Annually, our district holds a special event during the convention, which provides an opportunity for Rotarians from our district, and our friends from throughout the Rotary world, to enjoy an evening of fellowship. Although you may be thousands of miles from home, you will be at home with your friends from Rotary District 5170. The Convention s Opening Ceremonies will be held in two sessions. The first will begin at 12:30pm and end around 3:00pm. The second session will begin at 4:30 pm and end at 7:00 pm. Our event will begin at 7:00pm. This year s event will be held at the Hotel Figueroa which is located just two blocks away from the Convention Center and across the street from the Staples Center. DISTRICT GOLF TOURNAMENT 30 January 2008 Dear Club Presidents: As I m sure you are aware, District Governor, Dick Lohmiller has designated any net proceeds from this years District Golf Tournament to go to benefit Camp RYLA. Therefore, we are requesting, pleading, suggesting, asking (your choice of adverbs) that each club provide a hole/tee/green sponsor (minimum of two) at $100 each. You can ask each of your members to be a sponsor, and be sure and get those insurance agents to come forward. The plaque at the hole will show your member s name, business, and your club s name, so it will be good advertising, as well as a wonderful way of supporting one of the Districts best programs. As an added bonus, each sponsor will be recognized by name, business, and club at the Camp with a special announcement at the Thursday B-B-Q 19 June. Sponsors are welcome to attend this fun event. This program has made a significant difference in the lives of thousands of future leaders over the years. You can feel great that your money will go to support such a worthy program, so please act now as our time is short. The deadline for ads/club sponsors is April 16, 2007. Please remember we are asking that each club support Camp RYLA with a minimum of two sponsors. With Great Appreciation!
