world-leading, internationally recognised university with 25,000+ students combining the finest academic teaching with a fantastic student experience in one of the world s best cities. The society operates two teams playing fixtures across 5 competitions both indoors during the winter and outdoors in the summer. As well as competing against other university teams we are also fortunate enough to participate in the United Hospitals tournament playing fixtures against other London medical schools. This document outlines the current position of the club and provides templates for sponsorship packages as examples of what the club can offer should you choose to support us. These are merely guidelines and are flexible; if there is a particular agreement that you believe would be mutually beneficial but it is not mentioned below please do contact us to discuss any possibilities further. RUMS Cricket Club has wide exposure and has never been in a stronger position both on and off the field. Over the next year we are looking to repeat our strong performances in all competitions last season attract a significant number of new members and continue to provide accessible, enjoyable and competitive cricket to all. This is an exciting time for the society and we look forward to expanding with you in the future. Yours sincerely, Yousef Hyder President yousef.hyder.12@ucl.ac.uk Frank Johnson Treasurer franklin.johnson.12@ucl.ac.uk
RUMS Cricket Club in recent times The past 2 years have seen a drastic increase in events and activities undertaken by our society. Performances have improved significantly and the club has gone from strength to strength - We currently operate 3 nets once a week at Lord s Cricket Ground in both the 1 st and 2 nd terms before the outdoor season begins - Hawkeye sessions to improve bowlers performance - To supplement this we also have indoor fitness and tactical sessions at the Royal Free Sports Hall Hawkeye bowling analysis - Outdoor nets at Paddington Sports Centre - We entered both the BUCS (British Universities) and Lord s Indoor Leagues and finished very strongly in these competitions, beating UCL 1 st and 2 nd teams Indoor fixture at Lord s Cricket Ground - The 1 st XI were promoted to the LUSL premier division, and are the only medical school cricket team to do so. - Finished as runners up in the United Hospitals competition in a competitive final - We had an international tour to Trinidad in 2013 playing 5 matches across 10 days! It proved to be a fantastic experience for all involved and a great exposure to playing cricket in unfamiliar playing conditions.
On tour in Trinidad UK Tour XI at Buckingham Town Cricket Club - Pre-season UK Tour involving a match against local opposition and social events across a weekend - Regular social events both within the club and with other UCLU and RUMS societies - Students vs. alumni match with working doctors returning to the club to challenge the current crop RUMS Cricket Club 1 st XI Squad 2014-15 These events and activities are in part supported by membership fees and a grant from UCLU. This money alone is not sufficient to support our society and therefore we are always looking for further sponsorship and fundraising opportunities.
Looking to the future - We are desperate to build on our successes from last season. Last year we reached the final of the prestigious United Hospitals tournament, and this year we aim to go one better. For our 1 st team, who have been newly promoted to LUSL s premier division, we aim to establish ourselves as strong contenders amongst the elite of university cricket teams in London. At the same time, our 2 nd XI are now playing in two leagues for the first time, which gives our players a great chance to gain vital match experience and test their skills. - Our next international tour will be in August 2015, as we embark on Singapore and Malaysia to play a total of 6 matches. We believe this to be an exciting opportunity for our members to develop both as cricketers and as people, and are confident this tour will be every bit as successful as the last. - On the social element, we are looking to build on our growing membership and achieve 100 members in the next few years by converting a greater proportion of those who register interest into committed members. At the start of this academic year, we organised an indoor intra-club tournament as a means to build interest and involve new members right from the start. Next year, we are looking to develop this further and get more people involved.
